Passing Complextion is basically a 90's rave in noise rock form, but everything else is of its time.

Great album though, songs about fucking is better

You apparently don't English/logic well either
>>
>>55327658
but the songwriting is fucking shit
>>
>>55327732
In what way? You're the one who can't understand a simple sentence.
>>
>>55327797

A band produces an album in 1985-86
A song on it sounds like it's from the 90's
>80's come before 90's
>Song isn't ahead of its time

How fucking hard is that to understand?
>>
>>55327827
He explicitly said that Passing Complexion IS ahead of its time, and that everything else wasn't. How is THAT so hard to understand?
>>
>>55327797
Methinks you can't understand said sentence
>>
>>55327864

Really? Let's dissect the following sentence:
"Passing Complextion is basically a 90's rave in noise rock form, but everything else is of its time."

The first phrase suggests that Passing Complexion is not ahead of its time due to the inclusion of the qualifier "but". This word "but" suggests that Passing Complexion is not ahead of its time whereas everything else on the album is.
>>
>>55327864
But - "used to introduce something contrasting with what has already been mentioned."
>>
>>55327890
Try reading it again, fuckwit.

>but everything else is of its time
This does not say
>but everything else is ahead of its time
>>
>>55327865
>>55327890
>>55327909
I'll take the lack of response from you retards as a grovelling apology and a promise never again to try to call someone out on something without first making sure you know what the fuck you're talking about.

Like what the fuck, this is the same year as The White Album and Bookends, the only album anywhere near pushing the boundaries of music like this was 'We're Only In It for the Money' by The Mothers of Invention.
This and their first album were incredibly ahead of their time

Yes, even though this album isn't quite as good as the ones they did without the rhythm section. Despite the fact that the guitarist tells an original your mom joke on the best track. But man, these guys were something else for their time.

No man, Blood on the Moon is just an indiscernible mess of goth-rock-metal, and Third from the Sun actually has several good songs, but they're in a completely style, a sort of proto-nu-metal. Or rather, these two albums are in a single style, while the Soundtracks-Moves-Exposure trilogy is just a wild experiment with everything from psychedelia to industrial to dub to glam rock. And it sounds so busy, so inventive, so commanding, that there's just nothing like it, or at least wasn't in the last century. I mean, the intro to Pygmies in Zee Park alone is just more powerful and scarier than anything on Third From the Sun.

>>
>>55330047
True, but the first two records still bear some signs of being written in the 1970s.

The third one is pretty far removed from anything that was being done in that decade.
>>
Doesn't ahead of their time usually imply they weren't properly appreciated while they were around? That punk band Death would be ahead of their time, because they were just a few years too early to ride the wave the Ramones made, for example. Most of the bands posted here were just innovative and influential, and defined what "their time" was

Nah. Blood on the Moon is the tastiest soundtrack to cyberpunk ever produced. Insect Human and the title track are sublime pieces of noise. Up until Half Machine Lip Moves they didn't have a clue what they were doing. Unpolished, raw with amateur production. And with the addition of the Stench Brothers is when they made amazing Industrial Rock.
