>>
>>13973953
-Akane went to Europe, he saw economic and ethnic issues. Class struggle and discrimination too
-Many successful japanese lived in Europe but their properties were taken after Area 11 and Britannia invasion of EU
-Mentions the Apollon and how the the tech evolution is the reverse from the real world
-was a Gundam fan when young
-OVA 2 was a showcase of urban warfare(mentions Gundams being 18m while KMF are smaller and thus can hide between buildings) and would be hard to do in 2D
-EU was frightned and lacked confidence so the Alexander was diverted for combat(cute to monster)
-He visited Versailles palace and had the idea for the Lancelot battle(only possible in CG), also showed infantry being torn in a fight between robots
-Mentions Escawflone for the castle siege as inspiration, the contrast between an old castle and modern weaponry too
-Mentions the lack of suitable flying weapons in Code Geass universe, so if the there were bombers the castle would fall easily.
-Again says the storyboards help little for battle animation, he himself told Orange where to move the camera for example
-mentions the new era of CG in anime, Orange love mecha so they work smoothly
-it was hard for him to make Akito because of the TV series
-says the future Geass series will have lots of possibilities
-the difference of watching anime in modern cinema
-finally he says to rewatch the TV series
>>
>>13974046
1st part of the interview repost:
-adults are evil TM
-Leila wants to change the world while the japanese want a place to call home
-story plans changed since OVA 1
-Hatred of the world changed from hatred to indivuduals
-stuff about changing the world in real life to young people
-Akito discarde his negative feelings and now wants to live
-Gypsies made their hearts soft while Suzaku and Lelouch didn't meet such people and so their lives ended in tragedy
-he did the story in the format introduction-development-turn-conclusion
-mentions people thought everyone would die in the end
-mentions Noein
-to him blood is not thicker than water
-Leila and Akito were saved by meeting the trio and vice-versa
-to him Suzaku/Lelouch are symbols of an unchangeable world, but he included the scene where they forgive each other as a possibility.
-he mentions the Zeta approach of Amuro not stealing the spotlight for Suzaku/Lelouch
-he didn't want to show Suzaku/Lelouch for simple fanservice, so he showed Suzaku feelings while Lelouch was unstable
-He designed Akito as the hero based on Suzaku's tragedy being amplified by Geass

>-says the future Geass series will have lots of possibilities

Did Akane just accidentally confirm the next series?
>>
>>13974737
What are in-between frames?
>>
>>13974830
Not necessarily. Obviously Code Geass still has a lot of room for future projects, but he may or may not know about the next one.
>>
>>13974830
I'm pretty damn sure Sunrise would have to be off their rockers to NOT try to make a new series. Given how fucking successful the series was, and the amount of spin-offs it generated, it's safe to say that Geass is the franchise that they wanted SEED to be, before Morosawa fucked it all up for them.
>>
>>13975090
Well, Akito's sales have been good, so that is a good sign to them there is still money for them in Geass.

With all the teasing we've been getting about a possible future Geass project, I have no doubt that we're getting a new announcement for something for this 10th anniversary.
>>
Why are all non-Lelouch Geass franchises so boring.
>>
Great Mechanics is confirmed to have an article on Akito, let'see if it will have any mech info
>>
>>13974067
>-story plans changed since OVA 1

That was rather obvious.

OVA1 seemed rather more like a pilot.
>>
>>13975280
No Goro Taniguchi.
>>
>>13975280
There aren't separate "franchises" though. And even then I'd say Lelouch's presence doesn't guarantee anything, either way. Especially since boredom is a purely personal reaction.
>>
Any PW2 scans today?
>>
>>13975705
Goro wrote Renya and that was so unremarkable that people didn't even knew it ended.
>>
>>13977272
It feels like Renya was simply a way for Goro to relax after all the tension of working on the TV show by making a simple supernatural shounen action manga story as a distraction, rather than trying to repeat or recapture the spirit of the original series. Basically the exact of opposite of what Okouchi ended up doing. It was certainly unremarkable, but at least it didn't crash and burn into a million pieces like VVV or GC. I am actually more interested in Goro's newer manga (Atrail) since that seems like yet another shift in gears.
>>
>>13977250
Maybe not tonight, but are there any other particular requests beyond the previously mentioned character pagesf?
>>
>>13977316
Spoken like a true retard.
>>
>>13977345
The OVA 3 Gracchus page is distorted to the left, the feet is very scrambled, though you just need to rescan the front lineart

