Her backstory was just the start of a downward spiral for her that eventually lead to the equality village. It was intentionally simple. (Fits the theme of the episode. One small thing can lead to a cascade of events)
Her motivations in the finale wasn't a result of her backstory, but her "sanctuary" for her worldview being destroyed in the premiere.
And even then she didn't know that she basically ruined the world with her actions. She never joined Twilight in the newly created timeline. She just wanted revenge on Twilight. Even when she was shown the destroyed world she thought Twilight was trying to trick her.
