Also, I just noticed something with this scene I missed the first time around: Everyone except Dash is a batpony, complete with ear tufts and everything. This tells us quite a few things:
- They're not a forgotten piece of animation, they're definitely part of the lore.
- They're a race, not a magical transformation as some have speculated, or Dash would be a batpony too.
- Dash is exceptional even here. She's the only pegasus in NMM's closest guard.