some people request castle lineart before, BTW isn't there another page after the Orange interview with some 3d models for Vercingetorix/Ahuramazda?
>>
>>13977345
The newer Liberte page scans are ok, but I was actually hoping for a full page scan to clean up.
While I am editing stuff for the wiki, I was also compiling for myself since I was unable to buy a copy for myself.
But if you're unable, don't worry.

Anyway, is there anything else for the Gracchus? The page I saw was posted was just for the reparied version from ep 4 and 5, while it had different parts in ep 2 and 3 before it got damaged in battle from the Lancelot.
>>
>>13977381
Got it. I'll re-do Gracchus later.

Yes, I believe you're right about both of those (castle lineart, 3D models).
>>
>>13977411
Unfortunately...the way I am re-doing the scans, particularly with the Liberte pages, it wouldn't be easy to simultaneously provide a full scan *and* avoid the blurring issues. Pick your poison.

I believe there were two Gracchus pages posted: Scan_Pic0015 and Scan_Pic0016
>>
>>13977411
OVA2: one sword, Assault Rifle
OVA3: 2 swords only
OVA 4/5: black parts, 1 sword, 1 cannon

PW2 doesn't have lineart for the OVA 2 version but I have 1 scan with it
>>
>>13977421
regarding the Liberte 2nd page(the one that you redid the sword lineart) the distortion goes all the way to end of the page so the B/W parts lineart was certainly affected but you can't see clearly just like the Red Ogre's landspinner

maybe you just do the portion bellow the sword lineart to be sure, the rest of the page is fine
>>
Did the Pia mook have anything worthwhile? I recall the cover for it was posted here a while back.
>>
>>13977436
Alright, I'll include that 2nd Liberte page as well.
>>
>>13977444
no, mainly about characters and very few mech lineart with no wortwhile info
>>
So, I was rewatching the ep, and in the gcrowd at the castle at the end, you see some other people in the EU pilot suit. So, I'm guessing that the white Alexander Drones were actually manned like the Yukiya one.
>>
>>13978545
yeah, they were part of the Hammel team
>>
In general, it turns out that Akito & Co. became by gypsies and no participation in future events do not take?

That is, the events in the OVA does not affect the overall chronology?
>>
That was a boring final episode and ending.

OVA was pretty decent but aside from that one or two scenes in episode 4 with Lelouch and Suzaku, it didn't capture the Geass spirit/feelings at all. It's sad how the OVA doesn't come close the original series, and it's so far from the original in terms writing.

Lelouch truly is Code Geass.
>>
>>13979932
I can't believe it took them 4 years and tons of delays. I'm not sure I'd want another TV series with the current directing
>>
>>13979932
>it didn't capture the Geass spirit/feelings at all. It's sad how the OVA doesn't come close the original series, and it's so far from the original in terms writing.
And thank fuck for that given what became of the TV series
>>
>>13979946
I'd pick season 2 every day over the OVA. Even if the second season was bad compared to the first season, it had a godlike soundtrack, good mecha fights and a top tier ending.
>>
>>13979932
The purpose of this project was never to make you "feel" the same way as the original Code Geass did. Like it or not, that's not even what they were aiming for in the first place.

I'd say the writing quality was average. That is, somewhere between the highs and lows of the TV series.
>>
>>13979945
That doesn't make much sense, given the OVA isn't really going to share directors or writers with any potential TV series, movies or whatever comes next for this property.

>>13979963
You're free to like those elements of season two, but at its worst moments that production was far more frustrating and bewildering to watch than this OVA.
>>
Funny how Akane made Escaflowne which is universally praised while Akito has serious directing/writing problems
>>
>>13980206
To be fair, Escaflowne was quite popular but isn't "universally" praised. There's a lot of people who disliked the ending and think it's rather rushed and weak. I wasn't bothered by it, but I've run into several complaints about that.

