Fanfiction is a literary joke in part because the faggots that make these bloated nothing stories interpret "the more words and bigger the story, the better it is!" and is certainly not helped by a readership that shares this mindset. There's no appreciation toward succinct, concise storytelling because everyone is obsessed with filling them with as many words as they can to pad it out and make it look big. A related issue to this is the amount of purple prose and unclear word usage to pad shit out, which just clutters the whole thing up because the author decided to rewrite a fucking thesaurus instead of a story.
