I think it's fun and is the first album that's the first full departure from boring merseybeat. Also, it doesn't include all of the shitty hard rock songs from their later career that they rarely did well.

that one. how about favorite Beatles song?

>moved to a new city where my grandparents lived when I was like 7
>lived with them for almost a year while our house was being built since my dad really wanted to help design the house
>grandma played this all the time
>died a few weeks after we moved in to our house
some strong feels with this one

>White Album
>not a huge collection of poorly written songs

There are some decent songs in there, but songs like Glass Onion and Birthday are horrid.
>>
>>61095868
>songs like Glass Onion and Birthday are horrid

those are two great songs though
>>
>>61095868
Maybe but I like the atmosphere of the white album the best, it gives a very non Beatles feel imho
>>
>>61095535
This.
>>
>>61095888
The White Album's always reminded me of an angsty version of Revolver.
>>
>>61095868
The fact that a lot of the songs are throwaway makes it that much better imo.
Feels more raw.

>Glass Onion
>Let's make a song referencing other songs because I'm out of ideas!

>Birthday
This one's just crude, ininspired pub rock really.

I think the Beatles really played off each other and the fact that the White Album's recording sessions were done alongside lots of tension and intra-band seclusion really harmed it.
>>
>>61095960
I do sort of know what he's trying to say, but really he's romaticising lackluster songwriting.
>>
>>61095253
>the first album that's the first full departure from boring merseybeat
Wat?
>>
>>61095960
I'm not a Beatles fan in the least.
I like the white album for reasons similar to >>61095888
>>
>>61095973
>not digging the george martin's string arrangment and lennon's vocal performance on glass onion

w e w l a d

birthday has got a great riff and groove and it's catchy despite it's complete silliness and inconsequential existence deal w/ it
>>
>>61095990
You mean like all Beatles fans do?
>>
>>61095995
I'd have to re-listen, but there were a few parts of Revolver that reminded me of the bad old days.

>>61096012
Pretty much. Although I do like the Beatles, I'm no fan.
>>
>>61095262
Long Long Long
>>
>>61096031
Man, the songwriting started getting really interesting around Help!, by the time there were at Revolver, they were incorporating string sections, sitars, non-western songwriting techniques and backwards guitar solos. As well as the usual improvement of their harmonic and melodic technique that came with every subsequent album in the mid 60s.
>>
>>61095939
First Beatles song that I learned a full piano arrangement for
>>
>>61095231
>Ahh Ahh Mr. Wilson
Did he mean Brian?
>>
>>61096002
I don't really rate Lennon as a rock singer. I find him a bit too wobbly for my tastes. At least he doesn't sound as absurd as McCartney trying to sing harshly.

The string arangement is nothing much either, it's plodding and at worst just plays basic chords or copies the bass-line.

Also, the riff for Birthday is the most boring blues rock riff I've ever heard, have you ever even listened to the blues outside of the Beatles?

Is it bad that I listen to a lot of The Beatles, but wouldn't be able to name most of the tracks when played?

It makes me uncomfortable that you consider Help, Sgt. Pepper, The white album and Let it Be to be in the same era.
>>
>>61096564
Don't consider Help, only Rubber Soul from 1965 forwards, also, Help is not that bad, contains Yesterday, The Night Before, Ticket To Ride.

>Sgt. Pepper, White Album, Let It Be
>bad

have you considered killing yourself? If I were you, I'd do
