/a/ has a thread talking about the new Macross ship that shows up in Delta. Why are people confused as to it's class?
It's a New Macross-class vessel, as evident from the shoulders. The central torso has heavy guns and armor that are just replacing the hangar bays you saw in that position on the Macross 7, Macross 21, and Macross 25. In fact, it looks similar to the torso on the Macross 13.
If you look at the carrier ship, it has the designation CV/C-109 on it. Given the shape, and the scale of the Valkyries on it, it seems like it might have been salvaged from an Uraga-class hull or some other carrier class that predates the Guantanamo and comes after the ARMDs, considering the Guantanamo starts from CV-299. By Macross 7 though, they're all CVS-XXX, while the Uragas start from CV-404.
By the way, the Prometheus from SDF Macross is CVS-101, and the keel looks similar. This might be a space-borne carrier that was based on the Prometheus' design as an homage.

On my second rewatch of the episode, I realised something.

Welcoming Freyja to Valhalla? In hindsight, that's kind of weird.
Then I went and googled a bit.

Messer Ihlefeld is named after German World War 2 fighter ace Herbert Ihlefeld. FYI Battle 7, Battle , Battle 13, Battle Frontier and Battle Galaxy are all called Battle class.
This is not a Battle class but an mix of previous classes of Macross in the franchise. Upper body Quarter class, crotch is SDFN Macross class, feet are Battle class. ARMDs totally new.

New and better ships are designed over time and some ships are made differently than the other ships in the same class.
The Battle 7, Battle Galaxy, and Battle Frontier are all in the same class, but they still have differences.
Battle 7 was normal, Battle Galaxy had the massive hologram system and presumably is remotely controlled, Battle Frontier was over 400m taller than 7 or Galaxy due to the Frontier fleet being huge in comparision.

Your problem is you're comparing these to Gunpla which are cheaper, less niche, and not prepainted. Tomytec is a smaller company and these models are already painted hence the mark up. Their aircraft model kits have the same details and cost the same as fighter mode's model. Get a job or don't buy them.

I'm not liking where Freyja's character is going. So far she has been given everything on a silver plate and she just keeps conveniently getting things handed to her.
Even Ranka had to climb her way to the top, from singing on malls to failing auditions, but you know, she worked hard. Freyja just turned into an idol in the fucking second episode of the show without pretty much doing anything and just out of convenience that she has a magical voice and her idols were also conveniently there to listen to her firsthand.
I just think they could have taken the time to show her actually working hard to be an idol instead of this. I mean, part of the fun of idol shows is seeing them slowly develop to one, climbing their way up. In here, Freyja just looks like a spoiled kid.

They are combat units first and idols second. They want people that stand and sing while risking their lives and most importantly, can shit out fold waves to fight the Var. The idol part is just a bonus for them.
The fact that Freyja could shit out fold waves was the reason why they allowed her to enter the audition, because she has the most important ability they are looking for in their tactical idols.
If she hadn't been on the planet when Var happened and Walkure deployed, even if she made it to Ragna she wouldn't have been allowed in. But in this case, they had clear data that she has what they are looking for.

The voice is the most important thing. If they didn't have an adequate singing voice capable of fold shenanigans, then there's no point accepting them. Military training, discipline, use of those shield drones, holographic gear, and even bravery in the face of the enemy can be trained, but not a fold-capable voice.
And for whatever reason, instead of being strapped into a cockpit while singing like in M7 or Frontier, they decided that singing up close works most effectively.

So far the only thing she has done is pop up in places and sing, and gets pulled in skipping all the hard work (because fuck those girls that actually had to go through the preliminary auditions until the final auditions) because the higher ups saw her signing, because she just happened to be there. In fact, its the same circumstances that led to Hayate being recruited for Delta squad. Arad recognized that he had talent and roped him into Delta squad, an elite squad. Hayate wasn't even a fucking military recruit, he was just a random talented civilian.

It's possibly because singing up close does work most effectively. We've already seen as much. Most of the Var victims were simply incapacitated. The only ones who were actually cured someone had to sing right in the face off. As such they presumably have to get up close and personal to cure them properly.
This may not always be the case, as the Windermere alien affecting people with Vars is doing so from light years away, but Walkure don't appear to know that technique or technology yet, so they can't do it.
Even if they learn how to though, they almost certainly won't sit back in safety and sing the majority of the time as they are not just curing victims, but helping the public survive them by directing drones, acting as bait and so on. Which can't be done nearly as effectively from anywhere else. They have the training and equipment to do so, so they will regardless of the risk, because they've accepted that risk as acceptable. They have back up too.

As other's have pointed out those girls were never getting the place anyways because while they may have been willing to step on to a battlefield and may have been able to sing they didn't have the ability to cure Vars. Freyja did, in a big way, so an exception was made to bring her in because they'd yet to find anyone else who could do all 3 things like Freyja after multiple interviews, and there's no point turning her away because she was late.
