Kind of wish that perhaps they will make a anime sequel to Gridman, based on some of those segments from the Gridman short which showed animated scenes based on the live-action as well as seeing Gridman Sigma. Or perhaps even a reboot or sequel to the 1990's Seven Star Fighting God Guyferd

It's not gonna be related to GL at all since Trigger does not have the rights to it. Gainax is still holding onto that one along with Konami and making pachinko games.
>>
>>14171899

Gainax have the PSG rights too don't they? So it'll be a spiritual sequel to GL, but not an actual sequel. Which is just as well really, since the original doesn't need a sequel and has no place to really go with one.

>they just like making their animation look like shit for some reason

That's an easy one. The reason is so that they can use cheap looking animation as part of their style and aesthetic.

I think Trigger intentionally made shorts like Inferno Cop and Ninja Slayer to get people to understand that they can make something entertaining without flashy animation. At the same time, people start to think "silly cheap looking animation = Trigger being silly/awesome". That way, when they need to cut corners in higher budget shows, they can go really cheap on the animation, and people will think "lol Trigger being Trigger" and they can get away with it.

One example I can think of is a scene in Kill la Kill where Ryuko is floating down the water in the sewer (I think it's episode 3?). I think it's only like one or two frames of animation, but nobody cared because people thought the bad animation was an homage to Inferno Cop's bad animation.
>>
A Lord Genome prequel would be pretty cool then again we kind of got a sense of how he rose to power in the show. I'm curious to see if the Anti-Spirals warning about people abusing spiral power turned out correct though.

No matter how many people will try to defend this, it was bad, and not because of the fanservice. It was bad because the plot was trashy rather than flamboyant, the costume designs were boring and unimpressive despite being the focus, characters never developed or evolved significantly, the animation was painfully uneven rather than stylish and the ending episode was the worst of them all, with terrible pacing, plot and delivery.

By no means it's bad compared to every other show, and it has its good moments, but it never picks up to excellence, and actually falls apart near the end, with the last quarter of the show just dragging on without a really good reason for all the action.

Every time i see a Trigger show i weep for Gainax.

Kill la Kill's pacing, animation and plot were a complete fucking mess. How do people defend that shit.

TTGL was by no means perfect but its clear from the outset they have certain goalposts already written out. Going into space at the end, a rough idea of how Simon will look, Lord Genome etc.

And let's face it, the animation in Gurren Lagann at its worst is still pretty decent, at its best its phenomenal.

Compare it to KLK. They clearly have no idea what they want to do for most of the show. The plot meanders, goes back and forth, theres little plot development for large chunks of it. And its not as though the animation was outstanding during all of this. At times the animation in KLK was disgustingly bad. It was just still frames for entire episodes or poorly done CGI. By the end it was clear they had run their budget and what was left to make was a mess.

I don't even begin to comprehend how people can objectively think KLK is anywhere near on par with GL. Maybe you liked the characters in KLK more, fine. Maybe you liked the designs more, fine. Maybe you liked the music more, fine. But everything else was a fucking MESS. Shit animation, shit pacing, shit plot.

Do I want Trigger to be in charge of a spiritual successor to Gurren Lagann? Fuck no. Imaishi is great but Trigger has no budget and no one will give them money. A Gurren Lagann spiritual sequel should at least have good animation and have some overall direction. I suspect GAINAX was a big part of why GL succeeded apart from Nakashima and Imaishi.

Anything by trigger will just end up as a slideshow of pans over still pictures that have the same "plot" structure every episode. No thanks.

>>
>>14189695
You can ape elements like robot design and themes like evolution but the plot itself and the animation can't be aped.

I'm not disagreeing that GL is basically just a homage show with elements taken from other shows but that doesn't mean it did it poorly.

>>14189766
Episodes 1-15. Nothing actually happens. About 2 or 3 of these episodes are used to introduce characters but otherwise the plot is at the same point from episode 2 as it is in episode 16. Senketsu gets destroyed then brought back to life an episode later. Really bad animation in the later half.

Episode 16. Finally some plot from here on out till the end. Important plot elements are introduced and the world is explain a bit.

