OC is the Unknown Soldier: the ghost of a random soldier killed by the OG bad guys and so pissed by the pointlessness of it all he came back to kill them all. He's a skeleton wearing a bomber jacket, a pilot helmet and a scarf. Personality-wise he's a pretty chill dude out of fights (he's already dead after all), but becomes super hyped/angry when fighting.
OC mech is the Junkyard, a piece of destroyed junk kept together only through ghost powers. It looks like a destroyed and rusted real but handles like a super. Endgame Upgrade is the Necrolord, an even more undead looking robot that can now open a rift to hell to summon angry ghosts to fuck up enemies. Basically all the attacks are the animators trying to make the most heavy metal cover-looking attacks possible.

I think in the OG games, at least the early GBA ones, a guys only run would actually be more difficult than a girls only run. You still get to use most of the same units either way, and you can buy the skills you want, but without the women you miss out on all of the awesome support spirits like Enable, Renew, Hope, Attune and Bless. None of the men have any of those, all you get is Rouse from Russel and the occasional Trust or Faith here and there. Tornado Blade is a lot stronger than Royal Heart Breaker, but you wouldn't be able to use it nearly as many times.

OG2 GBA is stupid hard on a girls-only run because you hit the final boss and your only combo attack is RHB. This happened to me. My main damage dealer was Shine. It was bad times.
You could probably do it with tons of support attacks, but god it would be a pain in the ass. Guys would be a lot easier just because of being able to throw Sanger and Ratsel at any problem.
OG1 is piss-easy, you could do either with no problem.

Yes. You could fill up the entire chart except for one bar (say the money suborder).
You then press start to individually do the sub order till you get everything except for the one that has a blank suborder.
Then go to the blank suborder and press Triangle + L or R and it'll take you to the other suborders that were already done. You can then substitute it for whatever the hell you want by pressing circle (like kills or PP or level). You have to do this per one character so it's a bit tedious. Not really game breaking but at least some extra kills or PP or levels are alright.

Looking at the CR Pachinko videos, it doesn't look like the R-3, and Gespenst RV are getting resized sprites. They other units are hard to make out, so I'm not sure if they made any changes to their sprites (Soulgain, Angelg, and Vaisaga show up, but I didn't see them in combat just static poses in the middle of an attack).

Well, looking at this, we've already got a history with the stuff before Shin vs Neo, which is basically Early Getter. I dunno anything of Kantam Robo's plot, if it even has one since show in a show, so not touching that, but we've got wars fighting against each other with both the Sleeves and the Jupiter Empire already being a thing. The government is already showing signs of corruption from both Unicorn, Megazone 23, and Yugoku being one of the first to take actual action against it. On top of all of this, it's currently being invaded by the Space Devil Empire and the alien prisoners from Sargasso, and to top it off they're even coming from the ground with the Dinosaur Empire. So pretty standard fare but I could see it meshing together sort of well, given a few liberties here and there.

Well, it's...coherent, at least. To an extent. We can at least pick out a few things about the world from just the series present alone.

With that there's no moon, so anything to do with that has a nice big monkey wrench. Orguss 02 and Ryu Knight being here add some interesting variety to the world, either being brought in from their own or the world itself being slightly on the mystical side of things. There's a LOT going on in this world, with the Titans, and the Shadow Angels, to the Buff Clan and the Riofaldians (the interactions between Ideon and Exaxxion might be golden since they're so similar), along with god knows how much else. It has the same connection to early Getter that the last one did, so there's some world building right there, and I can imagine Amuro knowing Ryoma and the crew. There's just so much going on here that I feel like one or two of these have to be regulated to post-script just to keep things from getting to convoluted. In a way, it actually feels like it's setting things up for series down the line, since a lot of these could lead into things later on.

Renegade Mulian mad scientist Barbem made the Xephon System which consists of Rahxephon and Belxephon which can rewrite the two worlds into one (or, according to side materials, just restore them to two separate worlds).The system activates through a ritual in which the two fight, and the winner's Orin (pilot) decides what the resulting world will be like subconsciously. This is the tuning. (Barbem himself isn't rying to save the world/s he just wantsto see his masterpiece creations remake everything.)
Ayato is Rahxephon's Orin, while Kuon (his biological mother) is Belxephon's.
Yolotheotl is the state of the Orin becoming worthy of the Xephon and enabling it to participate in the ritual. The Ishtori are manifestations of the Xephons' will (never seen in the show, but Belxephon/Kuon's Ishtori takes on Ayato's form).
The whole show is basically people trying to influence Ayato and Kuon so that the tuning will benefit them more. Ayato was kidnapped because if left the way he was at the beginning of the series, his winning would have had him create a world completely beneficial to the Mulians, and since he was unaware of the outside world, it might have erased everything except Mu entirely.

Kou learns Direct Hit, but DH doesn't break Phase Shift. It also doesn't break PS in Z games. Mainline SRW for some reason makes PS unable to be pierced except by beams which is a real bother.
Not so much in Z where weapons get proper beam typing, and after the first game, only allied units have it.
Don't let anyone ever say I treat Zeorymer better than the rest of my team.

Kou was only a bad pilot in the classic games. Ever since he either had late bloomer growth or a solid spirit set that hits the right points to offset his mediocre for a RR main character stats.

One the other hand, she's the only one of the light fairies that gets a damage spirit.
But honestly, I don't particularly mind wonky spirit sets, as long as the unit in question has some way to make itself useful despite the resulting spirit deficiencies. Flan is a good example. Sure, she's an evasion-reliant unit whose only defensive spirit is guard, but she's also fun as hell to use. In fact, I'd argue that her glass cannon setup is a key part of why she's fun.
You don't need everyone to be good at everything. Things are more interesting when your units have flaws here and there.

What I'm saying is that there's only so many ways you can do a spirit set without it being gimmicky and having overlaps. That's why I used Sunny because her spirit set is a prime example of what happens if you cram nearly every defensive spirit on one character.
With regards to Flan, she's just an evasion oriented Getter 1 with no Hayato and Musashi/Benkei as spirit banks. Granted Getter 1 doesn't have someone to give it free S Ranks in conjunction with HP/EN Regen.

If you ask me, there's nothing wrong with being gimmicky. And while Sunny's set is often redundant, having alert and invincible on the same character does have its uses, especially if you're trying to use her as boss bait (which, let's be honest, that's really her main role).
