Why does /mu/ have such shit taste in electronic music? Is it because you are a bunch of hipsters or because you're all 12? I've been wondering this for quite some time.

Sounds like emulating a Playstation game on a Windows 98.

I wasn't saying it was bad, dude.

Emulating psx on win98 just sounds like a bad idea. Guess you could get a few glitchy sounds from it though.

Everything posted so far sounds fucking awful. Like, every track is a 0/10 and 3/10.

It's true, electronic music is complete shit.

I guess you've never heard of them. They are all top of their fucking game. Props for Squarepusher though, very much looking forward to seeing him at Bangface in march.

You're right, the only one I knew beforehand was Xanopticon. I was criticizing the musics you posted though, not the artists.

Electronic music started really developing in the 40s/50s with tape music, musique concrete, electroacoustic composition, etc. Before that time, there were a few electronic instruments such as the theremin and ondes martenot which saw some niche use, such as in Messiaen's Turangalîla-Symphonie.

Here are a few more famous pieces from pioneers of electronic music

Pierre Schaeffer - Cinq Études de bruits
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTf0yE15zzI
Karlheinz Stockhausen - Gesang der Jünglinge
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XfeWp2y1Lk
Edgard Varèse - Poème électronique
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQKyYmU2tPg

A little bit later but one of my favorites...
Iannis Xenakis - Persépolis

this is good stuff anon but this is not a great way to express the range of electronic music like most /mu/tants do. like these four examples are all glitchy drill n bass songs wile "electronic music" can cover genres like: bmore, jersey club, footwork, juke, dub, dutch, sea/slime/ice/cyber/etc punk, vaporwave, trap, future funk, uk garage, grime, EDM, IDM, EBM, plunderphonics, triphop, chillwave, witch house, house, chopped and screwed, ets
And many of these have great variates of style.
>great links
>what kind of thread is this by the way?

>Do you enjoy the new squarepusher?
I thought it was kind of underwhelming. Not a bad album, just not impressive. His Hard Normal Daddy-era stuff still is my favourite, with Ultravisitor as a close second place.
>>
>>52143964
Damn. Haven't heard of this Xano song before. Shit's nutz.

I wasn't trying to cover the whole spectrum of what I personally listen to but should probably have tried a little harder I agree.

But..
>witch house

I use to dabble into genres like that. I'd even add Dubstep and DrumandBass to that list, yes i was a huge douche. Nothing quite effected me the way Experimental/IDM/Braindance(what ever the fuck you wanna call it) did. I like the harsh robotic feeling i guess, that being said i can't stand Noise.
