Reminds of me of the first OP.
Orga and Mika both look like bad boys, deliquents, tough, cocky, shaped by a life of violence, foul-mouthed always down for some rough-housing, fearless, and doing things that are incredibly irresponsible. Like you said, they would eventually prove everyone else that they were right.
Orga is the boss while Mika is his quiet but equally as dangerous right hand man.
In the actual show we do get bits of that but in the loosest sense. Orga does do irresponsible and dangerous things, but not because he's fearless and a bit on the edge, but really he's a big softy with low self-confidence does it to impress Mika. In the beginning Mika is the guy who coldly kills people, and throughout the show that has been kept consistent at least, but for the most part he's reduced to a prune-popping autist who only serves as a doll to praise others, be it Orga, Atra, or Kudelia.

Kira is a godawful deviant art character of a self-insert, but Destiny actually sold the Mobile Suits and had the unrealistic characters look coo.
If this took place in IBO, it would take three episodes of Kira exiting the atmosphere with talking heads of people telling experienced pilots how dangerous it was and then another episode to show the Strike Freedom. Then, we would get three minutes of fighting for all that buildup.

The entire underpinning of the show has been A-V and how it lets Tekkadan mercilessly slaughter everyone they meet, it's time to turn the tables.

They literally didn't show how she got away. Unbelievable. It reminds of when we were only shown Hilling and the rest retreating in their escape pods in 00 with no explanation until the next episode. The difference being that this show doesn't have the audience on /m/ to make a huge deal out of it.

The final part doesn't have her in the jaws, it has the jaws closed and clubbed down on her suit's head. As they drag her suit back in this episode, the Graze Ritter is completely missing its head unit.
As an aside, there is one small thing I'm retro-actively appreciating in the combat and that's the armor purges. They're pretty consistent as far as being used strategically.

You make that sound like ripping off a robots head would be a very quick thing you could do that would in no way draw someone's attention. Even if they do have some head detach button that is not something you could do subtly

Good question. Akihiro's position was also unclear since he started out reasonably close to Norba and Mika. All we know is that Arcee and Lafter were holding the beach, and that two guys were able to pull Carta's suit out of there.

Easy to do? I'll be generous as say only one would need to do it but really two would. So they have to run to her when they were dotted around other places, then he needs to drag a massive MS all the way back to a safe point without getting targeted at all and dealing with all the trees and other terrain. Now if two grabbed her it might be easy to carry but that means they have to both coordinate to stop what they are doing and both go there to pick up another MS. That is in no way an easy task why on earth would you defend this when even the show tried to ignore it?
And if Mika was fucking frozen then just kill him. There is zero reason not to stab him through if they were able to start pulling her away

So, the text could go either way, but I feel like the entire point of the speech is convince Gaelio that Gjallarhorn was made on AV, their Seven Stars ancestors had AV, and so those who wish to reform Gjallarhorn ought to have AV.
Also, I really like the idea of Gaelio committing to his revenge with such resolve that he overcomes his prejudice against cybernetics. It'd make his character have an actual journey with meaningful development over these last twenty plus episodes.

Dude just dominated your entire squad and has incapacitated your beloved commander. Not only would you not want to fuck with him, you may want to actually save your commander. Also, are you really expecting anyone, especially Gjallarhorn's mostly for-play soldiers with their lack of experience and love of pageantry, to think logically in this situation?
As for the head, it's definitely smashed in the ground, but we have no idea about the connection. The inner frame for these suits isn't really all that great, so having the neck snap doesn't seem out of the question. Could the scene have been thought out better? Fuck yes. Is it that bad? Not really. Pretty par for the course with this show.
