[EG] Victory Gundam - Complete Batch
http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=800584
It's been fun, right? Amidst years of pontifications shitposting (usually at the same time), many of you have shown appreciation for something that started as a hobby, and quite honestly, an unsurprising escape for an autist like the rest of you. That meant a lot, and will probably always mean a lot, as after 10 years - a significant part of my life - it becomes harder and harder to cut myself off from this unorthodox creature comfort. I'm tired, disinterested, and yearning to do other things, but old habits die hard as Peter Cullen would probably say, and it has, for some time now, become necessary for me to cut myself off this for my own good. It *is* what I want, but do know that it's not an easy farewell. Believe me, I didn't want to make a grandiose speech about this, but you guys listen and participate, which is a lot more than 95% of the boards on 4chan can say.
Enjoy the release, guys, you deserve it.
Thank you for everything
Even if I disagreed with some of your decisions (replacing original OP audio with CD quality audio) you are still the best!
rip in peepee
Thanks RX, will miss you buddy

You said you would still lurk occasionally, right? Even if you quit encoding for us, it'll be fine as long as you're still around somewhere.
>he did it for free, the absolute madman
Thanks for all of your hard work.
See you Space Cowboy
Ending with Victory, huh? Bittersweet like the ending of the show.
Thanks for all of your work, RX782. You were always my go-to option, you and your releases will be missed.
>>14091807
>Farewell
;_;7
Thanks for everything RX
Thanks for everything man
>That realization when RX782 will never return to do the G/X/0080 Blurays whenever they come out so that we have every pre-2000 Gundam done by one dude

>>14091920
I considered it a year ago, but not anymore. Like I said, I need to cut myself off. Any temptation to go back is just going to halter my growth as a person.
>>14091936
Fuck, well thanks for all your hard work, your Wing Release was transcendent and gave me a real nostalgia trip, I'm grateful for that.
>>14091807

H-hey guys.. since theres a RX thread right now can someone maybe seed the Wing NC openings?
Please?
Thanks for everything. Hope you'll stick around as an anon at least.
>>14092038
If no one responds by the time I get home (~1 hour) I'll upload it somewhere.
>>14091807
Thanks again for your hard work RX
RX is gone, he's dead.
But his BDs are right here in my hard drive, and right here in my heart.
He lives on as a part of me.
>>14092093
Thank you!!
rip in pepperonis, RX. You were the best help out there to get me into Gundam.
>Sudden realisation OZC will be the only source left for Gundam BDs
Oh god no

You were a Heero we always needed but never deserved.

Is there an archive where I can get all of your torrents?
You have the best rips around and finding them has proven to be quite difficult when I wasn't around the catch the threads.
See you for 0080

To /m/, and to RX
>>14091807
Thank you so much for all your hard work over the years.
You have contributed to our community more than probably any other tripfag or anon that wasn't directly involved with running the site in some capacity.
I'm sad that you won't take any more projects on, but I'm happy that we'll have your existing projects forever.
>>14091807
Thanks to you man. You will always be remembered in this little world of ours for your fantastic work. Your releases are always a sign of quality.
>>14091807
Well, time to stand up for da victory and finally watch victory
The end of an era, thanks for all the hard work you gave all these years. Your releases went above and beyond and introduced all these shows in such a good light to me and many others. Especially Gundam, if it wasn't for your releases I would've only seen 0079 from the Toonami days.
>>14091807
Bon Voyage you magnificent bastard
May you find your place in the halls of Valhalla
Take a well-deserved retirement and happy trails. I simply hope that your successor/replacement will be as close to as good as you.
>>14091807
Thank you for your amazing work which has boosted the quality of the content which we enjoy. I'll remember your efforts every time I bring up one of the shows you've so lovingly encoded.
>>14091807
>>14091807
Godspeed old friend. You will be dearly missed. Thank you for all you've given us over the years.
I guess you're NOT stuck here forever, then. Farewell, RX and good luck with your future career.

I'm really new on the gundam series, so maybe i'm not attached to your work like the majority of the anon here on /m/ , but i will miss you a lot anyway.
Thanks Rx , thank you from the bottom of my hearth.
You'll come back whenever the G Gundam BD Box comes out, right?
Then who's gonna finish the Ideon BDs?
>>14092865
He already encoded it, we are just waiting universal quantifier to translate it.

