Goldstorm had its moments, but I'd rate it as being as flawed as Makai no Hana.
Both series didn't know how to handle character development, or progression.
Makai no Hana had more really friggin awesome standalone episodes and ideas.
Goldstorm had Decade and some really badass action scenes.
Both series were let down by the characters being completely uninteresting or wasted potential, and dull plots, especially Makai no Hana.

First episode of Retsuden was a ghost story played straight for the most part but I liked it, its great to see Rekka in a lead role and the undead Makai Knights made a nice change from the usual standard horrors. Only thing I didn't like wasthe incredibly obvious twist regarding the old Priest

Crow was a pretty sick Knight, it'd be nice to see him again. One thing I like about Garo is how the vast majority of secondary heroes are on par or close to the lead, instead of just being there to job.

I actually liked Goldstorn. Ryuga and Rian might of had the personality of plank of wood, but I would be lying if it didn't look good, especially episode 18. Also Zynga is a enjoyable villian.

It's OK but if you watch it coming off of Makai Senki you're not going to like it because Makai Senki hit a peak that the franchise has struggled to get back to ever since. They use way too much obvious CG which is extremely jarring if you're watching the series in chronological order and are used to physical fight scenes.
It's unfortunate but probably the most interesting thing about Yamitera were the minor antagonists. I was honestly rooting for the crazy news anchor lady most of the time, and Enhou/Sonshi were far more interesting characters than most of the main cast.

For me it felt like Garo because it had;

Garo is about trenchcoats and murderous demons. It's at its best when it's riding the 90s vampire wave.
The plot also tied in nicely with the standalone episodes. Really the only reason to dislike it is the lack of physical suits.

I don't know where the hate train for MnH is coming from. It's not near the level of the Kouga series (and not as good as HnK) but it's definitely the best non-Kouga live action series. The plot is weak but no weaker than Goldstorm. The in-suit fights are the greatest ever done. The stand alone episodes which, outside of Makai Senki, have always been the bread and butter of the franchise, are the best we've ever gotten. It brought back the horror feeling that seems to be forsaken most of the time now. I loved it.
Maybe it just works better watching it all at once rather than waiting week to week.

I hated Yamitera when I first watched it because if felt like it had thrown away most of what I liked about Garo, so watching Hana afterwards felt really good. I've softened on Yamitera over time, but I still think that Hana is a much more solid show if only because it focuses on what Garo does best. My issues with Hana are a lot smaller than my issues with Yamitera.

to answer its because their crap for a bunch of reasons
first off their just not good translations, they leave words untranslated all the time "to preserve the intention" or some crap and that not what translating is, they are way to literal so lines come off really stilted, a lot of the time they just mistranslated as well, there are several series they do where they have mangled plot points due to mistranslations.
thats on top of annoying obfuscating fonts and TERRIBLE video encoding because of the terrible fonts and hard coding because they dont want people to steal their terrible translations
short answer is, its because their over all bad and there are much better options

To say it again, the thing with TVN isn't just that their translations are stilted and quirky, it's that they can't actually translate, and they aren't able to tell when they aren't understanding a line. This example makes absolutely no sense in the context they put it, but instead of maybe thinking about it and letting someone else who speaks Japanese take a look at it, they just put it in anyway. Same with the "Banana New Shoe" incident.
Combine it with all the other things, how fucking hateful they are towards their critics, and how much they suck, you'd best stay away from them as much as possible.

Even GomenRider's version was working with a flawed encode. I don't have GR's (or TVN's) on my computer anymore, but someone compared them with Over-Time's version and GR's had issues like the band of light reflecting from Kouga's scabbard turning all jagged when it should be straight, and Kouga's hair looking kind of blobby.
Unfortunately Over-Time haven't done 2005 Garo past episode 9, so about two-thirds of the show still doesn't have a decent version available.

From what I can tell it's at least true with Garo Sho for Ryuga. Haven't heard of any significance to smaller differences like Raiga having a different undersuit than the other Saejimas or the armor's proportions changing between the original series and Makai Senki.

Garo On appeared for maybe 5 minutes at most and has its own suit. If they went as far as making an episode around Sonshi or Zynga, they'd probably make a suit for their armour

I agree with you, but on the other hand it wouldn't be the first time. The knight that appeared in Kiba Gaiden was used just for that (though they used a repaint for Baron, I don't know if it was the same actual armor), the knight at the end of Makai no hana was also very momentary.
And let's not forget that most of the MOTW have also a physical suit, and some of them are as awesome as a knight armor.

Retsuden means Anthology, it's an anthology show of various stories set in the Garo universe, with different protagonists.
I dropped off Garou after finishing Goldstorm Sho since the Garo anime doesn't interest me, but I never got around to watching the GS movie, how was it? I take it that Masahiro Inoue's character isn't in it but is the qt tiny makai priest chick in it atleast?

Movie Ryuga is top tier, and Agou is also a great villain, probably my favourite of the movie villains. I'm probably the only person who liked TV Ryume more than movie Ryume but she is great in both. I do like the trickster aspects she has in the movie

Gold Storm was also released way before the actual movie, the teaser actually showed Ryuga from Yami and the movie didn't even have name, so I think the same is happening with Raiga's movie. They announced it just to say "hey, we are doing this" but the development would probably be in its earliest stage.
