With that out of the way, maybe in tower 2.0, you could limit how our technology progresses by making us complete objectives on the floors to unlock aspects of the crafting system. Like, maybe floor 5 instantly unlocks gunpowder as a craftable resource, but you gotta defeat a miniboss on floor 8 to unlock craftable longer range firearms or something. I'm just throwing possibilities here.

I think limiting crafting to class is potentially worse than the current system, what if crafting were level based as to reward actually playing the game and trying to survive ? I feel like this idea could be expanded on. What about Level 1 being the skill to use Basic Melee, Level 3 being Basic Ranged, Level 5 being Intermediate Melee, L7 being Int. Ranged, L9 being Expert Melee, L11 being Expert Ranged, or a way of using that.
Alternatively, levels could have upgrade points to spend on shit like melee weapons, guns, laser/plasma tools, etc.

1. No team killing unless permitted by reason
2. No crafting, every item obtained will be from chests/crates
3. If someone asks/tells you not to help them with something (A.K.A me) then don't
4. If someone asks for help, you don't need to but if you do you get 'good boy/girl points'
5. Following any of the rules such as the no help/ help rule will get you points
What are these points?
Points are something, special we can say.
If you collect something like a 100 points, you get a crate that only YOU can open and what's ever inside only YOU can use unless you let someone open/use the item.

What about an entire upgrade tree? Players can get upgrade points based on their level and spend it on upgrades and skills; as they buy new upgrades, new ones come up, allowing them to make a bunch of new perks to their character. The problem with this can be summed up in one word:
Automation.
We were discussing the possibility of turrets and robots before. As they wouldn't be characters, they would bypass the skill tree you propose. Kind of unfair that one of us could have an automated turret BFG or something while the rest would be stuck with basic melee for a large amount of progression or so.

Here. We don't really need crafting, let's be honest. Here's a list of things we can craft, but it's limited to specific classes.
Crafting:
Pegasus will be support, for their agility and speed:
Knifes, Daggers, Short swords, small hammers, throw able weapons and other light weight weapons
Unicorns will be defense, for their magic being able to do many things:
Can craft shields, light armors, helmets, special necklaces that boost stats, potions that lower stats.
Necklaces:
Can boost, strength, health, defense, speed, agility and other stats
Potions:
Can heal, poison enemies, slow enemies, boost speed for a short time, boost strength for a short time.
Earth will be offense, they're strong and hard to take down:
Can craft, heavy armors, weapons like long swords, war hammers, battle axes, stronger shields and reinforce other items
Abilities:
Pegasus will be able to use an ability to increase their speed for a short amount of time, which can also increase your damage output due to the speed. This speed can not be granted to other classes.
Unicorns:
Unicorns can use their magic for things like a healing other team mates, but can only use magic as a defensive thing. Like we already have, Unicorns can make shields that last a certain amount of hits depending on how much power you dedicate into it. The strength on the shield can vary from 5 hits to 1 hit. Healing, you can use but much like the shield, how much energy you put into depends on how much you heal.
Earth:
Earth ponies are mean't to take damage. This is why they are an offense class if you will. They can take high damage and give out high damage but are fairly slow. The other two classes are fairly easy to take out, so Earth ponies can act as meat shields if the Unicorns can't raise a shield in time. Irish winds: Your luck rises by 5% so you can hit your target and have a higher chance of hitting a critical hit. But your unlucky, you take 5% more damage as well, meaning the enemies attacks do 5% more damage then they would normally on you. This has a cooldown of 10 turns.
Unicorns:
Haste: This spell rises your speed from 125 up to 150. Also, this allows your cooldowns, beside this spells, to remove one turn. So let's say one was at a cooldown of 5, by the time this spell is cast, it's now at 4.
Elegance: This spell rises your agility by 10 but rises your teamates by 25. Cooldown is 5 turns.
Healing circle: All teammates within a set distance of the spell's strength will be healed by 50 health. They are also granted a regeneration of 5 health every turn. You don't get healed or get regen. Cooldown of 10 turns.
How about this; we all work on our ideas alone, then tomorrow we merge all of it into one revised engine by working all together.

However, I am friends with the OP, Lawsmen, and I found out he was planning to release a beta version of Update 2.0, which moderates a few more things while making the game fun.
