You don't fucking know shitposting, this shit's light. In general, there was Eternal September and all that, but a quick wiki look-up can explain that shit without a thought. In terms of Rider, I remember Agito getting some backlash because of multiple Riders. The idea killed the solitary element every Rider beforehand had gone through. Even Skyrider, who mainly cashed in on allying with previous Riders, had his time alone. From Agito on, we got this sense of "There's no longer just one Rider at a time now. It's gonna be groups." initially... it wasn't bad.
Then Ryuki appeared. They looked like Metal Heroes, they fought like Metal Heroes, I remember someone rather bluntly and aptly describing one of the Contract Monsters as "LIterally a fucking Changerion suit" and it sparked an argument that lasted eight hours. Shit was infuriating.
People also seem to really bitch about the toyetic nature of Rider, and while I can't disagree, I think what we've got now is fine. As someone who had to learn Japanese for work reasons anyway, I did watch pretty much anything I could, including Rider. Shit like Ghost is... honestly not that bad. It's not good, I have way too many issues with it, but it's not this mess people describe it as. I could list all day and night some tokusatsu that DESERVE vitriol and their directors who need a visit from Redman, but there's no need.
And since I know it'll arise: Amazons is very fun, it's the midnight show Kamen Rider people wanted since Garo. Is it the best? Eh, I'd have to leave that to my personal favorite (Which I'll keep private to avoid flaming) but it's definitely got a lot of strong points holding it up right now. Give it until the end, and I'll have a more thorough opinion.

Tomica Hero's got such a fucking toy issue. I love the mecha designs and anything with Fujioka's got a special place in my heart, but I just couldn't enjoy it.
And Ultraman's acting isn't BAD. I'd say on average they're pretty good, because they try and look for more appealing talent. I'm actually pleased with their actor's choice for Orb, Kai was pretty much pointless in Den-O but he delivered his shit well, and experience is pretty goddamn valuable for these kinds of shows.
I think that's what Rider's been needing for a while though. Seasoned actors in more valuable positions. I think that's why Amazons is fun, one of the protagonists is a seasoned actor, he's fucking GoBlue.

My biggest rule with toyeticness is the Changerion Rule:
The amount of punches should be within a ratio of 1:1 with toy usage, within a margin of one. If you throw a few actual punches, before activating your belt or whatever for a finisher, that's fine. If you use your big sword to bash a monster a few times after an actual throwdown brawl, that's also fine. If you punch a monster once before proceeding to use nothing but your gimmick toys, you are a fucking mess and you deserve a visit from Redman, preferably in a dark alley.
Use that from here on in order to help decide whether or not a lot of toys is a good thing.

In it, the titular CHangerion lands ONE punch on the monster. ONE. After that, it's his stupid arm cannon, and his bike, and his turret before that awful CGI attack.

Guys, what would it be like if Amazons and Ghost switched places, where Ghost was the edgier internet hour-long show while Amazons was lighter and part of Super Hero Time?
Just finished my marathon of Wizard. It doesn't go anywhere, the villains got bullshit deaths and I had to fast-forward the obnoxious Koyomi shit once they kicked it into overdrive in the last part, but otherwise it wasn't as horrible as I was expecting. Still not my fave show by a long shot, but the fights were damn entertaining, there were a few good laughs and Haruto was fun the few times they remembered to give him a personality. Also, best secondary.
Is Kiva similarly "not awful just boring" or is it seriously bad? I've been saving those two for last on my watchlist because of their reputations, but I don't know how much of that is the general reception or just memeing to trigger their apparently pants-shitting fans.fwiw, considering we're talking about krg's fave topics at the moment, I think Ghost has awful pacing and I dropped it for a few weeks out of boredom, but I picked it up again and it's gotten a bit more interesting, I'm looking forward to how the story unravels from here.

Kiva's first half is just okay, the second half goes into absolutely idiotic territory with almost every character and makes you hate them with condensed drama seeping from your media player. It also doesn't explain a lot of things like Castle Doran, any of Jirou's buddies, who Shizuka is, why Kivat is with Wataru in the first place, what in the hell Sagarc is, and so on. The ending is also terrible.

Kiva is kind of slow at times, but during other moments there's a lot of plot progression, everything is just kind of stupid and even inconsistent though, making Faiz's developments look natural.
Ghost has a plot that runs fairly constantly after the first 11 or so episodes, a lot of people here just don't like the main Rider and his actor.
