***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

And I'm not expecting much from a SEED HG but this one looks hard to fix. Not with my current skill.
>>
Looking forward to getting the Cripple Slayer's FAG on Friday to celebrate finishing my classes.
>>
>>14242402
why not mg
>>
>>14242405
I'm an HG loving scrub, and don't want to wait a couple months to get the MG FAG. I do plan on getting it down the line, but for now I'm fine with the HG since I want a couple Thunderbolt GMs too.
>>
mg sazabi ver ka for $70 or PG red frame for $116?
>>
>>14242463
do you like uc or do you want nippon damashii big sword

i'd go with the sazabi
>>
>>14242470
how about rg sinaju vs mg sazabi
>>
>>14242471
Well, the RG Sinanju isn't out for another three months anon, which design do you prefer? Are you going to paint and/or mod these kits? I'd still go with the Sazabi imo its one of the best (if not the best) MGs in the line

I'd recommend not getting kits just for the sake of it and just working hard on the kits/designs you do like. You'll spend less money and like what you get out of the hobby a whole lot more.
>>
>>14242481
youre right thanks anon. honestly i like sinaju more. i was going to buy the hguc but rg blows that out ofthe water.

i was thinking of getting tamiya gunmetal spray can for joints, hands, and weapons.
then applying all decals to my models

>>14242865
I think he means splitting the front skirts, I don't see any damage to the kit. The gouge-looking thing is probably just a reflection of the plastic wrapping. But usually with newer HGs they're fairly simple and easy to split because of how they're built, with the two ball shapes keeping them fixed in place, like in pic related. With that seed kit it looks like if you cut it in half it'll just fall out from the sides, since there's nothing to keep it in place. There's a technique to split these older ones
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgNpKT2BBnQ
but the guy said "Not with my current skill" so I don't think he's comfortable enough yet to try it
>>
>>14242973
I think It's a better idea to display it on a shelf rather than the ceiling.
>>
>>14242904
How well would that work though? Surely the skirts would be prone to falling off the brass rod if it weren't glued.
>>
>>14242990
That anon must be from Australia.

What's the best sword to do Obari poses with?

In 1/144 scale?

In 1/100 scale?
>>
>>14243078
I'm not entirely sure, as I don't really have any older kits to do that on, but I'd wager that friction is enough to keep it together unless you're pulling it from the sides.
>>
>>14242285
I bought mine for pretty cheap, it's the same as the Slaughter Dagger and the Gunbarrel is cool to have on display by itself.
http://dqfg.blogspot.com/2015/08/how-to-use-hgbc-balden-arm-arms-to-add.html
>>
>>14243109
1/100, they have more of a presence and can usually hold that pose better
>>
Say, what's a good SEED MG to get someone as a gift? They like the ∞ Justice and Impulse, think the Strike Freedom is too busy, and feel indifferent towards the Saviour fucking how?
They prefer SEEDshit to 00shit if that gives you anything to work with.
>>14242089
>>14242095
Thanks fampiés. I may or may not get it down the line.
>>
>>14243180
I personally collect SEED kits and the MG Impulse and Infinite Justice are both great kits, personally they are probably better than the MG Strike Freedom. All of the SEED 10 year anniversary MGs are some of the best out there, and if you just want a sturdy kit then the Buster is a great choice. If you want something to just represent the series then going for a Strike or Impulse is not bad. The old Strike is still the best of the old MGs but it'd probably be better to get the ver.RM.
>>
>>14243196
They've got an Impulse already, same with ∞ Justice. Probably shoulda said. I think they went in for the Impulse over the Strike.

I'll browse the 10 years.
>>
>>14243109
I'd go with the Destiny's Arondight.

For SEED it's not as big of a deal because the battles are pretty crappy but for most else you're going to want to look up a couple YouTube clips or something.
>>
>>14246197
What board are you from?
>>
>>14246197
If I were you I would've started with a modern HG kit instead. RG kits are a little harder to deal with for a beginner, and the Justice has serious weight issues with the backpack if its not on a stand. Good luck though!
>>
>>14246217
>>14246223
>>14246224
I guess I'm maybe approaching it from the wrong angle. My vector into my purchasing decision was this. Looking around 4chan -> /m/ this thread (earlier iteration) -> the guide -> amazon -> and then I just chose Justice for the color scheme.

Now that I've bought it I see that Gundam Seed isn't a favorite timeline and I don't really want to devote the time to watching a lesser series. I might try to start uc this weekend.

>>14246252
It won;t be that bad, just be careful and take your time. C:
>>
>>14246252
Don't let that dissuade you. In fact, watching SEED purely through YouTube clips might be the best way to enjoy it because you get all the battles of your MS design with none of the crap. On the other hand, the #1 rule of /m/ is to not listen to other people's opinions because they're usually wrong, so watch it and form your own opinion. However the other anon was right, RGs are a horrible choice if you're a total beginner because you're guaranteed to fuck up on your first regardless and RGs will give you plenty of opportunities to fuck up. If you wanna watch UC to get into gunpla then be warned, it's a pretty big investment of time. Gunpla is usually a supplement to the show so you can enjoy it after the screen turns off, not the other way around. I'd suggest going on along and finding what designs you like. If it's an AU, jump right in, otherwise get on the train for production order UC.

