I actually really like the song, and despite the flaws the show has I really liked TRY, but I'd say a lot of it is simply because it's Build Fighters.
The PV actually made me feel a bit fluttery, but I'm a sucker for letting music in visual media invoke emotional responses from me.

I seriously want a Build Fighters series that has a round-robin setup. As in, everyone fight everyone else once. This means we get to see everyone fight, and more importantly it also allow the protagonists to lose a few matches without affecting their eventual victory. Ideally I want matches that are less formal and more for fun than anything serious. I don't want drama getting in the way of this. Just a thought.

No, you're missing the point. GuP actually understood team battles. Part of the complaint about Try was that the team battles weren't properly utilised. No shit you don't do it exactly like in tank battles for robot battles. The idea is understanding the essence of what fits the concept and what makes it work.

It's not about the format. GuP works because of the character interactions. In fact, I got the same vibe out of GuP as I did with BF season 1, hings like how the opponents manage to have some level of impact on or connection with the MCs and general TANOSHII atmosphere regarding the sport and all that - which BFT didn't have.

100% this. The first season never forgot that this was all suppose to be enjoyable for the participants, that they would play the game even if there was no tournaments and nothing to play for. Hell, they would play even without the play table. They would use their imaginations if they had to. But Try dropped that.
Build Fighters was fun to watch, with clever fights, likable characters who interacted with each other and grew as characters and in terms of skill, everyone seemed to be having fun and the show was packed with Gundam references.
Try was not fun to watch, had terrible fights because all the strategy was being used BY THE OPPONENTS and then Sekai would asspull his way to victory with a stock martial arts move, the three main characters were so unlikable everyone wanted them to lose in the end, no one interacted with each other, not even people on the same team, no one seemed to be having any kind of fun and just wanted to win for the sake of winning, and if you removed the Gundams from Try and replaced them with Pokemon or something it would be the exact same show.
Try was so bad on so many levels. It was fundamentally broken because it was just two single elimination tournaments back to back, so anyone that you happened to like, they're just going to have 1 fight and get the fuck out of there, with no chance of coming back or whatever to make it interesting.

in the entire cast of Try only Minato and Adou displayed creativity and love for gunpla and gunpla battling. Everyone else had some dramatic reason like they were traumatized by a previous loss or their brother had AIDS or their they were power mad with the Dark Hadou or whatever butthurt reason those three little fagboy triplets had. I mean the main characters wanted to win just because they wanted to win.
In S1 characters like the Renatos and Meijin II got shat on for being joyless tryhards. In S2 90% of the cast are joyless tryhards.
