This kicked ass.
>>
>>13753737
It wasn't bad.

The best thing about it was that it's a standalone entry in the franchise so it doesn't ask much of the viewer by alluding heavily on stuff that happened in UC.

It's not without its faults, though. Besides the Gundam, the mech designs didn't look all that good. Animation was okay, but 0080 that came out a few years before and 0083 which would come out a few months after F91 both looked markedly better in my opinion. As for the story...well... It's sort of good and bad for different reasons: It's unoriginal, however it's able to take the basic plots of other Gundam shows that go on for 50 episodes and condense it to a 2hr runtime. It should be applauded for not dwelling on sappy bullshit.

I loved it. I remember that I prefered F91 rather then CCA the first time i both. I have it here so I can rewatch it someday
>>
Criminally underrated. Everyone on /m/ t
Shittalks it but despite its flaws it does an impressively excellent job of portraying a conflict. The visuals were also stunning and the action was badass. Shame it didn't get a series, not because it was unfulfilling, but because i want more anyway.

I love the designs, the Crossbone designs have a very unique appearance that hasn't been replicated in Gundam.
>>
If they did something else with the general F91 timeframe (i.e., doing an animated Crossbone adaptation), I'd be very intrigued. F91 is easily my favorite Gundam movie, and definitely took UC into a new direction without relying on the standard trappings of UC mythos.

I mean, they are both by Tomino and have a female protag so you almost got it anon.

i kind of think that its the only gundam that really properly continued the whole visual style and world design that 0079 had.
>>
>>13762225
Zeta is my favorite and i said it was underrated.
F91 kicks ass, leave zeta alone :(
>>
I really enjoyed it, despite some pacing problems. Also has one of the funniest deaths in Gundam.
>>
The question here is:

will this fucking amazing-looking movie ever get even so much as a half-decent DVD (not even dreaming of a stateside BD) release?!

Motherfucks rereleasing this back in 2009 in non-anamorphic with a transfer struck from a theatrical print.
>>
>>13758449
I love the designs if only because they introduced the Shot Lancer.
>>
>>13762863
It probably is going to get a nationwide BD from RS, i feel like both CCA and F91 will, probably near each other in release date too.

To be honest i find the mechanical design in F91 to be among the best.
>>
I thought it was pretty sweet movie overall. It certainly looks pretty.
>>
>>13758253
>Besides the Gundam, the mech designs didn't look all that good
Hold the fuck up there, F91 has some of the best designs. All the Feddie and CV MS are completely awesome.

>Animation was okay
>0080 looked better
I'd suggest you watch 0080 again, because that was the weakest looking out of all the classic sakuga Gundam.

>>13758449
The CV designs (and indeed Zanscare) were a nice change, when so much of the stuff that came afterwards has been some Zaku derivative looking thing.

It was nice to see them again for what... 5 seconds in GBF? Too bad they didn't reappear in Turn A, even if the actual Zaku sort of made sense to get used.
>>
>>13762061

What? F91 is basically 0079 in a new skin. Kid whose parent played an important part in the design of the new Gundam falls in to the Gundam and has to fight against some new authoritarian threat arising out of a single colony but posing a threat against the Federation out of an apparent desire for independence but is really just a grab for power and involves killing lots of spacenoids to do it. There's nothing new about the direction it took UC at all and it has basically every single standard trapping of UC you could name squeezed in to the space of 2 hours bar perhaps the crazy newtype girl. And even then, you still have Iron Mask who bar his gender fulfills that role as well as being A Char.

Some good ideas don't save this from being a terrible movie.
>>
>>13765787
What's so bad about it? Sure, I'll give you that the plot is mostly a rehash, but it's executed pretty decently imo with great visuals.
>>
>>13765787
If you don't like this movie, you are literally Bennett the Sage tier.

This was a good palate cleanser to watch right after finding CCA to be incoherent shit, Seabook probably first UC protag not to be a total shitstain

I'm confused, is there only one Berga Dalas piloted by Dorel or was it a mass produced commander type?

It was mass produced, but being phased out by the berga giros at the time.

>>
>>13766070
>getting this upset at fictional characters
>>
>>13766074
yes, i do get upset over these things.

i actually know a few retarded people like sochie, flay, or quess actually exist in real life. watching people like them behave as they are in a show i actually want to enjoy reminds me of them, and that just ruins the show.

I think you are the one that needs to watch 0080 again. The opening battle and end battle looked as good if not better than F91.

God, this promo gives away way too much.

I'm not the same guy, but I honestly don't remember too many notable scenes (in terms of animation) in 0080 besides the beginning battle which is pretty good. F91 is full of great stuff though.

You all arguing about this movie are a bunch of faggets

this production was sabotaged, you know the story, it's a miracle the crew managed to release something that's watchable at all

F91 has every right to be divisive, you don't like it? Kiss my ass you don't like it, it's literally an abortion and against all odds it manages to be more than the sum of its parts, or close
>>
>>13766281
But what's so bad about it?
>>
it's got narrative problems up the ass, the more I watch it the more I notice them

on the other hand, what it gets right it hits right on the bullseye

The only shit designs I can think of off the top of my head are the fucking Rafflesia and its AIDS bots.

You're not immersing yourself in the story you idiot. The fact that characters are able to remind of you real life people means you're not actually immersed. Fucking faggot

>>
>>13766391
F91 was originally going to be a full series, a shit ton of production trouble happens when some sort of staff disputes while it's going on, and it gets shit canned into a movie based off of the first 13 episodes of what was supposed to be a 50 episode series.

Hence why it has allot of narrative issues, and a big chunk of the overarcing story that didn't get to happen that would have taken place after the movie (Berah's Return with Seabook and establishing a separatist faction in the CBV and taking it down) was only mentioned in passing like once in crossbone.
>>
>>13769260

The two machines without Shot Lancers turn traitor, coincidence? I like that every designed based off the Vigna Ghina gives it a Shot Lancer, with the Vigna Ronah having like 7 including one huge one.
>>
Visually fantastic, but no one can try to tell me the pacing was good. It makes sense since it was supposed to be a full series, but I still think it's a valid criticism.
The final fight also sucked balls. On the whole, I enjoyed it though.

I don't know about that, victory comes close at times though.
Also i just noticed victory, f91, and crossbone all have some pretty sexy legs and back thrusters on their mobile suits.
>>
>>13778840
Valid criticism with a valid excuse of suppose to of been a full series?
>>
>>13779630

I think they're still pretty unique in design, particularly the Berga Dalas, Giros and Vigna Ghina have a very knightly appearance.
>>
>>13779521
At the very least I wish they'd make a manga that xontinued the story based on whatever they planned out for the 50 episode series. I mean, they've made manga of everything from Beltorchika's Children to the life stories of every random Zeon MSV Ave but still haven't done anything with F91? Fuck you Sunrise.
>>
>>13780254
Let's face it, it's the Battle of 1999 of Gundam (really, Castlevania fans had it worse in regards to knowing whatever it is that happened between Portrait of Ruin and Aria of Sorrow).
