I've read all of what's been TLd for the manga, and I'm enjoying it. It's good if you don't mind MC suffering, and as for it being generic, it doesn't really feel like it. The whole "MC inserted into fantasy world for no reason" aspect stops being relevant after the first few interactions, and even then it's barely relevant.
I highly recommend the first episode, which is a double episode, and adapted the manga pretty well so far.

Finished watching season 1 for the first time today with a friend. Thought it was fun. Fight scenes were over the top and awesome, music was great, characters were pretty interesting and fun. But a lot of the drama felt kind of forced and Tsubasa's constant mentioning of Kanade got old fast. Fine's whole plan to take over the world didn't make much sense either. Is G even better than season 1 or is it worse?

Depends on your definition of worse. G is more action and hype and has a pretty bare bones plot compared to the first season. But the art design is better, the songs are great and Hibiki gets two scarfs.

Tsubasa's dialog was butchered in some places depending on the release you chose, making her seem more like a despairing edgelord rather than someone despairing.

It depends on your point of view I actually liked G more because it knew what kinda show it wanted to be and was exactly what it should have been and was great until the finale started. S1 on the other hand was bipolar as fuck in tone and was basically alright until the finale which I really enjoyed, even though the whole death and rebirth of the gears didn't make a lot of sense.

I mean the fact alone that the story specifically chooses to use the term Lulu Amel to describe the ancient humans.
The Custodian/s are just a step away from the Archons or Annunnaki or whatever mythical god-man term you want to use to describe the predatory ayy overlords.
That's why I wonder whether or not God = Custodians or if God is separate from the Custodians (the way God is separate from and above the Annunnaki).
Crunchyroll seems to think there's a singular Custodian and that's equivalent to God, but Crunchyroll is a bunch of idiots (and anyway Ryoko uses kami-sama for God and kami for the Custodians if I remember correctly)