Not to mention the movie version of Escaflowne was also rather horrible and has practically no fans. Compared to that, Akito is really just average material, like a few other Akane shows that didn't become hits.
>>
PW2 scans will resume tomorrow.

>>13974046
>Mentions the Apollon and how the the tech evolution is the reverse from the real world
What did he mean by this? What is Apollon?

>Mentions the lack of suitable flying weapons in Code Geass universe, so if the there were bombers the castle would fall easily.
This bugs me. Why wouldn't Britannia have an air force to bomb shit? Was capturing every objective a priority instead of just destroying it from the air?

>he himself told Orange where to move the camera
"Just spin the fuck out of it."

>to him Suzaku/Lelouch are symbols of an unchangeable world
Which directly contradicts the message behind the original series. Did he even watch it?
>>
they dropped the ball on extending the franchise, sadly. Had this been a spinoff of NoN, the older fans would've cared.
>>
>>13981353
No way, NoN was stupid.
>>
>>13981356
I'm not kidding though, had it been something with already known characters spun off, it would've sold better

>>13981377

>>

They already did that.

BD Versions?
>>
>>13981388
Already exist.
>>
>>13981395
I was asking if it was remastered as a separate release ala SEED, or was it for the BD Version?
>>
>>13981399
It was released on BD twice. Once as the initial release, and then again in 2014.

Besides, the staff wouldn't be talking about the future of the franchise if it was just a simple remaster.
>>
>>13981353
I didn't like NoN very much at all, so I can't agree with you Fllay. This was okay by me. Not great, but not terrible either. NoN had a couple of good ideas yet was just the same thing undernearth with more complications and craziness on top.
>>
>>13981377
And what is your basis for this assumption?
>>
>>13981568
it's not as noisy as the main entry.
>>
>>13981347
You'd have to ask the anon who kindly translated and obviously summarized his words to elaborate on each of those answers, of course, but my interpretation is as follows:

-We know guns exist in the Code Geass world yet don't use gunpowder, for instance, so maybe developing the tech for something like the Apollo rocket also happened in a very different order than in real life.

-That statement is fairly common knowledge, Britannia wasn't even supposed to have actual dedicated bombers in the TV show either, so that's not a change he introduced.

-That message is only true by the end of the story, which hasn't happened yet. It wasn't the case between seasons, when Lelouch vs. Suzaku had simply caused more conflict without resolving anything in Japan or the world.
>>
>>13981361
Selling better doesn't make something great. You should know that as an apparent fan of SEED.
>>
>>13981385
Gundam SEED only had a remaster because the footage was released in a pre-HD format. They've already re-released this show on BD at least twice.
>>
>>13981569
Short OVAs, with a few memorable exceptions like Unicorn that was a throwback into safe nostalgia territory, rarely cause as much noise as a TV series or full length film.
>>
>>13981569
And where is your proof on this? Again, sales for Akito the Exiled were great on each ep. Dunno where you seem to think that they weren't good enough.
>>
>>13981606
yeah, my bad. It just seems like it's rarely being discussed.
>>
>>13981611
Well, you can't always judge something like that based off on non-Japanese places.

While outside of these generals, most don't follow Code Geass anymore and don't pay much attention to Akito(And Oz the Reflection even more so), its nipland that actually matters to these things.
>>
>>13981611
It's because of the damn delays, which in turn is probably what Sunrise will try to avoid the most with whatever comes after this.
>>
>>13981353
>Had this been a spinoff of NoN, the older fans would've cared.
NoN wasn't even popular to begin with and is hated like most of the CG spinoffs
>>
Well, if the OVA, in the end, turned out to be a bad fanfic based on the "Code Geass", then can anyone suggest interesting fanfiction about Europe?
>>
>>13983452
Panzer Hummels actually get to fight and it's already miles better
>>
>>13983452

Nothing, because the EU didn't matter.
>>
>>13983452
Not any European ones particular, but you're too harsh. It was just an okay spin-off. Bad fanfic would literally be almost all the Code Geass R3 variants you can probably find.

