What's so bad about liking /mu/core?
Pic related is my favorite album but a lot of people brush it off as a meme and "lel /mu/ :^)" around here.
It's like you guys want people to listen to Aeroplane, Pet Sounds, Loveless, etc and then make fun of people for liking it.
What gives?
>>60726253
There's nothing wrong with liking /mu/-core. What's wrong is exclusively liking /mu/-core.
Just stop being so pleb. That is to say, stop listening to meme music
>>60726264
It just won't be good.
But the album isn't in question here. It's /mu/core
>>60726282
What about really praising some /mu/ core albums? Like I completely brushed off Pet Sounds because I never cared for the beach boys but /mu/ made me realize how amazing it is and it's one of my favorite albums now.
>>60726303
How is it meme music? If it's a meme, then it's widespread and if it's widespread and popular then that must mean its liked. Then wouldn't anything popular be meme music?
>>60726253
We've gotten to the point where liking /mu/-core is the new thing to hate on. We're so far up our own asses we came out the other end.
Be more new.
Nearly everyone has /mu/core they like and hate. It's just one giant pissing contest that constantly cycles just because you and countless others honestly get upset that strangers you'll probably never meet say mean things about what you like on the internet.
Also: >>60726282.
>>60726330
It's a meme among hipsters. It's the same reason Death Grips is a meme despite literally no one knowing who they are except autists on the Internet.
>>60726330
It's fine to praise an album that's /mu/-core. Anyone who gives you shit for loving Pet Sounds is an idiot (and I say that as someone who thinks Pet Sounds is the second-most overrated /mu/-core album).
>>60726253
Contrarians will be contrarians.
>>60726303
whats your favorite album? Ill make it a /mu/ meme in 1 month and then you have to stop listening to it, deal?
>>60726253
Nothing, don't listen to anything /mu/ says
Faggot
What's stopping me from stealing someone's riff and then putting it in a constant loop and I just reverb the fuck out of it and feed it plugins until it sounds like popcorn in the microwave and then I just record myself screaming and layer it 3 minutes in and finish "my song" and then I photoshop a picture of wooden baby blocks next to a pyramid and slap a name on it like "nutseed library" and then I keep doing this until you faggots find my shit and start eating it up
>>60726388
It's not even the best Beach Boys album Tbh
>>60726401
Anon, it's time to stop.
>>60726253
People meme what they love. Stick around long enough and you will too. I used to love ITAOTS so much that I learned to play all of it to myself alone in my bedroom out of pure enjoyment. Then a year passed and I've moved at least a hundred albums past it. Now it's just nostalgia and a chuckle or two.
>>60726394
Not him but meme this, faggot
>>60726333
Need a paradigm shift. Probably should shed this post indie skin and just do away with all remnants of it. I suggest /mu/ has a European/Latin pop era
>>60726282
This, everyone on this board obviously likes a bit of /mu/core at least, but those people dont get shit for it, the only people who get shit are those who only listen to /mu/core
>>60726394
>>60726431
Please try, i am curious on how this will go.
>>60726394
its this
>>60726388
What about the argument that you only like it because it's "hipster acclaimed" and "cool to like"?
>>60726394
You can meme it, but it might not be popular enough for it to really get going.
>>60726402
SMiLE? That shit's good too, but I love pet sounds better.
>>60726457
What about having your favorite album be /mu/core.I don't even listen to /mu/ core that much
>>60726444
Nah, let's connect back to our beatnik routes.
>>60726431
What album is this?
>>60726490
That can be a valid argument (there are certainly people who follow trends blindly), but it requires more evidence than "you like a popular album that I don't like" to be convincing.
>>60726504
Itsutsu Akai No Fusen - Flight
Or something, I haven't even listened to it yet because i downloaded it in a weird double album format and I can't verify if the tracks are even right
>>60726495
I think it be pretty funny if the catalog was full of Mediterranean pop, eurobeat, latin jazz, mpb, flamenco and ranchero
>>60726638
>ranchero
As a Mexican myself, this is a terrible idea, for both sides.

lol /mu/ fags are actually the biggest loads of human garbage imaginable. They think they are superior in some way. The phase of denial these people are in is actually fascinating. I observe these halflings, it is amazing how delusional this people are and how actually shitty their music taste is while they think it is nothing but shitty and unique. /mu/ folk is are very similar to tumblerina snowlakes. It is a similar kind of retardation
ITAOTS doesn't get much discussion in the real world relative to the discussion it still gets on /mu/. The rest of /mu/core were very well known and groundbreaking in the first place.
What would happen if you bumped every single thread in /mu/ at the same time
>>60728756

>>60726253
This is one of the best albums of all time. I've heard DSOTM, Nevermind, Radioheads albums that everyone says are the best but ITAOTS is slightly better.

underrated post
/mu/ culture is bound by the simultaneous and directly-opposed goals of listening to the "best music" to fit in and of masquerading a taste that is somehow unique - as though "unique taste" were possible, let alone desirable.
Evidence of this can be found in how observable popular opinion mirrors p4k's verdicts uncannily, yet no poster will be caught dead admitting to reading the (or any other review source).
The cognitive dissonance generated by this facade leads to /mu/'s collective bursts of quixotic outrage at anyone's taste which is deemed to be aligned too closely with "/mu/'s taste" (read: any music ever mentioned on /mu/ in any context). It is the only way to put down a band or album without criticizing it musically, and to separate one's own "taste" from one's perceived peers without subjecting it to risk by actually stating preferred music (which, being music at least one /mu/tant enjoys, is by definition also "/mu/core").
The old joke is that the /mu/tant's mentality is "stop liking what I don't like", but if this were ever true it is now outdated. It is in fact more akin to "stop liking what I like, because if too many other people like it my social capital depreciates". It's really pathetic.

Nothing necesarrly, but if you only listen to mucore you have bad taste. You're bound to like a few things that get labeled mucore
> album is well liked on /mu/
> album starts getting posted a lot
> autists label album a meme for being posting so much
> autists post album even more ironically
> album is labelled /mu/core
> contrarian autists shit talk album and anyone who likes it
Dont let it ruin your enjoyment of music dude. Anything that is well received by the community will always turn into a "meme" because people just have to look cool by not liking something that's popular even if its only really popular here or elsewhere online like death grips. Hell, half the people memeing on albums are people that listen to those albums. /mu/ really can be cancer sometimes you just have to look past it.
