The Pipboy thing doesn't really make sense. Why would you have it on a foreleg that you'd need to sit down to use when you could have it on a chest harness or on a set of goggles? No, it was left open to the reader because this is what the games do. Design your own character, be who you want to be. The story was just slightly more personal because you had an idea of what your littlepip looked like. Until all the fanart came out anyway.

Depends on your interpretation of magic I guess. I always figure magic is just technology without the need for tools. The radiation also wasn't built in purposefully as far as the story bothers to explain. None of the characters are nuclear physicists. My guess would be the radiation was a result of the quick evolution from "heal bomb" to balefire bomb. They didn't care about the radiation because they could contain or avoid it as long as it was on foreign soil, so they were deployed. As far as realism in radiation is concerned, remember we're talking about fallout here. It already has magical radiation.

I've actually got a pretty fun 'textbook' that I've been working on concerning the nature of magic and linking it up with 'string theory', in that you can collapse a possibly infinitely varied event into a singular, deterministic event with your organized thoughts. Huge magic field theory thing, but it's not finished.
Anyways, the 'radiation' could be explained away using my idea up there. Instead of an active observer purposefully willing form to magic, you have pockets of 'stagnant magic' that cause random events to occur around them. It's wild, uncontrollable magic that alters the landscape around it, causing dangerous and unpredictable effects.
Something like that might have been fun to play with. Oh well, missed opportunities... now we just have 'magical isotope decay' that causes 'magic electromagnetic radiation' that damages organic lifeforms. Great.

I just don't get why it has to be Fluttershy. It seems like the most unlikely pony to come up with a solution like that.
Also, why a megaspell? Why a 'heal bomb'? That seems just... dumb. Why didn't they create some sort of tower that made magic a force that could be transmitted and manipulated by anypony on the planet? Something useful to society? Maybe something that was so useful and powerful that it, itself, was cause for the war, rather than some resource race?
I just hate everything about how this idea was handled. Nothing fits together well or gives cause for intrigue of any sort.

From what we can tell, Changelings don't appear to have a hivemind going on. From the cameo appearances of Changelings showing up in episodes to how certain ones acted (like the one interacting with Pinkie), it seems they work independently, but all for the same cause.
Imagine, though, that instead of 'kill all the enemies', the Changelings want to 'enslave all ponies'. That's much more horrifying for the ponies than a simple termination. The Changelings were canonically portrayed doing this as well; they prefer capture over kill. Developing a 'bug bomb' would seem logical, though given that Changelings can mimic others, that could have been why the bomb backfired and destroyed everything. To me, they are a sinister bunch. Very noteworthy adversaries, could be adapted to a Fallout crossover rather easily, I'd think.
A civil war would have been cool, though it'd require a lot of elaboration on how things fell apart between Luna and Celestia. How they are handled would be critical to the success of the story.
I just don't feel zebras as a good choice of villain. They're peaceful, misunderstood, and generally just want to do their cool voodoo shit and drop rhymes. You COULD make them work, but... again, I think Kkat failed in giving us a believable scenario.
What if the Zebras had started or were discovered to have been practicing forbidden magic? What if they were performing necromancy and Celestia didn't want none of that shit? Maybe the Zebras suddenly got a shitty leader that was pulling false flags between their nation and a small Equestrian settlement?
Arms race doesn't feel likely without something to back it up. I just really hate how they went about handling this. There are SO many possibilities, why did they pick such a weak, contrived reason?

I suppose so, but quantum mechanics functions independently from this idea. I'm personally not a fan of string theory myself, but it gives me an interesting mechanism to work with when discussing magic and how it can affect so many different things in such a variety of different ways.
I just wanted to base it on an already well-known concept to give it an edge in being somewhat believable.

If I did, I'm not sure where I'd post it for exposure. I think it would be fun to get back to, though, and finish up. I want to use it in a plot for a game I was imaginingTraditional fantasy type world. A scientist type of sidequest character is introduced into the story to better help the player understand a mysterious weapon they found. This character is fleeing from pursuit of a council of arch-wizards for his research; he has discovered the 'unified anti-physics field theory', which is his understanding of how to manipulate, store, and harness magic with technology to accomplish mechanical/technological functionality. The arch-wizards want to keep magic as a 'you need to be born with the gift of magic or have it bestowed upon you by the council (or illegally use dangerous artifacts that just give you magical abilities), so to preserve status-quo, they want to destroy this guys research and make him 'vanish'.
Anyhow, your character is tasked with just helping him out with an experiment while he analyzes your equipment, determining that your sword is actually an apocalyptic doomsday weapon that was supposed to have been destroyed some time ago. He recommends letting him destroy it for you, but you can convince him to help you upgrade it and continue along with a more badass weapon to use.

My biggest problem with the changeling menace is their food supply. They feed on love. The war would more or less be over simply by having a war going on. Especially a race war. That's one of the problems I had with them in the show. Why attack at all? You'd think they could just live peacefully if they weren't jerks to the ponies. Enslavement wouldn't work because slaves wouldn't generate love, killing them all is pointless, and you'd attract the ire of every other sentient race you might be able to feed off. They just seem like mosquitos to me, kind of annoying but not a threat by themselves.
As far as zebras, we don't know for sure that they are peaceful, though even the arabs in that world are so take that as you will. They were known for necromancy and forbidden magic. The bobbleheads (and some other things) were created using forbidden magic that let you tear your soul into pieces and splice it onto objects. While the resource war was an issue, the spark that set everything off was a bad political move by leadership. Celestia allowed Luna to open Horseworts right across the street from a zebra settlement. IIRC, the zebras were pissed at being so close to NMM all the time (remember, they still think she's pure evil on hooves) that they took things personally. Both sides played the politics game poorly and a lot of pones and zebras died for no good reason. With racial and political tensions already high, there was nothing that could come of it but war on some scale. The resource war was secondary to the cultural war neither side knew they were fighting.
A civil war would have been cool, but Celestia has shown too much foresight to ever lose to her sister. Except in that one bit in the s5 finale.
