Last time, Dandy left the relative safety of his basement to search for Squishy. His mad detective skills led him to the royal hedge maze, where he encountered a ghost filly named Willa Wisp, who was determined to keep him in the maze so she could spook him. And it turns out she was pretty good at spooking... for a time. But why was she so eager to scare Dandy? After beating her at her own game, Dandy got her to spill the beans: It was so her soul could depart to heaven and she could make peace with her grieving mother, whom Dandy took it upon himself to seek out and bring to the maze. Willa Wisp accidentally scared her mother half to death, freeing her and allowing the two to finally say goodbye.

As Dandy flies, he thinks about everything that's happened tonight. On the one hoof, Squishy's abstinence could have easily gotten her or Dandy hurt at the least, and imprisoned for life or longer at the worst. On the other hoof, everything worked out alright, and Dandy and Quiff even saved a trapped filly's soul and reunited her with her mother as a result. Dandy sneaks a quick glance back at Squishy, who's sitting over his side and looking up at the stars.

Dandy feels Squishy's weight shift on his back in strange ways before she answers: "But I can't stick to you. Your coat doesn't like me. It won't let me stick to it."

Dandy lets himself lose altitude, dropping to the street outside his apartment. It looks like everypony has calmed down over the whole Moon-turning-into-a-giant-pony thing while Dandy was exploring the hedge maze, and the streets are now empty and quiet. Perfect for sneaking excitable gooey ponies inside. Dandy tiphoofs up the stairwells and opens the door to his apartment, then shuts it with a soft click and locks it.

Quiff chitters affirmatively, yawning and putting on a nightcap as he makes for his cage. Squishy looks up at Dandy, confused.

Dandy nods and goes to the kitchen to get a small bowl. He fills it with water, then carries it to Squishy and sets it down on the floor next to her.

Squishy peeks over the side of the bowl, then rears up and hooks her hooves onto it, before slinking up and over it in a rolling motion, plopping herself into it with a small splash.
"Ahhhhhhhh... That feels nice~" she says in a relaxed voice, her body starting to lose definition as she gets comfortable. Before long, she's a shiny brown film floating on the surface of the water, being gently rocked around by the waves her entrance made. "Thank you, Dr. Dandy. This is a lot cozier than the pool Dr. Lumis keeps me in." She yawns, a gooey tendril reaching up and rubbing her eyes.
>"You're welcome, Squishy. Sweet dreams, okay?"
"You too... Dr. Dandy..."
Dandy carefully picks her bowl up and carries it to his room. By the time he sets it down on his dresser, the only sound coming from it is a soft, rhythmic bubbling.

There's one thing that I've been thinking about for a while. The players being an actual entity of sorts in the quest and being in direct contact with the main character is a pretty neat idea (I don't read a lot of quests, so I'm sure the "voices in my head" idea has been done countless times before, but I still think it's neat). However I feel that currently, the connection is not really different from what it is in Muffin Top, the only difference being that Dandy reacts to certain posts.
What I mean is that Dandy pretty much does what the majority wants, just like Muffin Top. I miss Dandy being an actual character we interact with in the way of putting up more of a discussion at times (maybe going as far as refusing to do some things), or doing some things he simply considers more useful than what the players suggest. The Minesweeper game, where he would tap a few cells himself, is a good example for this.
Obviously as a "Choose your own adventure" story, that goes against the spirit of the thing, and since you are the quest master, making Dandy do other things that are "more useful" would probably tend to go towards plot advancement which the players are supposed to discover themselves. But if you are going to use this idea of making the players converse with the character they control, I think he should also act as an independent being, making the decision-finding process more of a discussion rather then one-sided command execution. Because right now, Dandy comes off a bit like a clueless retard who mindlessly follows whatever a bunch of complete strangers with at times questionable intent (thus untrustworthy) agree on in his mind. And it feels like wasted potential, since I think it would be more interesting if we the players are treated more equal to himself. Since in the end, it's his life and we're just a bunch of weirdos that have hijacked his brain by accident, and while we've been helpful, he has no obligation to do what we want.
