Is The Legend of Black Heaven a good substitute for a Macross 7 dub?

I'm not surprised, but I thought /m/ would at least know about it given the popularity of Macross here. The subtitle is "Hard Rock Save Space."
The Legend of Black Heaven is about a failed metal rocker cum salaryman whogets picked up by hot alien babes because his music is actually a powerful energy capable of winning an interstellar war for them. So, they want to use his music to fuel their ultimate weapon.

Given the music and the idea of using music to win a war, I thought it might be a good substitute for Macross 7. It's kind of a cross of Basara's role in Macross 7 with Dai-Guard's slice of life/work and that really generic and dated early-2000s artstyle. Directed by the director of Comet Lucifer.

I'm not sure whether you can substitute it for Macross, but it's certainly worth watching.