Full translation for 2019/2020.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words.
>>14092891Them CRCs though
>>14092891
This is definitely a bittersweet moment.
I wish you success in your endeavors.
Thank you for the work that you've done.
>>14091807
Thanks for your efforts, RX. You will be missed.
I never truly realized how great RX782 was until I tried to download an HD version of Heavy Metal.
Anime fans were blessed to have a pirate as great as him.
>>14092891
If you were here, I'd suck your dick. But I'm not gay and you're not here. So my thanks will have to be enough for now.
Thanks, RX. You were the coolest. rip in rip ;_;7

>>14092891

Thank you for the /m/usic, RX.
Safe travels now.
>>14091807
rip and thanks for everything
Thank you for your hard work, man.
>>14091807
What can I say that has not been said before? Thanks for everything. Your love for both Gundam and Video shows in your work. I wish you the best in that new path you're about to walk. A couple years from now I'm gonna rewatch one of your releases and think "Damn, these still hold up great. That RX guy sure had us spoiled!"
>>14091807
Thanks for fucking everything man.
I bought a 4tb drive exclusively for your stuff and it's damn near full now.
>>14092844
He said he wouldn't, and he never really wanted to actually do Victory, he just did it because he said he would and already started it.
He's said it before a lot of times, he wants to move on and leave the anime business behind him
Only got into /m/ stuff recently, I just realized all my gundam stuff is by EG. Didn't even see you posting and I still miss you.
>>14092144
A bit late to this, but how bad are they?
I'd pour one out but I'd hate to waste booze like that, so here goes the last of my bottle of Jim Beam to you RX.
I give him a month
>>14093478
If he comes back that's nice, and I know he's done false retirements before, but this might really be it. I hope someone else steps up to the plate and does the piracy that /m/ needs.
>>14093424
-If the show was released in the US, the OP and ED have huge distracting hard letters with the english credits.
-Most of the time video quality is a direct rip from the source with no enhancements or corrections except for those times the guy likes to remove the grain resulting in a shittier image.
-Subs are hit or miss, styled subs and goddamn karaoke.
Godspeed, RX
>>14092144
not too bad since most of the older Gundam works have been released by EG already. OZC is ok with the digital stuff we get now.
If/when 0080, G, or X get BDs then we might have a problem.
I wish this batch had the commentaries like Turn-A. Anyone know any raw downloads that have them? Nyaa raws don't.
>>14091807
Thanks for everything you are the ideal true /m/an.
>>14091813
I think that's nice, if the audio is rough and a better version exists, do it.
>>14093490
I know that I've certainly given people a reason to doubt me, but I'm absolute in this decision. The closest I'm ever coming back is suggestions in threads that pop up when people need help encoding, but you won't see another EG release.
>>14093495
>styled subs and goddamn karaoke.
tbf EG does this too
Bummed that we won't get 0080 to clear out the Universal Century stuff.
However, thanks for a great run and it has been one hell of a blast. Thanks for all your hard work.
Thanks for everything, man.
Thank you for all the years of work! We'll miss you!
>>14093653
Well that's comforting.
When we get those 0080, G and X BDs I'm sure somebody around here is going to want to continue in your vein and they'll probably need some help.
>>14091807
Shaka, when the walls fell.
See ya RX. Don't forget to shitpost here every now and then.
>>14093996
>I'm sure somebody around here is going to want to continue in your vein
Yeah, just like somebody was obviously going to simply retime and put on the subs for the Zeta V2s.
It's been 4 months.
>>14094273
someone was working on it, but I think his harddrive exploded
>>14094287
Shame about the SSJ subninjas getting to him, then. He had SDF Macross and Dragon Ball on his plate too.
>>14091807
Go beyond the time, to a place that's yours and mine.
I'm a little late to the party and there's been some people who already said this but whatever.
Thanks for everything and may you have luck in whatever you do in your future. I doubt you will ever come back to us (since you yourself said that) but if you ever do just know that you'll always be welcome here.
Thanks, RX!
We'll miss you, but good luck on your journey.
Shit this makes me very sad right now. I know these are the most emotional moments in life, saying goodbye and looking forward to a new promising future. Godspeed!
Thank you for everything! You deserve a bright future!
>>14091807
Thanks RX much farewell
>>14091807
Thank you for all that you've done. It was nice to have a ton of my favorite shows handled by someone with good technical know-how who respects the medium.
Now if we could get rid of the trips that don't actually do anything.
>>14091807
So long EG
I'm gonna miss you
Hopefully someday someone will be able to fill your shoes
We should petition to get his stuff put in a forever Sticky
>>14091807
You are and always will be a /m/an among /m/en RX. Thank you.
>>14091807
Fuuuck, you're leaving? Damn...well, I'm sorry to see you go, but I also know it's important to do what's best for you. Thanks for everything, brother, and I wish you luck wherever life takes you after this.

