Hello /m/. For the past while I've been working on a master list that covers what shows throughout the entire mecha genre have subs and which ones do not. This is the end result of my work.
First, some points... this list is not yet comprehensive enough to specify which fansubs groups handled each show. It will specify if a show was given official subs by denoting it was licensed. Mentioning which group did which show isn't really the point of the list anyway. That can be saved for a larger wiki that I may or may not create later (similar to the tokusubs wiki)
So what's the point of the list?
To tell us what's available to be watched now, and what projects still need to be worked on by future groups. The list was compiled using research based on checking nyaa, anidb (most notably under the mecha tag), bakabt, and individual wikipedia entries for each show.
Not every show that falls under sci-fi is on here, nor am I even sure if every show I've left on here still should be. This list is for TV shows first and foremost, not OVAs or films. Generally, this is meant to cover piloted giant robots, whether real or super. Power Armor shows are generally left off with a few exceptions, and short comedic series (like Gundam san) are regulated to more OVA like categories and not included.

Yes, although most of the hero ones are technically transport vehicules (Yatterman's Yatter-Wan, in particular, can be ridden on Giant Robo-style). Ippatsuman and Yattodetaman have big ol' mechs.

What would count as exceptions for a power armor series? Like, Detonator Orgun? (90s, Licensed)

Tekkaman and Blade are examples of a power armor show that has VERY super robot vibes, so I left it in.
Orgun would count, but it's an OVA. The main reason I focus on TV shows here is because that's where the most subbing effort would need to be focused. OVAs tended to have a higher percentage of completion since they were so short and early anime companies were quicker to license them. Something like Megazone 23 is very much mecha, but that's an OVA.
Also note that the large majority (read; nearly all) shows after 2001 that were not included in this list but may have been borderline or heavily sci-fi did have subs anyway. The biggest area for debate is shows from before 2000.

Need more info about the quality of subs available. It's good that you're pointing out crabsticks, but you should also clearly note dubtitles and guess subs. Guess subs in particular need to be known (or not even listed) considering they mislead people by making up their own dialogue and plots.

There are guess subs floating around for the 2008 version of Yattaman if you need an example.
Basically they come about when some idiot who doesn't understand Japanese decides he wants to sub a show and just makes up whatever.

There's not many shows that it's an issue for, it'd have to be something somewhat obscure (which I guess is half of the things /m/ care about).
AniDB doesn't even list guess subs though if you ever use that site for reference, which would help you spot them.
