Open Letter to the MLP Crew
Hi. To avoid to be eventually attacked from some of your followers that might to know who I am, I’ll keep
my identity and my country of provenience secret. I'm a fan of MLP since 2011. First of all, thank you
guys for what you did in all those years, MLP accompained me for all my university time from the
beginning to the end and despite all it went throught, I see with pleasure that even the new writers are
taking their job seriously, I'm really loving what have you done guys, keep it up! But isn't this what I want
to talk about.
When five years ago I discovered MLP I decided to watch is for one simple reason: I was interested in it,
nobody influenced me in deciding to watch it or not. I discovered it by myself and I decided to watch it by
my own. THEN I came close to the fandom..... and a pair of years later, I fully regretted of having done it.
In the first times the brony fandom was a colorful community, full of kind and nice people and I’ve met
several people with which I loved to talk about the show…. but now… it has become one of the most
painful place I've ever seen: people who insult or sent death treats to you, people who seem to prefer
finding what is wrong in an episode instead of enjoy watching it, people who try to ruin the reputation of
the show just because the original developer Lauren Faust left after the first season. Also I've seen
many of my old friends on Deviantart who used to love the show..... came to hate it..... it's really
horrible…

Also… I should make my compliments to the MLP community I used to frequent until two years ago for
their originality in hipocrisy: they constantly insulted me for liking Nintendo games because they found
them “childish” and yet they watch a cartoon with ponies…. honestly guys, I don’t know who should be
more ashamed: them for being hipocritals of first category, or me for having frequented such a terrible
community for almost three years without never realizing what kind of people I had in front of me...
And this is not a thing extended just to MLP: I used to be a videogames fan and I played a lot of them,
but right now I completely lost my interest in them, because they took a direction I never liked (a lot of
FPSs and violent games that I tried to like but I can't help I don't...) I've always been a person who loves
games with more calm tones and colorful (like Crash Bandicoot or Spyro on the PS1 or many of the
Nintendo series) but now those kind of games are almost extincted so I've no more reasons to continue,
but it's not about me I want to talk about: what I've seen in the MLP fandom... I've also seen it in the
videogames community: I've seen a lot of people coming to hate games they used to love and some of
my personal youtube idols did something that made me lose all the respect I had for them. Also… guys
one little question: would you change who you are just to be part of the mass? I wouldn’t. I want to tell
you about a sad episode I’ve been throught in a videogames community a year ago: there was a
discussion about videogames on a forum, I said just “The Witcher 3 is not my kind of game sorry”..... I’ve
been attacked and insulted with heavy words just because I said that…. DID I INSULTED SOMEONE?
DID I SAID “THIS GAME SUCKS”? DID I SAID “WHOEVER PLAYS THIS GAME IS AN IDIOT”? NO. I
just said “this game is not my king of game”.

It seems like people now have more fun in finding even the stupidest thing to criticize in a production and
bash it or insult themself for liking or not liking something instead of enjoying the productions selfes. And
because this now Internet is full of people who hate productions that they used to love so much in past.
Internet is changed, the people on it are changed, in something that I find really disgusting.
Those events left me several injuries in my mind that are hurting me, I can't stop thinking about all the
cruelties these communities made me go trought even thought I haven't frequented a community in
almost a full year (Twitter aside to follow you guys). It's something I don't have any power on it, those
bad memories comes up in my mind sporadically. I used to frequent several internet sites for many
years but now internet has become a really poisonous place for me and I want to quit it. Also right now
I've already not many more reason to keep using the internet as I've completed my studies, all the
animated serieses I'm watching are being cancelled and I've lost my interest in videogames, I've also
stopped to lurk the vast majority of the sites I used to lurk frequentely so I could even stop using the
Internet right now. However, there's still one thing for which I still use Internet for: MLP. As I still really
love this show, I'm going to watch what you made guys. Now since there's an half season hiatus now,
I'm going to take a break from the internet for the whole summer until the hiatus is over, I really need to
get rid of the virtual poison that infected in order to feel better.

internet again and I’ll have to go trought those hurting bad memories again until the season will be over

wanted to enjoy this show until the end, but I don’t want to hurt myself because I want to watch a
cartoon, so I had to make a final decision guys: If the sixth season and the movie won't wrap up the
show.... then I’ll have no other choice: I'll stop watching it after the latter regardless. I'm having several
hard times because the virtual poison in my mind, and that is giving me several problems in my real life
lately, like having nightmares at the night or getting randomly nervous when I’m doing something. I want
to keep watching MLP but I also don't want to suffer anymore. I know that somebody would say "if you
quit because the haters, you'll let them win" but there are my mental sanity and my love for things in the
frontline and those are my priorities, I'd rather lose to those jerks instead of continuing to suffer or even
worse becoming a bad person myself, so..... I'm quitting. I know I might sound like a coward who isn’t
able to face the obstacles, but please try to understand my situation guys….