Our posts and images are so similar it's kinda scary.
Are you me?
You're a great person and you've done an invaluable service for us all over the years, more than anyone else has done for our small community and probably more than we deserved.
Thank you sincerely for all your hard work.
Good luck with whatever you do next and godspeed you magnificent bastard.
Mods, sticky this shit
>everything I want has no seeders
>>14095229
if nyaa fails
bakabt has [EG] torrents with plenty of seeds.
Dunno if you're reading this, but even if I personally never encoded a single thing, I truly understand where you're coming from when you say you need to grow as a person and in order to do that you must get away from stuff you enjoy doing.
Anyways like others said I really appreciate your hard work, good mecha anime has been kinda dying slowly so it was a blessing that someone like you was interested in being an important factor to keep old series available to us and newcomers.
Good luck with your life.
>>14091807
Don't forget about us, dude. We won't.
>>14095229
Well, what do you want?

T-thanks RX. You were always my favorite. If you had something, yours was the one I downloaded, and that will always be true. Thanks for taking care of this one last one for us. I'm thankful for your time, and I'm glad that you finally feel able to free yourself from what I'm sure was a labor of love. Take it easy, guy. You're a good one.
>>14091807
Thanks for all the entertainment you brought us man. I really do appreciate all the work you put into everything you did.
Thank you RX. Best wishes.

This leave still feels so sudden, despite knowing it would happen eventually.
Honestly, you've done way more than we've ever deserved and I really appreciate everything. Watching your releases always made my day and only gave me more love for Gundam and anime in general.
Best of luck and godspeed.
>>14091807

You really were the best. I doubt anyone will ever come close again.

>>14091807
You can't go, you're the best chinese toy commercial enconder I've ever seen.
It's your God given duty to do this.
>>14096746
To be fair, I kind of rushed this all out in about a week after taking months.
>>14092941
I love this.
>>14093687
I don't think I've ever done a legit moving karaoke before. The closest I've come is just having colors change to match a crossfade in the animation. I do style my subs of course, but what subber doesn't?
>>14094287
Wasn't depression involved?
>>14095653
No, but I'd help someone out here if they posted about it. I'd even go as far as taking a look at the video to script a filter chain (I still love that kind of problem solving, and perfecting a filter chain is awesome... it's doing it for 50 episodes and getting subs up to speed that I hate).
>>14097776
What I'm gathering from the archive regarding the Zeta V2 is that Clutchins dropped out due to recurring depression, then another person picked up the project in early February and shortly thereafter went on an indefinite hiatus after his mother confiscated his electronics and kicked him out of the house.
>>14097776
For future reference, where were getting your ISOs/BDMVs?
>>14097885
ADC, some guys from irc...
Thanks for all your contributions to /m/, RX. Good luck in anything you pursue now, but remember that you did a great service for a ton of people over the years.

>>14091807
Thank you, I'll be seeing you when G Gundam gets a BD.
>>14098712

I've been watching [EG] subs for nearly 7 years now. It's been a real trip, and I'm really sad to see you go.

>>14091807
Thanks for everything you glorious bastard
>>14097776
Totally understandable, and again, thanks!
I may not have the memory to download all your stuff
But from yesterday, to the day before, to the many years you've committed to the cause
The hard work and dedication that one man could have to commit through the hardships of life
To the unyielding loyalty and resolve to do what you've done. To bring Gundam and then some to the eyes of the many
To have such dexterity, the years upon years of committed energy put into this media
For everything in which you've done
That has my respect
I may have barely knew you. But, I feel as if I've known you forever
Even beyond the time, you will always be remembered
Thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you
>>14091807
Thank you for your work. May you use the same concentration to these encoding in whatever you seek to pursue.
>>14101994
Young Amuro looks really goofy outside of 0079
Not going to lie, kind of bummed you're going out on such a bittersweet and rather depressing series. Still, great work over the years. Been awhile since I watched a lot the UC stuff, so I think it's time for a good old fashioned marathon.
Bumping to say that you truly are a winner forever.
>>14091807
I have been recently watching most of the gundam series, and I've downloaded a lot of your releases. I'm a little sad that you're done but you did well. Just wanted say thanks my dude.

