The first season does the horror influence much more than the others. The rest are much more fantasy with bits of horror thrown in occasionally. Not exactly a bad thing considering stuff like Lament, but I do sometimes miss the more intense atmosphere

I keep a central "Ongoing" folder that my RSS feeds download into, and I have subfolders for every toku/anime I follow in a season. Once I finish an episode, the episode goes into the folder, and once I finish a series, the subfolder is sent to my archive hard drive. It's a system that's worked flawlessly for years by now, but I suppose it's not much help if you don't want to archive. In that case, you could just use a text file.

No I meant like, the previous episode, the family they worked so hard to save got chomped anyways.
And then this guy not only makes everything harder for Ryuga by giving Riveria the evidence they need to frame him for murder, he also gets chomped by the same Horror that chomped his girlfriend, without ever describing said horror to Ryuga.
And then the Love Interest is actually a Horror is also a downer trend.
And sure the Playboy Knight did get his waifu, but going by the establish trend she's either gonna get chomped either off screen or in front of his eyes, or get turned into a Horror like the SG-1 captain lady.

Do you think León thinks that at the end of the day? Do you think he considers that he would have been better off alone his whole life? Germán is a shitty dad is an incredibly shallow judgement. He was actively trying to help León get over his anger the whole time. Maybe the method wasn't the right one. But he is a Makai Knight, not a psychologist. The fact is that he was there with his son, trying to help him. And León now understand and appreciate it. It's like life itself. Your dad might be treating you in a way that you hate now, but over time you understand that he was trying to help, even if you don't agree with his ways. People can even teach other people how to be a Makai Knight, but no one teaches you how to be a parent. You just try to do what you think is best for your son. To me, it's clear as water that if the current León and Ryuga met, León would feel pity over Ryuga never having a dad and Ryuga would feel somewhat jealous over León sharing all those years with Germán.

I am trying to put some order on my homemade Garo chronology, certainly needed after Maka retsuden. I have TV shows, movies and mangas under control, but I am not sure about the novels.
I have in the chronology:
- Ankoku makai kishi hen: Supposedly an anthology of stories set around season 1.
- Youseki no wana: The one about the tournament.
- Hagane no houkou: Raiga as a kid before Kouga's dissapearance and a lot of lore.
- Más allá de las nubes púrpuras (I don't have the English nor japanese name of this, only an Spanish translation): Murasaki's story since he survived the attack at the camp.
Am I missing something? Is there anymore novel or short story?

You're welcome. Actually, I'm the guy who translated Hagane no Houkou and Shiun no Kanata (my native language is Spanish). In case you wonder, the kanji for Shiun no Kanata is 紫雲の彼方, meaning "Over the Purple Clouds." This short novel was included in the special booklet from MAKAISENKI Complete Box, so it's no wonder it's the rarest one. I've been thinking about translating Shiun no Kanata into English for a while, but I've been reluctant to do it because of how awkward my long texts end up sounding in English. Maybe I'll get to it one of these days, it'd be better than nothing, I guess. I've also read both full length novels, but those will definitely take me a while to translate, if I ever get to it.

As far as translation work is concerned, currently my main focus are the live action series (17 episodes into Makai no Hana now). I know that this might be considered somewhat autistic, as there exist other Spanish versions, and I'm not even sharing all I translate, but there are reasons. I was thinking about taking the chance with the first series HD remaster and start advertising my page more since I have the subs ready, though.

The story is after White Night Beast and before Red Requiem, so it should be some years after Ankoku Makai Kishi hen.
But then in Youseki no WanaYaiba has won the tournament, and summoned his master's spirit. Kiba returned, and took over Akatsuki's body. Kouga and gang has to fight Kiba once more.

You got that somewhat mixed.Actually, Akira (Yaiba) casted a spell on Barago's madou lighter. It suposedly was a spell to revive Barago taking over somebody else body. Akatsuki triggered the spell, but the one revived wasn't Barago, it was Kiba (actually just the armor using Akatsuki's body). This happens during the final fight between Akira and Kouga. Kouga, Rei, Tsubasa and Akira fight together to defeat Kiba. After the calamity, Akira is declared winner of the Sabak because Kouga spilled some blood from a wound he got while bringing Akira's scythe. It was in fact very stupid, and even Akira was angry over winning like that. As winner, he got the enter the chamber of the dead and met good Barago's ghost. Barago even tells him that he helped Kouga before dying, so Akira would get over his grudge against Kouga.
So I wouldn't call it inconsistent. The only remotely inconsistent part is the reincarnation, but it's possible to assume that it wasn't immediately after dying. Or simply ignore it by calling it time shenanigans.
I think that the inconsistency comes from the episode that explains Barago's past. It's totally different from what we see in Kiba gaiden, an I've read that they say that there are a lot of Golden Knights, which seems unlikely.

Still, the part about there being more than one Golden Knight was an initial setting also mentioned in complementary materials like the first Makai no Sho. The thing is that by the time of the first series, there was a lot that wasn't quite decided yet. So the mention of more than one Golden Knight in Ankoku Makai Kishi Hen is just a consequence of the time in which is was written. The writer, Yuji Kobayashi, who was the de facto main writer of the series, also took the liberty to depict Barago's past (in fact, Barago is the character most featured in the book, being the protagonist of 3 out of the 11 chapters). When Amemiya made the Kiba movie, he showed a different past for Barago. It's obvious that the live action weights more than anything, so Barago's past definitely got retconned, but there's nothing that keeps one from considering the rest of the novels canon.
As a side note, Ankoku Makai Kishi hen had another part that would later become an inconsistency with the live action. The fact that the word "barago" is revealed to mean "hope" in ancient Makai language. This posed a conflict with Hagane no Houkou (and later RED REQUIEM) where there is revealed that "garo" means "hope" in ancient Makai language. However, in Youseki no Wana they tried to fix at least that, by revealing the old Makai proverb "Baraduk barago yaryba garo," translating as "Every knight is a light of hope," from which both words derive, both holding a meaning of hope.

About the rest of the novel, I haven't read it because i don't know japanese, but with Garo I always see canon as "Everything that doesn't contradict Amemiya's work", so the rest of the episodes of the novel are still valid for me.

Well, luckily enough, the only other Golden Knight mentioned in the novel besides Kouga and Taiga was Barago's dad, which only appears in the chapter about Barago's past. So said chapter was the only one that got removed outright from the continuity.
