Same here. Month before season 2 aired is when I first marathoned the show. First episode I watched was fall weather friends and I've always enjoyed Tomboy-ish characters. She's the character that they least identify with. You see the least amount of hate for characters like AJ and Ponka because those characters are literally stagnant in life, similar to themselves. The idea of a character who has a goal, a purpose in life, and is willing to work hard to achieve it is so volatile to their own lives that they feel nothing but contempt for her. It's sad, really.

The hoof walls, where horses usually wear horseshoes, are hard and strong. That's the part which got shined in the image and probably the part which she used as a hammer. But other parts of the hoof, like the sole, are more sensitive. Plus, some horses are more sensitive than others. And Dash is always flying, even when Fluttershy and Twilight are walking, so it makes sense for her hooves to be super sensitive. Well, maybe it doesn't make much sense but, I dunno, it's just my thing.

That's a nail file Lotus is holding, on a pony you'd use that to file the hoof walls as well, same as she does with Rarity. It makes no sense that she'd be sensitive to a hoof file but not a hoof polisher and have no problem using the same part of her hoof as a hammer.
Seems more like she's got an issue with spa treatments as such, or perhaps it's the physical contact she's not comfortable with?

I think that's the obvious explanation, but keep in mind:
When she used her hoof as a hammer, she knew exactly which part she was using. When she got her hooves polished, she had them on the floor, there was no way the polisher touched the inside of her hoof. But when Lotus had the file, the inside of the hooves was exposed, Dash might be afraid of Lotus touching her there.
As I said, it really doesn't have much sense, but nothing really contradicts my headcanon, so I'm going on with that.