>>14112002
If you didn't have autism why are you on /m/ sperging about video quality?
>>14095116
>more than anyone else has done for our small community
That's a pretty shitty remark given how many dedicated subbers we've had over the years
>>14112008
When did I say anything about video quality?
>>14091807
Thanks for everything.
RX this might be a dumb question, but do you have any interest in non-/m/ anime? I don't mean as encoding fodder, I mean just for enjoyment.
>>14111928
It's possible that as newer codecs come out, the compression will get better while retaining quality. In theory this would mean that HDD's are getting bigger while anime is getting smaller, meaning as time goes on the smount of anime that can be stores on an HDD exponentially increases. We won't find that solution in x265 but I'm praying that Daala will save us from this MPEG-LA Hell.
>>14112019
It's been years since I've followed anything non-/m/ closely. I fell out of watching most anime around maybe 2008, and maybe watch one or two shows a year now at most.
>>14112233
Since you're here I'll quickly ask;
Is the echo in the audio track a result of the BD production process?
It's not noticeable at all except for at the very end of each episode when Shakti says "Mite kudasai!", but it was pretty clear in episode 48 around the 14:47 mark, and episode 49 between 15:07 - 15:10. If you can't hear it, just turn the volume up a bit.
>>14112251
I'm not at my computer to listen, but if it's not "obvious" echo, then it's probably the result of a less than ideal recording environment.
Farewell.
My toaster can never play your releases, but your shit will always be appreciated.
Thanks for all the hard work over the years. Hope to see you work on something again in the future.
>>14111952
dunno. just searched "gundam Victory motorcycle" or something. it's gotta be the goofiest thing in UC (it's not a metaphor -- multiple people see it), but this part was so reverent and heartfelt it was just funny.

>>14117187
We don't have mods.
Every time I rewatch MSG I get a smile on my face knowing I helped you even an insignificantly tiny bit by finding that higher quality audio of the opening.
Thank you for everything RX, your encodes were and will probably always be the best. Good luck in your future endeavors.

NAKAMA ASHITERU
Thanks for everything. If it wasn't so damn solid work I wouldn't have downloaded 0083 seven times (or however many it ended up being) and compulsively grabbed anything else you put out. Best of luck with whatever you move on to.
Hey, since this is like a "[EG] general" I'm gonna ask, anyone has a link to the official Turn A Gundam subs for use with the [EG] release? And are they worth it?

>Hehe.
I swear to god RX.
Quick question RX, before you fade from existence for good
I know how to use AviSynth, but when should I use it? What calls for it? What is its primary purpose?
And how do I deinterlace stuff, is AVS used for that?
Anyway, thanks for all the hard work over this long time. Just know you've inspired other people to try to be cool like you (even if they have no idea how). You're a good guy.

Hasta la vista, RX782. I hardly knew you.

>have 12 TB
>but only two hard drives
Always wanted to download your releases but I live in a place where the best internet is too shit to do so. Still, liked seeing your threads, they were pretty chill and comfy and I liked lurking in them even if I wasn't really able to partake myself.
Anyway Godspeed and all that.

Some are using SATA, but yeah. The fact that at least two of the drives appear to be made by Maxtor means that this is 10 years old at the most recent.

You generally don't *need* to use it with modern sources, but let's say you want to reduce the noise in an image (sometimes legitimately necessary), or correct some kind of weird artifact like occasional interlace combing. AVISynth has plenty of filters to handle this, and there are some brilliant scripters at Doom9 who make all sorts of crazy functions for it. 99% of the time, for most people, it's not necessary.
AVS can be used to deinterlace, yes, and it provides finer control over the process as you have several filters to do it.

This image is literally from around that time.

Oh please, don't take it as some cryptic hint that I am a famous person. I consider myself successful in what I do, but by no means am I some kind of VIP.Though I happen to be in Vegas right now on a business trip.
Thank you.
Whose thread I'm gonna shitpost about audio quality and film reels now?
Since I have to geek out, I'm here to let you guys know that HDR is the future. I'm looking at a 15'-20' screen right now that's showcasing HDR footage, and I'm having a legit encodergasm.
I'm just curious, is h.265 the future of encoding?

>tfw modern anime will never shine colored lights through cels or tinted gel ever again
Just setting the computer in your image editor to "REALLY BRIGHT GREEN" just isn't the same.not that there's consumer LCD monitors with the colorspace for that to begin with

I've used AviSynth to edit some of my Japanese concert recording BDs. Some of the mistakes I've seen are just stupid. I have one where the video is marked as interlaced, but the source is actually progressive, until I saw that the ending credits had interlaced text on top of progressive video. AviSynth could do something like allow me to deinterlace just this specific part of the video, but since I was only encoding for myself and not releasing it, I didn't bother.
Also for the matter, AviSynth has the best deinterlacing filters that I've found, if you really care about deinterlacing quality.

So out of curiosity, what do you edit in your professional work? Are you in anime as a job as well as a hobby, or do you work on documentaries or other sorts of things when you're on the clock?
>>14091807
You can come and shitpost with us any time, okay?
