There's heaps of great music to come out of Australia, though a lot of people here have pretty shit taste, and a lot of acts that get well known garbage triple j-core. Australia had a great garage punk scene in the 70s and 80s, some fantastic prog rock and psych rock bands in the 60s and 70s, and heaps of really good metal bands now

The majority of good Australianmusic came from the last decade. Only because in the last 15 years most good live venues got sold up to build inner city dwellings for rich hipster arseholes who want to be close to the scene. Which killed it. Any prog music associated with australia is normally bretty gud. Ne Obliviscaris are great. Most Australian rap is good with the laid back, catchy not taking anything serious tone with the great production.
Australian rock is normally pretty simple but Australian pub rock is the GOAT anthem/karoke choices.
