I don't like the idea of focusing on Amuro piloting a Zeta. It's cool but Zeta is kind of Kamille's thing and it feels weird to make a story where Amuro pilots one exclusively. I know it already exists in a bit of side material but if I'm going to watch Karaba then I want Amuro in several different prototypes. Or hey, no need to make it all about Amuro.

Zeta is all about reversals and ironies. The Federation is the bad guy. The Gundam is black. Titans use Zeon-like MS. Char is a good guy. Amuro pilots a Gelgoog and Char pilots a Gundam. And so on and so forth.

The Gundam is black for like two episodes, and then it's back to normal for the rest of the show. And ZZ.
The Federation isn't really the bad guys either. It'd have been more interesting if they were. Instead the show squirmed out by having a Federation sub-group be space Nazis so the Feds could be clean of blame and they could help out.
The ZZ we were going to get originally as Zeta Part II would have tackled that to a large degree. We didn't get that though, so it's just kind if disappointing.

I always find it funny with comments like this and Katz asking Amuro if he has a Gundam under his house and people wondering how GSD ended up the way it did.
The meta-reason? It's Camille's story and him being supported by the antagonist of the last story is enough.
The story reason? There was never a moment in time for Amuro to specifically ask to pilot the Gundam MK. II because they were busy trying to get back into space, and Amuro wasn't ready to go to space. By the time he reappears, it's been several months, and they're not going to tell Emma to get out of the Gundam so they can send it down to Amuro while they're consistently fighting the Titan's newer models
Amuro doesn't NEED a Gundam, he just needs a decentish mobile suit so he can fight.
Besides that, I'm pretty sure he said that he didn't want to pilot it in the first place.

Dijeh is not only mechanically a good suit, its also very very cool.
I was surprised too when I saw it: lumpy design, wings, doesn't fly on its own.
Then I took another look and realized:
Its a Valkyrie. The dijeh, stylistically, is a Valkyrie. Its straight out of Norse myth and the 18-1900 romantic era that was inspired by it. The dijeh is the mighty warrior suit that rides out of the sky on its chariot and wins battles for Karaba.
The Valkyries in myth are closely associated with disir spirits as well. Disir = Dijeh?

Why do you guys think Amuro being relevant would make Zeta into SEED Destiny? The point was that even after seven years without piloting he didn't need an overpowered suit to win. Honestly I would have welcomed more Karaba episodes since the Argama crew really got on my nerves sometimes.

The Zeta pretty much completely represents what Kamille is; an edgy, bipolar teenager eager to get into fights. In the same vein, the Mark II really does seem like it was meant for Emma instead of Kamille or Amuro.
The Dijeh lacks the menace of the original Gelgoog or the Galbady. It ends up just looking awkward, especially the torso and fin wings.
