The appeal of Macross 7's music mostly comes down to it fitting what the show is about moreso than any other Macross. It's goofy, cheesy as hell, but also upbeat, energetic, and with enough of an edge to it to properly frame a battle. In other words, it's perfect for a show about rock and roll giant robots singing at space vampires.
On its own, it's the kind of music that fans of 80s hair metal would enjoy.

You're ignorant. DYRL was also released and dubbed in italian in the early nineties. The VHS cost quite a bit too. Unfortunately it was never released in DVD because of Harmony Shit.
I'm sure beyond Sweden some other countries got to enjoy DYRL dubbed faithfully in their own language.
Only the english version was butchered, and the dubbing was never good since it was made by a bunch of amateurs maybe from HK ?
The people who put out the old 009 dub and uncut Arcadia dub also released DYRL in the USA on VHS
