Yeah, but it's subtle and doesn't wash out other sounds. You can barely hear Alpha's over the background music during the two scenes he's transformed so far and you can easily mistake Omega's for the soundtrack itself. It's not like they're shouting corny rhymes or singing.

A good few of the belts since Agito haven't had any jingles or singing. Like Kabuto for instance. Agito itself didn't either, so I've no idea why you're saying since then. Also, Heisei has always been toyetic. It started with Kuuga, and has gotten worse over time. Agito didn't start that. Kuuga had more forms, more weapons and more toys than Agito himself, which split those things between multiple characters. The show still still had lots of forms, weapons and potential toys though.

Just started Blade and damn I'm missing Drive already. Why did we have to have nonstop shaky camera crap like we don't know what a track and dolly is? Why that shitty J-drama camera focus that makes it look like a Hallmark or Lifetime special? I realize there's probably going to be less "eeeeeeeeeeh!?" and wacky sound effect reactions for it, but when your whole cast is an average looking and dressing and acting man of the same description I actually cannot tell the characters apart. I guess I benefit from child-pandering character design and casting in that regard. Agito had basically the same problems, is this stuff fixed by Kabuto? Because I'm looking forward to Kabuto.

Because at the time, Rider was shooting hard for the J-drama angle. Gimmicks and world setting subdued, characters generally older. It's basically Toei misinterpreting Kuuga-Agito success, and it won't be until Den-O/Decade wombo-combo that it goes to the modern format.

That's not fair to either. Hobbit was filmed in 48, the double of a normal movie framerate, while Riders until Kabuto were filmed in 60 fields, so there's 60 half-frames. Interpolating it into 60 full frames will give you more motion at the cost of general picture clarity, but it's not like it's 30fps originally.

Yeah, Kabuto starts giving big signature characteristics to each Rider's style, like their designs had come out of a manga.
Making most Riders look very "standard" was probably one of the early Heisei's attempts to distance themselves from Showa, since the Showa Riders (aside from maybe Skyrider-ZX and the 90s movie ones) had signature dress styles, some of them designed by Ishinomori himself. Although they generally returned with more generic outfits in returning appearances.

Early video cameras had a very narrow dynamic range. That means dark areas will show up as black, and bright areas will be completely blown out. Film cameras have a wider range, but film is much more expensive to work with. The only cheap way around the problem is to make the lighting as flat as possible, which is what creates the signature "soap opera effect".
Modern Rider shows are shot on cameras with much better dynamic range, which means they can get away with more natural lighting.

I finally bothered to watch the Kabuto movie, decent for a KR movie I suppose. Something bothered me about it though.
I know that during Kabuto's production, a bunch of the actors/actresses couldn't be on-set for various reasons, which was why so many characters just disappeared for ages within the story. Hiyori's actress in particular was sick for most of production (dunno if that's why she quit acting altogether right after Kabuto or if it was some other reason)
with that in mind, the role they gave her in the movie feels like it was in really bad taste. All she does in the movie is show up and then die of illness. Did no one find that weird?

Drive had 3 or 4 three-parters depending on how you count (if you don't then it had 2 three-parters with 2 done-in-ones).
Either way it attempted to mix things up.
The only reason to hate 2-parters however is that they're forced to make the monster escape or otherwise be saved at the end of the first part, and Drive did that without any shame.
