This guy has the right idea. We're also dealing with material that is still largely young girls here, and I'm legitimately surprised they're going the route of making Twilight a niece, but what's done is done.
Barring another case of Baby Cakes, I wouldn't mind an episode where Spike (and possibly Twilight) travel with Cadence (and maybe Shining Armor) to see her adopted family (provided they go with the Berrow books material), and deal with conflicts surrounding the extended absence of an individual. While it would probably be similar in shape to Amending Fences, the show could also hit on non-biological familial bonds. It would also fulfill the one of the Spike episodes for the season, and develop things between he and Cadence further.honestly though, I'd prefer an episode where Rarity has to spend some alone time with her dad.
