There is not much difference between co-op and solo, the stages are the same and the goals are the same, the opponent suits just seem to have proportionally higher HP as your party number grows (max of 4). The only catch is that the LV of the drops is determined by the host's progress / difficulty of the stage he picked. There is also co-op Bounty Hunter and AFAIK it runs with the same mechanics.
IMO as soon as you manage a build that can kill stuff, just hop into an unlocked public room to see how co-op is.

When COMPARED to the PS4 version, it seems to be graphically dogshit, but that's just what you get when you compare a dedicated handheld to a console in terms of graphical abilities.

The button placement for this game is convoluted as fuck.
Basically, some weapon/parts have secondary fire. tapping and holding the fire button have different effect, this apply to all parts that have secondary attack

also to add, same goes with the jump and booster. I dont understand why they put analog+jump= dash instead of jump, and you have to lightly push the booster to jump otherwise you'll just dashing all over the place

Yeah, but its unintuitive, 90% of the time you'll ends up using the booster instead of jump. The perfect way to deal with booster is to double tap the jump button to use the booster because most of the time, peoples tend to push the button harder for jumping since 99% of games does that, so to lightly push the for jumping seems.. strange. Example for this is shooting mechanic, peoples tend to hold the R1 button rather than tap it lightly
