The save files (".src") are in plain text - just look for the chunk where the pilot numbers is stored (search for their names and their level and if their current EXP should be nearby, it's probably the right chunk) and just change them.

I don't think people tend to be happy when games crash taking away 30 minutes of progress, especially since Demonbane is one of the more niche parts of the series list so your average player will probably not get the reference.

I just want them to change some of the ancient OGs sprites. Not a redraw, just a straight up new sprite for units that desperately need or at least significant choreography changes in some units.

1's ok, but it's very, very Winkysoft, so if you hate Winkysoft you're not going to like it.
Compact Color is Compact 1 except more difficult, also it "gives" you support and makes you unable to do anything with it so you'll be unable to stop things from supporting.
I haven't tried Compact 2, but I've heard it has even more fucking Einst than Impact and that it has a bizarre way of being difficult (ENTIRE TEAM IS FORCE DEPLOYS), and you need to beat it in a turn limit across three games to get the true final stages.
C3 is fun in that you can make a one man solo army and ignore all the glaring design flaws, much like K. Unlike K, your main OG is a Shura and is great instead of Mist fucking Rex, so maybe a point in its favor. Trying to play it like normal is an exercise in "I NEVER HAVE ENOUGH PP TO DO ANYTHING" though. (Before you say "well at least there's NG+", oh you sweet summer child.)

Define "soon". It's hard to justify redrawing a bunch of sprites for robots most people aren't going to bother with for one game. (unless we end up with Xeno's Alpha 3 where we get closer and can never reach it)

All the sprites have been redrawn, it's the choreography and possibly poses that need changing. SRX, Cybuster, Alteisen, RKO and Dygenguar are the only units that got total choreography revamps, I would guess a few more will get overhauls here where they've had time to get them done.

Thought: What if they give us the AR-1 in MD? The R-1 has traditionally had the least problems among the SRX units and gets rolled out first, and it gets the most variations. It would make sense for them to concentrate on getting the AR-1 out over the AR-2 and 3, and it would make a nice "hey, Banpreios is coming soon" bit from Banpresto.

I'm hoping we get the whole AR series a bit early. But they can't combine yet, because AR-2 hasn't gotten the Tronium from R2P, and because the combination stuff isn't quite ready yet - so for Ryusei, Rai, and Aya (we're assuming AR-3 isn't made two pilot until Alpha 3 plot in this case) you have the choice between three pretty damn good units, and one really overpowered as shit unit.
Then, of course, SRX gets three of its limbs hacked off and most of the R3 portion destroyed so you have to switch anyway, but that's Alpha 3 stuff.

I remember someone mentioning MP Combattler V the other day. I watched that episode yesterday, but yeah, it was just a shell. Does the unit share its actual attacks in that SRW game?

If they have the AR-2 working there's no reason to not just grab the Tronium out of the regular R-2 and use that. It would be kind of odd to finally make the stable version that doesn't need to have a genius babysit the engine constantly and not switch everyone over when they can.
Besides, Rai and Aya consistently get fucked over on upgrades, so I'm not expecting the streak to be broken here.
Would be nice, though. Especially if they give us AR-Formation balanced to not be the worst combo attack in the game.

Permanent, as in most modern SRWs that use Skill Parts (all the post J ones I think? Except maybe XO, since GC's were like J. I know W, AP, K, L, UX, and BX were permanent.). That said, on NG+ you get the option to unequip all of them and reapply them, which might be useful.
The Partner System becomes a thing you can get in the late single digits, MAYBE early double digits? I think there's a stage before it you can access it that your units come partnered up. Then the Tactician System comes a few stages later, at like 14 or so when you arrive in Arst the first time. Your first stage autosets the tactician is Knight Alex, probably a minor reference to UX making the first tactician the only one you'd ever need outside of secrets.

Aura Battlers are fucking tiny, though with that said Dunbine's not actually in that pic (IIRC it's slightly smaller than Sirbine and Bilbine).
I seem to remember that Hyperization makes the pilots larger than normal Aura Battlers, so that's a thing.
