Actually, I think its intentional as a design choice. Its almost outlandish the shape of the limbs, the only one in recent memory are the gorilla arms of the Fafners. Its probably done to show how weird the fight scenes are.

In the first big encounter and even in this one she was able to assist Kennosuke in pointing out attacks coming from his blind spot, though not as much in this one, but they had give GAUS 1 and 2 some more work to do.
I'm sure her value will increase once she understands more about how the HUD works and gets her sexy pilot suit.
Man this show just puts me on edge I just keep hoping it doesn't turn to shit every episode it has everything needed for it.

Nice episode. I like the Samurai-like fighting of these robots. I’d say Ken is a really resourceful guy. He not only holds his ground in a 3-vs-1 fight, but he skillfully defeated the “Yellow Crab” with its own sword. That’s a cool samurai skill right there.
Also, why do I feel that the explosion will cause the death of a named character (aka. that kid who filmed the whole thing)? His overt-enthusiasm is almost like screaming “I’ll die” in this kind of anime. I hope I’m wrong, but who knows?
I do have one problem with the show so far: GAUS’ design. Not that it’s bad, but the more I see it, the more I think it’s boring. It was so blocky and lacks character. Having a giant bipedal robot is already a style-over-substance practice in a mecha show, so at least make them look good. Heck, most of the cannon-fodders in Code Geass and various Gundam series have more character than GAUS, and some mechas from obscure shows like M3 & Argevollen looks a LOT better. Compared to them, GAUS looks like Danbooru. A not-cute Danbooru at that .
Oh yeah, there are some elements in this episode that reminds me of something else:
-I think Yellow Crab’s blue extending-arm-claw is a shout out to Shenlong Gundam’s Dragon Fang from Gundam Wing. The fact that both Shenlong Gundam & the extension arm have white-&-light-blue colors on them shouldn’t be a mere coincidenc.
-Hedo’s self-destruct after having a face-to-face moment with his opponents reminds me a lot of the ending of the Predator movie. All Hedo need to do is laughing out loud until the explosion happens and it would be perfect .
-The Bandana-kid & the CellCam-kid are really Touji & Kensuke expies from Evangelion.
-It just hit me that Ken’s “steed” looks a lot like Batman’s The Tumbler from TDK trilogy. The difference being: it flies, it has some red paint on it and it’s pretty much the convertible version .
Really digging this show so far, I really like the character interactions and little details they put into it.
And while the CG is honestly bad for 2016, the fights are still quite good, they have lots of atual movement around in them that's pretty neat. A fresh breath of air from IBO's garbage fights. The fact that about all the mecha also have flat feet is refreshing as well, again, especially coming off of IBO's high-heeled madness.
Looking forward to the rest, interested to see where it goes, especially with Yukina's father's disappearance and the whole past section of the show they haven't fully explored yet.

Agreed, the GAUS are pretty simple looking. In some cases simpler means better, but it doesn't really work here. I'm hoping for a mid-season or so eventual GAUS upgrade - maybe even using salvaged parts from the Geoframes dispatched in this episode (if any are even left after that explosion) or from possible future ones - to breath some life into them.

Holy epic mecha battles. Some of the best mecha actions so far.
So the Kuromukuro's works similar to an Evangelion unit, where the pilot's nerves and senses are linked with the mech, explaining its human-like movement and reflexes, though the navigator doesn't seem to be affected since the useless moeblob genki girl remains unhurt.
Those two nosey classmates getting ridiculously closer and closer to the battlefield reminds me of that episode in Evangelion, where Shinji ended up nearly getting himself killed as a result of having to protect them.
So the "aliens" are humans from another planetary system. It could be they're like the "Martians" in Aldnoah Zero, where they come from a technologically-advanced but resource-poor planet, and every 400 years or some they've come to the more resource-rich Earth to harvest.
Perhaps the founder of the Washiba clan which Kennosuke served could actually be a renegade alien general who disagreed with how Earth was being exploited.

Almost skipped a beat with the sword got into their cockpit. Anyway pretty intense episode where all the mechs got their chance to shine and finally more information about the enemy is revealed.
Despite the appearance is still not 100% clear wheter they are humans, aliens of actual demons but the former seems likely since he called MC a traitor. And we know a decent amount of info about his past so far.

So, finally got a chance to see the last couple of episodes. MC is cool and I like seeing him get acclimated. It's not till you look at this and realize how much your own native language has changes as time passes. The rest of the pilots are okay, Sophie is a awesome pilot, she is a cool girl. I still find Yukina rather useless during the whole thing, Yukina is a pretty stupid little girl and her character has absolutely nothing whatever to do with the mecha genre, she is a moeblob in the wrong genre.
The action was great though our goverment rescue procedures are some what incompetent. "Go somewhere safe?" Well, that was incredibly vague. And I'm sorry, but still no, the world and the UN would NOT be this lax if there was a alien space craft in orbit and no, you could not hide it or stop it from "leaking".
But the most interesting thing is to see that these aliens are actually piloted by humanoid people who can speak Japanese. ARE they Japanese? And I'm guessing MC's old vehicle used to belong to them and they think whoever owned it is still alive in there and is a traitor? Or is MC actually an alien who was adopted into Japanese society and had amnesia?
This is going to be quite interesting. And who was just waiting and expecting that kid with the camera to die by the end? Did they run fast enough to get away from the blast? Ugh, the cliffhanger!
