***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Our next Group Build!

Field Repair

Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

Is there a website that if I put in something like the hex code for a color it'll tell me some colors to mix to make it? I know there's a color matching site but I need precision.

Also is there a way to easily bend plastic to get it to fit right? My friend bought some Gradius 2 Vic Viper & this thing is SHIT. The top & bottom halves of the body are too flat & you can't get them to stay together.

Out of grey paint. How bad would it look to use black instead of grey for all of the joints and guns and such?

I know it's a crime against humanity to leave any bit of your kit with unpainted plastic. But I'm just tempted to not paint the grey bits since I don't have the paint for it and it already is the color I want it.

Compared to everything else, they sell "enough." SEED is essentially dead, the Astrays are overwrought and ugly, Wing is older than fuck. 00 is all that's left other than more Zakus.

Alex would be extremely great for a Revive. The Zaku Kai as well, possibly as a matched special set.

I built a 1/144 Alex and Rick Dom II recently, and was just amazed at how much better the Dom is compared to the Alex. Both have very good design ideas, but the Alex kit is unpolished compared to the more forgiving Rick Dom II's design.

Am I the only one who's really frustrated by the Grimgerde's loose as fuck toros? I mean, it's a model kit so of course you're going to pose it and leave it for long periods of time and the Grimgerde can hold a pose as well as any kit I've seen. However, having it split into two parts every time I try and adjust the torso is really frustrating and not an issue I'd expect from a modern hg. It's easier to pose the model as one piece instead of posing the legs and upper body separately and then forcing them together. I like durability dammit.

Can someone explain to me what this hobby is all about exactly

At first I thought it was just painting them.

But after taking an actual look at some I realized they have just been "posed" for a photoshoot with out of the box colour.
I assume that you aren't putting them away/displaying them in these action poses so my question is..
>Is the photoshoot the whole point to most people ?
Or is that just a "complete package" used to share pictures
>>
>>13914028

I wonder if slapping the upper body of the Dom Test Prototype onto an HG Gouf could yield a decent conversion into pic related. After all it seems like the Dom Test Prototype has more in common with the Gouf Test Prototype than it does with the Prototype Dom. its the rubbing with the q tip thats smudging them. if you dont want to mask just get better and better. practice makes perfect. it basically comes down to how shaky your hands are. try to make clean 1 stroke lines
>>
>>13914360
Take a box cutter, run it along the corners of wherever you want to panel line, apply liner, and then rub off the excess with impunity.
>>
>>13914326
>>13914297
I don't want to make you throw out your kit but you may want to skip gundam markers and go for panel washing.
All you need are enamel paint, lighter fluid, a paint brush and q tips
>>
>>13914379
What should I rub off the excess with, or is a q tip fine.

That's really strange, the pic in the OP is my picture and it's the HG and it came with all 4 beam sabers. It's weird that they would only give you two with the MG of it. Yours looks really awesome btw.

The fin funnels are actually bits. Bits have their own power sources hence why the Nu's are like that. Funnels are kinda battery powered and were meant to be left in space after use. Fangs are a different timeline tech but I imagine are like bits but GN powered.
>>
>>13915657
Yeah, that shield texture looks pretty atrocious.

Instead of the usual "more dakka" route, I'm thinking of adding some sort of flight pack instead.

I'm trying to use as mand of the original parts as possible so it's going to limit exactly what I can do with it (Otherwise I would use a donor kit for parts but then I would end up with a "grandfather's axe" scenario).

>>13917235
Only the one on the far left is a model kit (the old 1/144 NG and the only non-SD kit of the tv version). The middle is an old "mobile suit in action" figure from back in the days of wing on toonami (there is actually a nicer looking improved version of this figure they made later in the same line iirc). And the right is the much more recent Robot Damashii figure and is a very nice figure all around.

The two action figures are non-scale.