BD box set includes an extra 5.1 audio mix, which seems to have received lukewarm reactions from the Japanese fans, since they made various BGM changes in the process.

There were also two new picture dramas, Stage 0.97 and Turn 12.06. First one of those curiously has Lelouch getting a B- rank in a knightmare simulator/game of some kind.

Any specific details it should have? Or is its armaments the same as the Avalon or standard Caerleon-class ships?

it only has BL, at least from what I've seen of it in O2. No weapons, and the thing on the front is the catapult I think.

The show was already available in BD format, so nothing changed on that front. They just recorded a new audio track in higher quality. I assume you can still listen to the original BGM version in lower quality too.

Bahamut, it appears you've made a mistake on the wiki by changing "European Union" into "Europia United" earlier this year.

The Akito webpage does have a couple of small headers for characters/kmfs that say "Europia United" but you can't look at just that in isolation.

Almost everything else uses "European Union" instead, from the English subtitles on the Japanese BD discs to their accompanying Japanese booklets (see back covers) and the Product Works scans.

A purely literal translation of the Japanese term would be "United Republic of Europia" and even the French descriptions visible in some of the monitors is "Federal Republic of Europia"
>>
>>13987909
Correction, the official term used in the English subtitles is also United Republic of Europia, so you really should change it to that. instead, not "Europia United" which isn't right.
>>
>>13987862

>>
>>13988003
The subtitles didn't show up before, which defeated the point of the screenshot, so I took a screen capture of the whole screen with another program and cropped it.
>>
>>13987909
>>13987986
Yeah, I was going to point out the Europia part. I'd reckon that the name Europia is used to signify that it's a single country with the real-life countries being essentially Stated in the same manner that was the original intention for the pre-Civil War United States(While the US was the main country, each state was also to function as an individual country itself). I had figured that Europia United was proper since the main series used EU as an acronym.

Explain the situation in the talk section of the main Europia page so everyone can understand why, and we can begin switching the name and such.
>>

Has Code Geass fallen to being a cult classic instead of a big name header? I'm not seeing too many people talking about it in the same way that Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura, seeing as they also have anniversaries that are being celebrated.
>>
>>13995487
We're not at the anniversary date yet, so it depends on what exactly you're comparing. I still see plenty of people talk about it online.

Of course, Sailor Moon was on the air for a much longer time (200 episodes) and shown in many more countries. There's also a remake going on right now as well as a new English dub that helps revive current interest in the property.

But I really don't see too many people talking about Card Captor Sakura these days. That obviously had its fans yet still wasn't quite on SM's level of popularity either.

Code Geass obviously wasn't as huge as something like Sailor Moon or Dragon Ball Z, nor Attack on Titan or Madoka for that matter, but it is somewhere above "cult classic" all the same. It was a hit, though not a mega hit.

>>13995547

I don't even know.
I mean, I've read up to chapter 8 of the manga, and the events don't throw me off, so that isn't what it is.
The photo story maybe? I haven't found a complete translation, assuming the photo story is actually finished.
I'm also lost as to how much of Oz there is, having looked stuff up, I've read that O2 ended, but I have no solid grasp as to the length of it all.
>>
What the fuck even is that Akito ending
>>
>>14022217
Photo story isn't done yet and it is almost another version of the Oz narrative, rather than being identical to the manga in every way. It basically presents a differnt point of view, primarily that of Orpheus rather than Oldrin (with exceptions).

As for the manga, Oz will have ten volumes in total. O2's final chapter has come out but the last collected volume is still to come...it shoudl be available sometime in April or so.

nah there's still stuff left to cover like a photonovel on the KoR for the few who love the lore and the KMF, but the main story was done with R2 and Geass' soul is Lelouch

an OZ anime would be nice since the story is much better than Akito and they could use CG for the KMF

Commission anon here, and its time I shared with you all some info.

Coming us soon, the translator will be going on a vacation and won't be able to work on the translation for a couple months while away. He told me this a while ago, but I held it back until the end.

Now, while away, I'm going to ask your all opinion on which of two actions to pursue

Should I find another translator to pick up wherever he leaves off when he does leave?

