No, we don't spend nearly as much time on Annet or Gretel as we do on Theo and Katia, so they don't qualify. Additionally, while Gretel helps out, she is not responsible for helping to shift the story's direction like Katia and Theo do. True, a lot of their circumstances are in the shadow of Iris and Betrix's feud, but that doesn't mean that things like Katia showing up in the first place (and changing everything for Theo), and Theo doing things to assist in the rebellion to get Iris back, are invalidated because of that.
As for a light aside thing, Katia has both the first and last volume covers. That's a right reserved for the main heroine alone.

But the Coup arc was one of the best parts of Alternative. I honestly thought it and the Extra arc were the best parts. Though frankly, I don't get the hype around Alternative in general - I much prefer the spinoffs.
I've seen Schwarzmarken and I was really surprised by it because I wasn't expecting much. I have instead binged the entire thing to date.
I've watched episode 1 of Total Eclipse, though, and have found it... kind of derivative. Pandering fanservice, lots of pointless nationalistic nods, "it's a school for mecha pilots" premise, and a far less interesting bug war premise rather than the bug war plus the element of the internal politics there is in SM.
Am I being too harsh on it? Does it get better?

Very difficult to compare because muv luv aims for some kind of realism while gundam doesn't give a shit. TSFs are more like something a modern military would use in terms of functionality (comms, sensors, pilot support systems), so they have that going for them.
