When I started to enjoy los Angeles.
>>
I saw that the album was popular so I decided to try it out and loved it on first listen
>>

OK, this is nice! That 'Oh Comely' song is really long though.

>2nd listen
Wow, he sure is singing with a lot of emotion. I wonder what this means to him?

>15th listen
I LOOOOOVEEEE YOOOOU JEEEESUUUUUUS CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIST

Sincerely, I have sobbed like a fucking baby to this album. Few albums can move me to tears, but this is one-- and the fact that the crippling sadness is veiled behind a guise of upbeat punk is icing on the cake. ITAOTS is 11/10

I used to love this album. There was a point where I sang the entire thing in the shower (tfw the water gets bitterly cold during Oh Comely). 9 months later, I haven't been able to quite enjoy it as much as I used to. I don't know why. Maybe I've listened to it too much. not sure.

it wasnt until perhaps the 10th time i listened to it that i began to sob like a fucking baby. I've listened to it plenty of times after and i still cry when Two Headed Boy pt2 comes on.

This album always brings back freshman year feels because they played Untitled as we were walking into the welcome to college big talk.

I know you're going to hate this response, but I have genuinely gotten sick of explaining it, and each time for some reason I was never smart enough or egotistical enough to save it to post again. Imagine putting a lot of effort into explaining as purely as possible into why you enjoy something to someone. Now imagine you've done it like 8 different times, and every time you end up mentally exhausted. I'm sick of doing it.

>>60889120

As someone who has listened to this record at least ten times, I still don't like it. There are good parts, but I don't find myself wanting to listen to it ever again. But then again I'm not some white guy in my mid-twenties thinking everyone should share my opinion.
>>
>>60889384
Okay listen to it again but slightly louder
>>
>>60889429
:O
>>
>>60889384
IDK maybe it's just not for you. Maybe the surreal imagery doesn't mesh with the possible story unfolding between the songs. Maybe you don't notice and connect with the themes of nostalgia, growing old, the holocaust, the fear of dying and eventually fatherhood.
Maybe you're not a fan of the simple, but still interesting instrumentation that can also be a lot larger and more grandiose.

Or more likely you can't get into Mangum's voice. Seriously, I can list the number of reasons why people don't like ITAOTS on one hand, and they're almost always the same reasons that are either nitpicks or personal preference.
>>
>>60889429
Nah, man. I don't have that much time to waste.

>tfw you love this album so much it literally hurts you when people meme on it

I'll never forget the time I listened to this album naked with my crush during freshman year of college. I still associate it with the pains and joys of falling in love for the first time, and with the way that the past can feel simultaneously distant and profound.

Six years later I saw NMH in New York with a different girl I was dating, and we both wept during Two Headed Boy Pt 2.

It's really just an album and plenty of people with good taste dislike it. I only listen to it once per year but it always gives me strong feels.
