Most of the rest of your post unsurprisingly makes little sense, tripfag. You can totally go public with stories about aliens. You have fucking physical evidence in the form of destroyed bug mechs, data from meteor3, combat logs from fighting said bug mechs, documents from the governments aborted attempts at surrendering in antarctica, etc. There's also the superadvanced mechs that blow everything else out of the water, which are built from reverse engineering alien tech.

The aliens threatening cities is a scenario you have to deal with regardless of who is in charge, and just starting a war that destroys a significant part of the military which could presumably stop such an attack does not, in fact, make capitulation LESS likely.

But the problem wasn't the politicians keeping a secret, the problem was that they wanted to surrender Earth to the aliens without a fight, only guaranteeing their own lives. Killing them was the only option. Even if Bian revealed the aliens to the mass, politicians could still do their thing, feign ignorance etc. Everything Bian, Shu, Sanger, Maier and Elzam did was necessary, but everything his subordinates did was war crime.

All the evidence about aliens you can muster can be handwaved, especially by the government that has a vested interest in keeping things quiet. Everything would be under lock and key, and any attempt to bring things to light can be laughed at, called a hoax, or debunked. Even showing off a Huckebein and saying you built it based on things you found in a rock can't be proven.
Bian didn't want a civil war, he wanted to blitz the army and take control quickly.

The DC focusing on fighting the military that had no idea what was going on WAS a bad thing. They had huge technological superiority, space supremacy and total surprise. They probably also had a list of who in the government was trying to benefit from surrender. They could've focused on killing those people, then taking the reigns of government long enough to guarantee Earth was alerted to the threat and started preparing to deal with it.
That course of action is radically different than what Bian chose to go with.

Also, it's mainly the damage formula. In the old days Will was fucking everything for some reason, so Rouse and Yell were the most important spirits in the game because if you get to 150 will on turn 1 or 2 everything dies. Other than that it's just douchey but not that harmful stuff like accuracy depending on mobility.

The big ones are
1) Morale/Will is a straight final percentage multiplier in the formula rather than modern SRW where it adds to stats - in practice, this means Wonkysoft damage adjustment from Will is roughly more than 2x it would be compared to modern SRW
Also enemies don't inherently gain +1 Will per kill, which is why Yell spam is a strategy that stomps all over them.
(Kinda like morale actually making a big difference instead of something you're expected to hit the cap nowadays for little to no advantage but oh well)
2) There is no Defense stat - Armor yes, but not Defense. This means that attacks rapidly outscale defense as the game goes on and you would need something ridiculous like 3k armor or 120k HP + Guard to tank in the late game.
3) Mobility affects both accuracy and evasion - it didn't affect Accuracy in Alpha Gaiden up until Z1.
