I'm upping all the tracks to Bandcamp as we speak, so it should all be available there some time soon. A much tidier download for you all

The medical theme is interesting to me.
Close to home? Kind of. I've been in and out of hospital as my mother works in one and my grandfather had prostate cancer that they caught early and got rid of.

Does anyone here have major hearing problems?

One day recently my right ear just became really muffled and it feels like its clogged all the time even though there's nothing in it.

I'm getting scared /mu/, I don't want really bad hearing damage. Am I freaking out for no reason or is there a legitimate concern? The weather is getting colder and everyone's really stuffy so maybe that's it but any advice would be appreciated. I've been avoiding music in general for the past few days cause I've been worried.

Also, here's my favorite noise album.

What's stopping me from stealing someone's riff and then putting it in a constant loop and I just reverb the fuck out of it and feed it plugins until it sounds like popcorn in the microwave and then I just record myself screaming and layer it 3 minutes in and finish "my song" and then I photoshop a picture of wooden baby blocks next to a pyramid and slap a name on it like "nutseed library" and then I keep doing this until you faggots find my shit and start eating it

>One day recently my right ear just became really muffled and it feels like its clogged all the time even though there's nothing in it.

Holy shit, this has been happening to me also. It stopped maybe a week or two ago though, so it might just be the weather? I am not sure.

this sounds like earwax buildup, my little brother gets it all the time. if that's what it it there's no way you'd be able to reach it safely yourself. go to a medical professional and they'll be able to fix it with no permanent damage whatsoever.
>>
>>60769140
>if it's serious

That's the thing, I don't know if its serious or not. I don't have much time for anything recently with school and other factors in my life.

Is it a good bet to wait until around when Christmas break happens and if it still persists, seeing a doctor? Or should I see a doctor sooner?

>>60769152
Is this really gonna become the pasta that's posted in every thread?
>>
>>60769075
That makes sense. I was starting to think you might have had something

>>60769121
Seconding wax build up. It could be as simple as pouring some warm oil down your ear, but a visit to the doctors would tell you exactly whats up.
>>
>>60769121
>>60769140
I wear earplugs every night when I lay down to sleep, I'm a super light-sleeper and any noise instantly wakes me up.

From daily earplug use, the earplugs push wax into my ears and the wax buildup starts to get too intense, so I'll go a get my ears flushed out at walk-in clinics every once in awhile.
The week after it gets flushed out is incredible, my hearing is fucking fantastic and I swear I hear new shit in music I've listened to all the time.

I'd suggest you get your shit looked into man. Hearing is pretty important.

huh I've never heard of those, I need to get me some cause I can't wear headphones to bed and my housemates wouldn't appreciate me playing music at night. are yours comfortable when sleeping on your side or belly?

to keep this /noise/ related sleeping on my back gives me really vivid dreams and occasional sleep paralysis so sometimes when I'm home alone I'll put on noise, usually vomir - claustration, and force myself to sleep on my back. the experience usually gives me really intense memorable dreams. while they're often nightmares it's always an interesting experience. does anyone else sleep with noise? do yall find that it affects your dreams?
>>
>>60771090

Yeah, it's basically just a sleep mask. The only time it's ever been uncomfortable is when I wake up and the cord got wrapped around my face of neck, and that's never gonna choke you or anything. I don't even notice it until the morning. That's nothing that wouldn't happen with normal earbuds.

I've found that a good mixer with at least say 4 inputs to be useful. After that might be some contact mic's, which you can solder together pretty easily from piezo discs. Feedback walls can then be made, with other stuff thrown over the top.

i like noise, even if i can't listen to it for more than 20 minutes at a time. however, how to describe noise music to people who knows just rock and roll and pop? i mean, they don't think it's music, they think it's just some random noise (which is somewht real, but...) and think i'm a weirdo for listening to it.

bonus question: do you recognize some noise track month after you hear that? i mean, they all sounds all the same to me...

So I'm considering making an EAI General. Would you guys be okay with it being jointed with the noise general? I know they're different but often they can overlap.

It'd mostly be a way to increase activity on both ends. I wanna check with /noise/ regulars to see if I'd be taking away from your thread and if you'd dislike that.
>>
>>60775405
I think that EAI fits within the /noise/ umbrella well enough that we may not need a separate thread.

>care to recommend or rant/rave about any particular artists or aspects?
What's very interesting to me about it is that it's very much a sister genre to "regular noise," while at the same time having very distinct aesthetic, textural qualities, philosophy, etc. Onkyo in particular really appeal to me in that it has very clear roots which it pays homage to (fluxus, etc), while at the same time maintaining a unique identity.

This exact same thing happened to me about 4 weeks ago. Only really worsened with music listening (very much so with noise). My doctor said it's likely an effect of really bad allergies. I was prescribed a steroid and an antibiotic which helped a bit, but it's still here, and I've lost some hearing in the upper frequencies. Going back next week for a hearing test and I'll probably need tubes put in my ears to drain shit out. Have you had really bad allergies recently?

