Charly García - Filosofía barata y zapatos de goma (1990)
>Art pop, pop rock. Arguably his last truly great album, that first three streak of songs alone grants it that privilege. The rest is also respectable, Curitas, Me siento mucho mejor, which is a fantastic cover of the Birds’ I Feel a Whole Lot Better and his version of the Argentine National Anthem. It kinda works as a transition album between his new wave/art pop phase onto his more atmospheric and gloomy albums.

The Gang Font featuring Interloper (2007)
>math rock, experimental, free improvisation
>This band utilizes influences from classic prog-rock acts like King Crimson or Zappa, but there are also elements of avant-garde and experimental artists like Captain Beefheart. The sound is ultimately rock, with overdriven guitars, repetitive basslines, and strong backbeats, but with complex, shifting-time signatures and song forms, as well as improvised solos and accompaniment, this album also draws some influence from classic avant-garde jazz players as well (especially from the keys player, Craig Taborn, who is becoming one of the most widely known pianists in contemporary avant-jazz.)

Charly García – Say No More (1996)
>Experimental rock, art rock. Charly García lost his mind somewhere in the middle of the recording of this album, or kinda, the thing is that he never was the same again. Drugs and alcohol were causing damage on his sanity, and it was going to progressively extent to his life (more than it already had) and his work; this was the point of no return for García. Well, his so-called masterpiece is a fucking mess, strange samples and spacey synths and keyboards all over the place that create a dark and alienating atmosphere like in no other of his albums before and since. Some (Including Charly) say it’s brilliant, I partially agree because there’s certainly some beauty in it.

Chico Hamilton Quintet in HiFi (1956)
>cool jazz, hard bop, avant-garde
>This was one of the first studio recordings by Chico’s group which was released on the Pacific Jazz label. Orrin Evans- Easy Now (2005)
>post-bop, free jazz
>One of the most unique and versatile pianists around, Orrin Evans recorded this record in 2005 and it is one of his most free and adventurous. Ray Barretto- Indestructible (1973)
>salsa, Latin jazz
>Fania Records is pretty much the “Blue Note” of the salsa world and percussionist Ray Barretto was one of the best-known and most successful of the Fania All-Stars. This is one of his best recordings and all-around one of the best salsa recordings ever. Pure, danceable, fun salsa tunes.

Kenny Wheeler- The Long Waiting (2012)
>big band, modern jazz
>Legendary trumpeter Kenny Wheeler just passed away this past September at 84 years old. This recording was one of the last big projects he did. It’s an original work for big band, with extremely well written and orchestrated parts. What really makes the music interesting is the wordless vocal part (sung by Diane Turturo) which acts almost as just another instrument in the big band.

Eddie Henderson- Phantoms (1994)
>post-bop
>Eddie Henderson was known mostly for his fusion work in the 70’s (in Herbie Hancock’s Mwandishi group), but here he goes for a more straight-ahead sound, while still keeping an adventurous sense of group interplay and improvisation. The group plays several 60’s standards (Dolphin Dance, Naima, Milestones) but also does several original tunes.

Ari Hoenig- Punkbop: Live at Smalls
>post-bop, fusion
>A live recording of a quintet led by drummer Ari Hoenig. The group includes some of the biggest talents in the current jazz scene, and they play energetic, rock-influenced jazz with extended, adventurous improvisation.

Do you have that one bandcamp album that was posted in here before?
I'd look it up but I can't remember the name or anything. Just that the cover had a drawing against a sky

Mel Lewis and the Jazz Orchestra- Bob Brookmeyer, Composer and Arranger (1980)
>big band
>This was the famous house band at the Village Vanguard from the 60’s onward, led by Thad Jones and Mel Lewis. Here the band performs charts written and orchestrated by Bob Brookmeyer, and it is probably one of the best documents of Brookmeyer’s skill as an arranger.

Lloydsaddiction - Sway
> German Indie
> Found out about this one through friends and a couple of blogs, praising the album. The songs on it are rather simple and straight forward: what sticks out the most are the melodic arrangements of synths and guitars. Highly recommending this one.

Any Anna Meredith?

I'm personally not crazy about aot (album oriented techno). If you're interested just check out hardwax and Chain Reaction and the early 90's Detroit stuff.
