I have a stack of Walkman's and similar knockoffs and a couple different decks I use for playing and dubbing. When I'm with people, I actually use this shitty little plastic deck that has built in speakers since I can carry it to wherever people are hanging out.

It's a nice looking tape release for sure. Way better looking then Eccojams which is just a blank cassette with no label or printing. I'm surprised there is no Eccojams counterfeits, it would be easy to make good looking fakes.

I kinda agree with you. I honestly don't get why someone would want worse quality sounds for a professional release unless it was emo or something that was heavily ingrained in the culture. Just get the CD or Vinyl with Mac Demarco and the more well produced albums.

Cassette is around the same cost of creation as CDs now. Just like all physical mediums in music now, it is a collectible. Cassettes are very well known in the DIY and local scene because they are so cheap to create/dub. You can jam a lot into a cassette and people won't mind the bad quality. Some bands release on cassette because that is how they always have done it while others might jump on the band wagon (urban outfitters music)
