Also good for dream pop, blackgaze, and noise pop.

spacemen 3. This version of this song makes me feel infinite bliss
>>53328889
> Favourite: Loveless, Souvlaki, Perfect Prescription (though that's not really shoegaze, but eh), Methodrone, Nowhere.
> Favourite bands: MBV, Ride, Slowdive, Altered Hours, Deerhunter, the KVB, Elastic Sleep, The Depreciation Guild, The Verve, Ringo Deathstarr, BJM.
Least favourite: Whirr.
> Your shoegaze project:
I'm working on making a band with a couple of friends, I put together some guitar noises as a proof of concept and to show my friend the kind of sound my gear could produce. Please do criticise unmercifully. I was trying to create a song moreso than an actual song:

Mein genosse.
Have you hearted the demo version of Walking with Jesus? Pure perfection.
I prefer Spectrum far more than Spiritualized, Kember kept the spirit intact much better. Pierce practically sold out and became a hip pop star after Laser Guided Melodies, Pure Phase, and Ladies and Gentlemen.

Damn this is actually really good

Oh yea. have you heard dreamweapon? thoughts? I love it.
I dont know much shoegaze but I'm a huge fan of bjm, spacemen 3, galaxie 500, a little spiritualized.

>>53330027
I like your riff, anon. I also think it would sound really cool if you added a black metal/blackgaze atmosphere to it.
>>53330241
Dreamweapon is great, so are How Does It Feel, Ecstasy Symphony and the other drone compositions Kember did. I'm a huge fan of Galaxie 500, the other slowcore bands like Sugarplant and Low are great too. Wareham's spin-off Luna is fantastic too.

>>Favorite/Least favorite albums?
Favourites would be Weed - Deserve, Bowery Electric - Beat, Ride - Coming Up For Air, MBV - mbv and DIIV - Oshin. I can't into Galaxie 500 so that serves as a least fav I guess.
>Favorite/Least favorite bands?
APTBS, MBV, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Ride
>Your shoegaze project?
I wish ;_;
>What have you been listening to recently?
Closedown - Nearfield
Pleasant ambientgaze with some songs in the middle.
Southpacific - Constante
Pretty good ambientgaze with space-rock and post-rock influences.
Also that BorisXAsobi thingy, that one is pretty good.
>Shoegaze AOTYs?

Haven't heard anything this year, what are some worthwhile ones? Hyped for the new APTBS, hope it isn't garbage like Worship was.
>Things you like/dislike about the style shoegaze as a whole?
It's diverse as fuck, although it can take a while to find the more unique/good stuff.
would cocteau twins be included in this thread? treasure, specifically
Lower Dens have been blowing my mind lately. Kind of a post punk influence on that. Really cool.
I heard there's a new album on the way.
Here, have a really great shoegazey cover of Walking in the air.

Yes, they're a great band.
Also, you all should check out The Darcys. They're a amazing shoegaze/indie rock band from Canada.
Here's a link to a 21min long song they've made on a barn.

>Favorite/Least favorite: "discovered" showgaze 10mn ago

Currently listening to loveless
The funny thing was, I just opened an random link on the frontpage, expecting something particularly specific I didn't heard befor, that was >>53330385 and I though "That sounds a lot like some regular alternative rock bands". Then I bothered to check wiki and start loveless.
That sounds pretty ok so far, I like it.
>>53332028
Luna/Galaxie 500 is much more slowcore/alt rock than shoegaze, but these bands kind of operated in the same circles so they're lumped together a bit haphazardly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO29Pz2Hw5w
>>53332329
Yeah, it made me think of stuff like Dinosaur Jr and a bunch of others.. that I read 3 minutes later on the wiki under "commonly cited precursors". So my musical hear isn't beyond saving.
I find MVB to be a rather pleasant listen, but as you accurately described it, Galaxie 500 is closer to my original cup of tea.
What is Deerhunter's most shoegazey song/album?
are there any good groups similar to Crystal Castles, but closer to shoegaze?
I love the way they combine shoegaze elements with synthpop, but I'm looking for something leaning more to the former than the latter.

Is this what you're looking for, comrade?

I can't tell if it's related or not, but does anyone else think that the intro on After Forever sounds like some shit Ride would make?

I posted this in the last thread but no one responded.

the depreciation guild isn't really like cc at all though, other than that they both use chiptunes, but they're not as prominent in cc's music.
>>53334421
DG is definitely more shoegazy, though. I'm struggling to think of a really synth-poppy shoegaze band, because synthpop has always had connotations of being "upbeat" in my head. It's a combination I'd like to hear.
>>53328889
favorite bands so far are Nothing, Whirr, MBV, some of Red House Painters' more shoegazey stuff, and Have a Nice Life (if you can really count them.)
I'm currently working on sort of a shoegaze/dream pop/beachgaze project with my friends. I've recorded a couple of demos by myself and we're gonna get some actual versions out soon.
