fans of experimental and electronic music, I would like to know what your favorite books are.

Don't read a whole lot but my favorite book by far is 120 Days of Sodom. Reading a book right now called The Conspiracy Against the Human Race by Thomas Ligotti and trying to into more pessimistic philosophy stuff.

this is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. I was thinking about reading marquie de sade but it sounds like it's from an old english dialect which would be difficult to read.

It's definitely dense reading but I can tell you it's 100% worth it.

I don't like 120 Days of Sodom.

Juliette and Justine are better in my opinion.

Ride the Tiger - Evola
Logico Tractatus Philosophicos- Wittgenstein

Georges Bataille has many great academic literature on the human transgression and the philosophy surrounding brutality/transcendence. A few I recommend are Solar Anus, Death and Sensuality, and Tears of Eros

I don't have very much time in my life to read sadly but The Sound and the Fury and Look Homeward, Angel are books I really like

>marquie de sade

How fucking stupid can you be? Maybe you should start with a book you could understand, like 'Clifford the Big Red Dog.'

Just curious, what's the appeal? Always struck me as porn pretending to be philosophy. Probably revolutionary in its day, but when you can find real recordings like the stuff described in 120DoS with very little effort it seems like whatever point he was trying to make becomes irrelevant

I can see how you would be disappointed if you approached it from a philosophical expectation. Look at it more from an absurdist social commentary perspective.

Seeing De Sade as merely erotica is ill informed.

It's vulgar, blasphemous social commentary.

Reading stresses me out and makes me upset, but when I do, I mostly read/look at
>a series of unfortunate events
>where the wild things are
>cryptozoology books
>assorted folklore/fairy tales/children's stories
I find silly shit like that can help me channel my emotions into a more concentrated and clear manner

I like death industrial, blackened noise, black metal, witch house/depressive synth pop, sadboy folk, etc., etc.

100 Years of Solitude. I don't read much though.

Frig off /lit/, no one likes your shitty dead philosophers.

Well, they're fully fleshed-out novels as opposed to 120 Days.

Anyway, I love reading commentary on Gnostic and proto-Christian books. Some weird shit there.
