I have spent Christmas alone in my room, following my every day routine, doing some homework and feasting myself with aperitives throughout the day and rewatching Tokyo Ghoul, so it wasn't that bad.
can we talk about the fact that Joie De Vivre is trying to sound like Mineral while writing overly pretentious lyrics, which are soaked in self-pity? I seriously got annoyed by them as soon as I have noticed this. although they musically don't deliver anything new, or innovative they posseass a solid sound, but everything they're writing about is being "so sorry", not worthy or everything that goes by that. the lyrics may be worth a listen, but the delivery is bad. plain, repetitive and boring.
father figure basically processes the same thoughts and feelings through their lyrics, but in a more enjoyable, subtile way.
you may ignore this, since it's just a unrelated line of thought that I had to write down somewhere.

i always thought joie de vivre's sound was pretty derivative too, but that doesn't mean they didn't throw down some fucking bangers
i haven't payed the closest attention to the lyrics but some of them seem tight. like "i was sixteen ten years ago"
his vocal delivery is usually good enough to evoke the feels
father figure on the other hand is incredible in every respect including lyrics. they hit hardest when they're straightforward and transparent, like in "what the hell is on johnny's head?" imo