Episode 17. Satsuki switches sides, because. Zero foreshadowing to this and makes the previous 16 episodes a waste of time and is mostly confusing.

18-24. Actual plot. Terrible animation. Literally pans over stills for large parts of it.

There aren't a lot of great mecha shows post 90s unless you're willing to accept a lot of shitty animation and CGI. If GL wasn't so popular you'd love it. But you need your hobby to be niche so you criticize anything popular and praise anything obscure. I mean yea sometimes the popular thing is the least thoughful or the least well developed. But sometimes its popular because its good. This same sort of wannabe-niche thing happens in every kind of medium

>oh this painting thats just red with a yellow stripe in the middle is so much better than the Massacre of the Innocents.

>Vince Staples is so much better than Jay-Z. Jay-Z is for people who dont even know about rap

>French art house films are so much better than crap like the The Lord of the Rings. Movies shouldn't make sense they should confuse the audience so pretenious assholes like me can pretend to 'get it'

etc. /m/ likes to talk about more obscure shows like Shin Mazinger and Ideon as if they're so much better than anything popular like Gurren Lagann or Eureka Seven. But Shin Mazingers animation was a catastrophe by the end. Just watch the final episode. its a clip show. and Ideon (or anything by Tomino outside of a handful of shows) is a fucking mess. People on /m/ need it to be true because you guys spend all your time and lifes energy on it and the idea that someone could watch something popular like Gurren Lagann and have it be higher quality than some show you watched after being into mecha for 5000 hours, completely offends you. Its ridiculous. Get over it.

right and she destroyed Senketsu literally days before this happens because why? if Ryuuko could be an ally why destroy Ryuuko? and why spend so many episodes just harassing students that don't do anything later? It makes no sense.
>>
>>14190569
She tells Ryuuko to her face that she only wants strong allies, so she's venting them.

俺から見ればガイナックスが間違えて作った武者ガンダム、武者マジンガーaと間違えたんだろうがファフナーのほうがストーリーはしっかりしていた

>You can ape elements like robot design and themes like evolution but the plot itself and the animation can't be aped.
>tl;dr hasn't read Shin Getter Robo, a series that Nakashima was involved with as an editor
I actually like TTGL and Nakashima, I don't mean it as a disrespect but I'm also not going to deny TTGL's origins.

>but that doesn't mean it did it poorly.
I never said it did. TTGL is a stand out mecha series... until Imaishi ruined the story.
>>
>>14189634
At least it wasn't as bad as Ninja Slayer. That was a fucking disaster.

How about you get over yourself and your wildly moronic statements first? Also
>There aren't a lot of great mecha shows post 90s
Nice lies, oldfaggot.

What's even the source on this?

And KLK was baby's first sukeban. See how that works?

>Satsuki switches sides, because. Zero foreshadowing to this and makes the previous 16 episodes a waste of time and is mostly confusing.
Oh come on. While I do agree that KLK pales in comparison to TTGL, this point is not true at all. There were bit of scenes here and there in the early parts about how she wasn't happy with her mum being the ruler and all that shit.

And your opinion is legitimately wrong.

Imagine if Imaishi and Urobuchi collaborated on a mecha anime. 4chan wouldn't survive.

KLK was aping on stuff like Ace wo Nerae and the school delinquent genre. The Gainax folks have pretty much been remaking Gunbuster and their old otaku humor over and over for decades (save for Anno and his pals, which instead are remaking Eva over and over).

>Simon and Nia's child, grown up from an alternate dimension
>Said dimension came into existence because Simon resurrected Nia when she disappeared/died at the end
>Spiral power ran out of control
>Spiral Nemesis occurs

>Grownup Simon and Nia's child hunts across dimensions to wipe out any instance of Simon to prevent Spiral Nemesis from happening in other Dimensions

>Opening scene of TTGL is actually Simon's son going to fight against him.

And where can I read about this panel?

The difference, Pablo, is that Shin Mazinger shits on spics.

TTGL is libtard propaganda for 12 years old. Shin Mazinger is simply the cold hard truth.

TRUMP 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