Or, the other choice, leave the manga be for now, and instead find someone to translate more of the photo story.

I can't do both(It'd be way too expensive for me to have two translation commissions going on), so lets hear what you all would prefer.

Even Macross has had a few of those too, as well as similar systems in place within other games.
>>
HJ:
-final arc begins, Elphaba appears
-High Grail, Gokka Byakuen and Gram Noir appear

>>
>>14034825
just a black lazy recolor

i guess it's safe to say O2 was cancelled mid way
>>
>>14034585
That's a shame. Well, hopefully we get something new KMF wise. Just one new mecha is all I ask for.
>>
>>14036636
all that's missing is lineart for Gooka, Hi and Elphaba

no new KMF will appear. April chapter is the Elphaba/Oiaguro(using a Gareth) battle, May the epilogue. All other minor characters are stuck in their flightless custom KMF like the Shiden and Chuyen as shown in the manga
>>
>>14034827
I think they didn't have too much stuff left to do with O2 by now. Perhaps a few chapters more, but not exactly another couple of years.
>>
>>14036753
Well for Orpheus side: meet Leefung again(she's already an ally for the final battle with no explanation), kill Dasko(no body, no death), meet Monica before she dies(could have been spying Damocles being built), wherever Orpheus was during 2nd Tokyo( could have fought Dorothea), showing Dasko saving Carine from the FREYJA, etc

The manga was rushed as fuck too, the mangaka wanted to draw more but couldn't...
>>
>>14036775
Could have done all that within two or three months more. Oh well. Sure, the manga totally rushed towards the last chapters, but it seems to be a more complete story in comparison. The epilogue should be okay too.
>>
>>14036804
at least Orpheus got his revenge on Plutone
>>
>>14036775
>>14036804
Maybe when we get the new project we can also get a side story that, while not focusing solely on them, can tie up some loose ends from Akito and Oz

-Guy implied to be Naoto
-Farnese, Gaudefrey, and Raymond's 7th Gen KMFs
-What happens to Farnese after Akito
-Gassan
-What Orpheus does between fighting Oiaguro and the Damocles battle

And other things, with its own plot and new KMF and variations
>>
>>14036837
I don't know if we get no new anime this year, the Geass franchise is pretty much dead

and the only sidestory they could do and have mentioned so far is a KoR story focusing on what they were doing during R1 and before R2. Could also cover the 3 unused Head Knights from Akito
>>
>>14036850
They've been hinting. We're likely getting something new for the 10th anniversary

Oz's weakness was that there was no consistent release to keep interest in Geass. If there were, it would have done better. Akito while well received, was spread out too far to support the side stories.

That's why even the mediocre Code Geass manga got to go on as long, and the other Geass mangas. There was an ongoing anime.
>>
>>14036863
japs and chinks were initially interested in OZ but in the end only the hardcore KMF fans cared about it

Lelouch is Geass' soul and we can't count even with KMF merchandise since kits always fail and they discontinued the RDs
>>
>>14036837
>>14036850
>>14036863
If we do get a new Code Geass side story, I personally want a grunt Shen Hu/Chu Yen. Maybe some more Chinese and European characters.
>>
>>14036850
I'd say that's the definition of announcing a premature death. Code Geass as a property stills sells more than the average anime (see the OVA and BD box re-release figures), even if these printed spin-offs didn't benefit much. I do think Sunrise will need to re-examine what they want to do next, which is why we'll either only get an announcement late in the year (Fall) or at some point in the near future, rather than rushing with a follow-up. Having a known IP is a big deal, but obviously they will want to consider how to best use it.
>>
>>14036880
OZ should have covered this but failed hard

