1. That'd put them in the crosshairs of at least 3 Azazel type Festum, and the Nuns since the Nuns spy satellite can effectively track Walker and the Azazel's are making full use of the Nuns.
2. That require a massive air transport which they lack the proper amount for because they've been using land vehicles to transport a good portion of the refuges. They don't have nearly enough Fafners to both allow for multiple back and forth trips because Bellcross will attack those who stay, Walker will attack those are coming, Space Godzilla will do knows what, and the Nuns will shoot whoever they can down

That's because of the Mir Core. It imparts an ability to resist the Spheres and slows the Festum's ability to assimilate anything with one. Remember how Mark Zehn survives the sphere unharmed but all the kids die? It was because of the core, not the armor. That's why the new NUNs models with Mir Cores are much better than the old ones, they aren't just more efficient power sources. Traditional armor does nothing against Festum's two main attack forms.

It's meant to show how the Nun's idealogy of "You can't risk saving anyone because you'll only lose more" is mirroring the chance in Festum and Humans.
The Festum enemy now more human. They laugh when their plans go well. They get angry when their plans go bad. They're using starvation tactics and hit and run.
Meanwhile the human enemy now fights emotionally or without thinking. They follow orders. They kill who they're told to kill. There's no point of dialogue. You kill the enemy and take what you can use from them.