Speaking of, although it's 100% fine to watch SEED with no prior knowledge, it was initially intended as kind of a reboot to the original UC timeline so you'll make a lot more connections if you watch UC first.
>>
>>14246256
It seems I'll only get to Seed if I get really hooked. I hope I still like Justice after I watch it.

>>14246257
Definitely not going to rush it. As of now I have half of Saturday set aside to start it.

>>14246274
Pretty much committed to UC at this point. I'll probably just start with the newest series and decide if I want to stick to it from there.

Whatever the outcome I'll be sure to post the results.

>Start with the newest series
Of UC? No friend, for UC you go from the start with the original MSG. Either the show or movies. There are guide images on /m/, check the archives for any guide thread. The newest UC show would be Thunderbolt or Origin, both offering heavily altered looks at the same time period that the original MSG takes place in. It's best to either start at MSG or pick an AU you prefer and watch that. For the newest AU that would be Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans. The designs in it are neat and melee focused and the models are very cheap and well made, if that matters to you.

>>14246309
>Pretty much committed to UC at this point.
Then start with the 0079 TV show.
Take your time with it, too. The characters grow on you much more than they do in the movies, and the longer experience is worth it. Feel free to check the movies out when you've finished the series, but they have nothing new except a few minutes in total of re-done animation.

You'll find that a lot of us made the same sorts of mistakes.
Nowadays I scrutinize models from older series thoroughly if I'm interested in a kit. Sometimes it's inconsequential (I still picked up an HG virtue, and it's a solid kit despite some of the shortcomings shared with older engineering) but at least I know what I'm getting into.
Usually I check for articulation, the type of joints used for the arms and legs (ball vs peg) and then color separation.
Nowadays I'm really not disappointed in the kits I'm buying, but you'll find that you need to really wrestle with your kit standards vs the designs you really like.
Sometimes, sacrifice is necessary. Live and learn, anon.

Snap building a Schwalbe Graze, just have the leg and back thursters left, might do it this evening.

I don't really like the design as much as I thought I did. I'm the Anon who snapped the horn a week or so back and fixed it with plastic cement. It doesn't look great, but good enough for a snapfitter like me.
There's still a few things that need cleaning up or redoing like the lining on the gun, and sanding some of the nub marks

The original GM is the best, and looks great when displayed together with the Gundam, in my opinion. GM Striker is also really good, like some anons said. Here are the basics, or at least what I remember:
>When starting the spray, spray away from the model and then spray over it. If you start the spray on the model, it could splatter paint which looks ugly.
>Don't spray too close
>Don't spray too far
>Buy a gas mask or you die.
>Be sure to clean the entire brush properly after you're done, or else the paint will dry and clog the brush or break it or something.
>Don't spray when it's windy or the wind might blow all the paint fumes into your eyes. I learned that one the hard way. Yes it was stupid. Yes I'm stupid.

That's all I can remember right now. It's not that hard or complicated anyway, the rest you'll learn as you go along.

They could easily do:
>P-Bandai Space/Command v2 based on the Sniper II
>Striker is used as a base for the Desert GM, changes are pretty minimal
>Desert GM is easily given an Armored GM variant

>Land Combat P-Bandai based on Desert GM
>GM Spartan based on the Sniper II
>GM Night Seeker because it's literally just a new head with a backpack that straps over shoulders
>GM Cannon is just a new torso and cannonpack
>you could probably squeeze a Sniper Custom out of the Sniper II
And that's not going into all of the forgotten variations that would require (gasp) an entirely new mold. For example, the GM Light Armor is a totally different shape than the vanilla GM but it could serve as a base for the GM Trainer, too.

RIP GM, Bandai doesn't love you like I do.

>>
>>14250232
Probably the final draft right here. Dunno how much longer the thread will be up but in any case I'm thinking of trying it out. It's basically just Silver Bullet shoulders and no arm shields but it greatly simplifies the design for better or for worse. I can't think of a good substitute for the legs or backpack so I think those are fine as they are.
>>
>>14250580
Arm-shields and shoulder-wings make the design, and are kinda important for its transformation. If you're getting rid of those things, you kinda don't need the backpack either. At this rate, you might as well just make a Tryon3.
>>
>>14250612
I know, the point was to take away the parts that some people hate which is obviously going to mean its unique features. The transformation is also criticized as useless or gimmicky so although it wasn't my intention to change it, there's no loss if it's gone. Sure, it's a lot more generic, but I always like to see new designs based off of something familiar, especially when the aesthetics are changed.