it's either the KoR sidestory, an AU or nothing
>>
>>14036875
Lelouch is the "soul" of the animated Geass that currently exists, but that can change with another TV series. It's not like he's the only character in fiction that people enjoy.
>>
>>14036875
Like I said, no ongoing or recent TV series hurt Oz in the end. That's the reason that 4 separate manga during the TV series got to happen.
>>
>>14036880
I personally don't want to be reminded of the china arc ever again.
>>
>>14036885
I think we're gonna get an alternate timeline, so that they can use Lelouch without undoing R2. Akito establishing parallel timelines was likely for this reason. If we're lucky, they might even bring in the Akito cast and some Oz ones.
>>
I hate saying this, but I blame Akane for not being capable of producing Akito on a timely schedule and the Bandai Visual producers for not getting on his ass to speed it up until over halfway through these delays. I wouldn't have wanted him to get fired, yet people must follow their professional obligations and not live in a dream world. This project should have ended two years ago.
>>
other thing that bothered me was they never using the Sutherland/Burai variations from the DS game

there was some good stuff there like the Final Gloucester, Guren Nishiki Kai and the close range/long range custom Sutherlands. The Burai variations were completely ridiculous though.

Instead we got 50% lazy recolors, 20% frankenstein KMFs and 30% relatively fresh KMFs based on old ones

the only brand new stuff was the Sutherland Ikaros, the Prytwen and the Sheffield Eye
>>
>>14036909
Akane got too much freedom to fuck the estabished world and add unnecessary things that went nowhere:
-Euro Britannia
-3 other Head Knights
-a new method of acquiring Geass
-rocket technology
-EU land ships
-A cosmic entity that wanted to kill evil Geass user for more than a decade but never bothered Charles, Bismarck or Mao
-Said cosmic entity being fooled by a joke of a militarily commander
-Psychopaths like Ashley and Yukiya having sudden changes of heart
-Not a single hero chara dies
-Gypsy ending even for the Ashra Corps and Anou

After reading the interviews and reflecting I can kinda accept the castle wall but the rest is ridiculous bad writing/directing

Akane had a few interesting ideas but the execution was really poor
>>
>>14036931
The Administrator is obviously not a deity in the omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient sense, but more I'm line with how gods were once viewed, which is understandable since Japan was never big on that view.
>>
>>14036931
I don't think most of those are too bad though. Just underdeveloped in Akito because Akane didn't pace himself well.

Euro Britannia was a nice concept. It's more realistic to have factions within Britannia and the idea can be revisited again.

Cosmic entity didn't visibly bother Charles, but since she is a manifestation of the collective unconsciousness (or something along similar lines), I like the theory that she could have been present in all those scenes without being seen.

That said, the whole "fooled by Smilas" part was a bad idea. At least the OVA never mentions it, so maybe it'll be forgotten. The way Geass was given to Shin was also rather weird. Not explicitly contradictory but simply raises more questions without answers.

Ashley was a beast boy (almost literally, lol) so his being simple minded is fine. Yukiya's change was less sudden since he already had a couple of real friends despite his death way. Overall, I wasn't too interested in seeing a bloodbath, we have had enough older mecha anime by Tomino doing that, so their survival doesn't make a difference to me.

I think the execution was middle of the road in general, with some parts being great and others lame.
>>
>>14036961
*despite his death wish.
>>
>>14036931
>rocket technology
>EU landships

I thought those were cool.
>>
>>14036961
Ashley was estabilished in OVA 2 as a suicidal psycopath, in OVA 4 he was driven by pure revenge and should have died of internal bleeding

Yukiya bombed dozen of innocents just he was violently bullied by some people and had no qualms killing Akito or Leila.

That's poor writing, at least Lelouch was a sociopath with a greater goal and put his life on the line
>>
>>14036973
yeah, the land battleships did nothing and rocket technology was a really powerful useful tech that disappeared(even without satellites it should have spiked interest in other parties)
>>
>>14036983
Ashley was playing Russian roulette, which is very dangerous but isn't only played by psychopaths. Fair point about he bleeding though, since that's Hollywood writing logic at work.

Yukiya had an edgy backstory and all, but by the time we met him he's still not quite as crazy as Rolo. He did have friends, even if he wanted to kill Akito early on and I guess all 3 terrorists still didn't trust Leila in OVA 2. Yet, all the same, Yukiya started to find Akito interesting that same episode (didn't pull the trigger for the bomb) and they became more friendly after the BRS link, the gypsy visit and finally surviving his near-death experience in OVA4-5. None of them are as good as Lelouch, so to speak, but I wasn't bothered by this specific issue.
>>