I don't care what anybody says, Bar is pretty good. Thinking about it in terms of "what the album is" is kindof stupid, sure, but it's pleasant to listen to, and after a while when you start to hear the overtones and stuff, you get a lot more variation than at first blush. I hate to be that guy, but you can make your own "Bar Sachiko" with a tone generator and audacity in about two minutes.
>>
>>60786719
You're not wrong, which is why I admitted it's kindof stupid, but that doesn't make the album illegitimate or anything; it doesn't mean it can't be good.
>>
>>60786799
Irrelevant to whether it's "good" (or even possible to evaluate at all), it means that the CD itself is of extremely low value.
>>
>>60786888
Well, that's fair, though I wouldn't say that the music on CDs, regardless of what it is, is what gives them value, especially when you can have it (or any other album) on your computer in a minute or two. Paying ten, twenty dollars for what amounts to packaging is kindof dumb as well, but it's a fetishized object, y'know, and regardless of any momentary value it may have it takes on a peculiar value of its own to a person who wants it.

Huge fan, have all of them. I like his ambient droning stuff a lot better than his noisy work though - although his noisy stuff is nothing to sneeze at.

For all and sundry (especially those that don't have them already), here's some selections from the self-released CDr series he did a couple years back (all V0 rips):

Well fuck thanks!

I figured you probably liked them based on your taste. Yes, I prefer the drone material myself.

I'm trying to go forward with my collecting these days. Like I have all the No Rent material (and I'll keep ordering going forward) and just ordered a lot of the Strange Rules tapes. Big on Fusty Cunt lately too.

I like the cover. I think next time you guys should do something conceptual so you don't have just a generic "NBND compilation" title. Could foster creativity for the artists in regards to their specific concepts as well.
>>
>>60786888
>it means that the CD itself is of extremely low value.

Low value from what? Perceived effort? Bar Sachiko is probably a more conceptual piece than a musical one. There's no difference between theoretical and practical effort for such a piece. You're basing your judgement off something you (nor I) have any idea about.

When you say you can make the album in two minutes with Audacity sure you can. But that doesn't change anything about the album itself. By saying "I could do it", and by extension anyone could, so what? You're emphasising a nonexistent dichotomy between artist and listener, where the artist is some talented higher being with skills and a vast repeteoire. And when that dichotomy is threatened to be dissolved is when people cry out and say "anyone could do that" and "it looks like my five year old painted it".

I mean no harm by this question, but I'd love to learn about the appeal of Harsh Noise Wall. I'm not talking about Harsh Noise, because that's fucking great, but I'm talking about the obtuse walls of distortion that can someone last upwards of 30 minutes.

Do people listen to it regularly or is it something you put on when you're in the mood for it? It can be either or some other reason too. I'd just love to learn.
>>
>>60791643

Some people like the rita and the cherry point actually play and change their walls
>>
>>60791643
It just sounds good, I don't know. I don't listen to it super regularly, but fairly often.
My father likes to play Thousands of Dead Gods very quietly to help him sleep.
>>
>>60791643
I only put it on when I'm in the mood. that's usually when I'm sleep deprived for some reason. a lot of the appeal, at least to me, is finding the small patterns in the wall that my brain imagines.
>>
do contact mics pick up amp feedback?
>>
>>60791681
That sounds like it'd be super interesting to hear.

>>60791682
I can understand it's appeal to sleepers. Some people enjoy white noise, like me.

>>60791720
I see now. Does it hurt your ears after a while of listening to it?
>>
>>60791540
You hear the new VOMIR yet? HERE GOES NOTHING?

>>60791643
First of all just want to say, big fan of PANDA BEAR.

>Do people listen to it regularly or is it something you put on when you're in the mood?
Both. HNW works between two extremes for me.

I. It's the soundtrack to pure obsessiveness
II. It's the uninhibited nothingness

That's just me though.

>>60791681
Both of these would fall under my first category

VOMIR would obviously be the second.
>>
>>60791643
just a harsher/more numbing version of ambient drone for me
>>
>>60791742
That's intriguing as hell. It seems like people see more things in HNW than I did when I first listened to it. So I'll try and tackle it again with all these perspectives in mind.
>>
>>60791732
if it's going through the solid they're placed on then yeah they would. how loud it's picked up has everything to do with where and how they're placed.
>>60791741
>Does it hurt your ears after a while of listening to it?
not really because I don't listen to it at a damaging volume. I do find my hearing to be muffled after listening to it but that's due to sensory adaptation and is purely temporary.
>>
>>60791540
Danke schön.

Should I keep checking for SS around here or is there a better bet for a discog

and see if it works for you as well. During and afterwards, you feel numb and are in a state of just...nothingness. That's why a lot of people use noise as a way to help their depression, it represents pure nothingness and its a crazy experience. I don't do it often, but one day try it out an hour or 2 before you go to sleep. If you get a headache, just sleep it off.
>>
>>60769108
I'm always interested to see what people here make
>>
>>60791852

There's a very good reason for that dichotomy: the artist gets paid for it. The listener doesn't.