The Exia N3 Razor is a triplet-drive GN-powered machine. Much of its excess power is stored in flat condenser packs on its shoulder-mounted condenser/armor plates. Based on Gundam Exia and 00 Gundam, the Exia N3 is a 3rd stage in development to utilize and synchronize 3 GN drives. Initially developed to replace the 00 (but later dropped in favor of the less expensive Quan[t]) the frame of the N3 is built to accept a GN drive at its center, and the two GN drives of the 00 mounted outboard. The outboard GN drive mounting points are borrowed from the 00 since the design itself is quite robust and versatile (and is compatible with raiser condensers). Sadly, the tri-drive system was going to take 3 times longer to develop than another twin drive, hence the frame remaining empty of any GN drives and being relegated to the prototype archives of celestial being's facilities. However the prototype's design was taken for use in the development of the quan[t] where the center mounted + side offset drive system was carried over almost entirely.

Model lore:
The N3 is a highly flexible and adaptable machine, capable of filling both high mobility, heavy armor, short range, and long range combat roles on the fly. Despite significantly heavier equipment and a heavily reinforced interior armor under-structure, the mobile suit maintains a slim profile of nearly the same dimensions as the 00. As it takes much of its structure from the 00 model, while maintaining exia's sensors (exia torso). the model is quick and light, but can be outfitted with the Unique N3 Raiser condensers to raise its overall high speed/long range capabilities.

Haven't posted an update on my MG Leo in a while. It's starting to come together pretty well.

Used the last of my styrene sheets on those ass thruster pods. I ain't complaining, though. 6 years worth of material was a pretty good purchase, in my opinion.

Everything else is getting closer to the final shape I want them at. I'll be able to see where I'm going wrong on a lot of these surfaces once my can of leveling primer gets here.

I cut about half a centimeter out of the lower legs to get him down to grunt height. Wish I had another Tallgeese so I could compare it to the changes made here. That'll probably be my next gunpla purchase, since I've been wanting to do a clean kit build for a while now.

It's not even that it's shit. It has superior posability without a doubt, but I got it because of that new engineering and I thought it might be just as good- really what I thought was love was only lust and the morning after I looked at her and I thought "Jesus christ, what a mistake."
Wherefore the JimCannonII (JimC2) has that awesome solid blocky look, the Guncannon is really rounded and not particularly imposing (as it should be considering it's a support unit, but that's not here or there), it also has nothing else going for it. I'm sure you saw in the pictures JimC2 has a shield, has a saber and looks GOOD while posing with them. I have figured out jack shit to pose Guncannon with rather than "I'm holding my two cannons and firing them!" or "I'm laying down and aiming my cannons!"
This wouldn't be an issue either if I had bit the bullet and bought the older MP Guncannon, which is sort of a solid blend of both- but I did not. I bought the shiny new toy because I thought I REALLY liked it. I only kind of like it, but getting another model that fills the same sort of niche so soon is wasteful, so I'm still trying to find ways to love Guncannon.

But I need more escorts for the 1/144 Deep Striker I'm eventually going to pick up! I'm also planning on making a Hummingbird.
>>
>>14252694
it sucks! joints too loose. No polycaps just cotton stuffing. You have to paint the eyes.
>>
>>14253516
What did you use to panel line it?

Blood. I thought red on red would give it a weathered look and be more realistic.

Ours truly is a cultural ghetto.
>>
>>14253569
just get a little baggie of little sticky gems from any craft store, shave off the peg that normally holds the eye and then glue a pink one to the now flat surface. looks way better than the sticker
>>
>>14253580
got any pics of this in action. sounds neat

How can you make RG stickers look good? Will trimming them and topcoat make them look ok or do most of you just but waterslides?

Is RE100 Bawoo actually confirmed or is Gundamguy bullshitting again?
>>
>>14253884
It doesnt even look like a bawoo

>>14253892
if any news has the caveat of "you'll have to take my word for it", its probably not true.

but i would love a 1/100 bawoo so.
>>
>>14253892
Derringer dropped some hints that it might be but it all depends on how you interpret it. On a post that said "there's no way it's a Bawoo's silhouette" he responded and said that the lighting was at fault. That's all we have so I wouldn't make any predictions yet.
>>
>>14253916
The shoulders were just to big to be anything similar to a bawoo
No lighting can get that rounded and enlogated shape
>>
>>14253930
Like I said.

also picked up a tri-star 1/35 Pz. IV Ausf. D

for the anglerfish

I haven't built a 1/35 armor kit with this many parts ever. It has those individual link tracks that make the zaku II tubes look like the most fun thing in the world

If it is the Bawoo this will be the first RE/100 representation of a kit which already exists in the HGUC lineup.

It wasn't the lighting but the card stock/panel behind the figure that fell over. So instead of the light being filling the box as expected it caused it to cast its light/shadows differently giving the impression its upper body was way more elongated.

Shit guys in denial over something as simple as shining a flashlight to cast dramatic shafows for ghost stories. But he didn't confirm or deny anything. The most direct yet broad response he gave was about more hg thunderbolt kits in the works. Broad enough to imply yes they are kits not being shown to the public there but not direct enough to confirm those kits are thunderbolt. Has to be more careful after that indecent last time.
