I love the PR effects team's work on the T-Rex helmet mouth chompy bits. Kinda funny how they used the Sentai's footage too, and they look dramatically different.

Don't know about this episode. Tyler's talked about his dad all of an entire season and more, and we finally get him... and he's just sort of generic. He's got no personality outside of "I was a Tyler's dad." from what we've seen.
We get no real explanation as to where he's been this whole time. (Was Rusty hiding him? Seemed like he's known he's around.) What stopped him from intervening right then when the virus got Tyler? Is he actually the worst dad?
That and finally seeing Aqua for the first time, I naturally wanted to see more of him, but instead we got Tyler's ill-deserved power up mode and a barrage "T-Rex Super This!" and "T-Rex Super That!" for like four straight minutes. Tyler just sorta went crazy until the virus wore off, and got his dad back and a new power up as a present. He didn't grow as a character or learn some vital lesson, except maybe "I guess Shelby does know me, I shouldn't have been mad at her, even though she brought up a valid point"

As someone who just finished Megaranger, while I do prefer Megaranger for the most part, Megaranger's ending is one of the most painful one's ever in comparison to In Space.

One of the worst bits is how you have two joke character a fat silent guy who likes Pink and a scrawny weasel guy who talks for him because he's shy.
The weasel guy gets hurt in that surprise attack and the fat guy leads the whole "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT MY BEST FRIEND GOT HURT GET OUT" even though he's spent most the show wanting to fuck Pink.
And you know what the weasel guy does the moment he regains conscious during the final fight? He starts cheering for the Megarangers because they're his friends and telling them not to give up.
And then just at the very end, it's the fucking fat ass cheering for them that helps them finally overpowered the final boss.

Looking up his toy with the biography on the back, here's what it says.
>The Aqua Ranger bonded to the Aqua Energem on an expedition years ago. Since then, he has dedicated himself to finding the remaining Energems and fighting the villain Fury, unaware there are other Power Rangers who have discovered Energems of their own.
So from what I can gather about that, it's likely James got attacked by Fury, learned about the Energems from him (or Torin/Xenowing), and stayed hidden hoping to find them while keeping Rusty as his confidant. When Rusty saw the Red Energem with Tyler, he told James about it and he came out of hiding.
That's my guess. Hopefully more is explained next episode.

In the Z-wave we see four villains that survived it that became humans later(Zedd, Rita, Astronema and Divatox), the three women had human shape, so it seems in those cases you can survive the Z-wave. As for Zedd, since I'm bullshitting I'd say he was humanoid long before the show.
When the Z-wave hit, Fury had a human inside him, Ivan, so he didnt die for that reason(or also because there was some good in there, but that wouldnt explain why Zedd, Rita and Astronema survived without making even more bullshit). I cant think of a reason why Ivan wasnt fred back then though.

Finally got around to starting Shinkenger after finishing Samurai. Holy shit, I've heard people say that Samurai is a shitty copy-paste of Shinkenger, but I am fairly blown away by not only how much Samurai lifted from the Sentai version but also by just how badly Samurai botched it up.

Yeah. There are a lot of reasons why Samurai turned out the way it did (Producing copy paste jobs of Sentai scripts to make it easy on their new production crew, aiming at a younger demographic, Tzachor, etc.) but it doesn't excuse it.
There are episodes that are almost done shot for shot, with only real differences being the oddly included Bulk and Spike. Then they sterilize Jayden's character from Takeru to promote the brand's ideals of teamwork and stuff, which makes it a completely haphazard ensemble of characters compared to Shinkenger. Top it all off with glorious acting performances (I'm looking at Najee. Goddamnit he was so fucking terrible.)

I know my kid self well, and I know that to be true for me too.
Logistically though, they were already refilming the cockpit scenes anyhow, and I'm sure the Mega Mode Samurai toys didn't NOT sell for them to do this. Any exposure at all means someone out there will buy it, so I'm sure that "somewhere out there" amount yielded just enough or much more for them to do the Dino Drive modes.I like Dino Super Drive because Tyler adds a cool gruff to his voice that he doesn't usually use.

Yeah but Chronicle was a tragedy. 2 of the three teenagers are dead by the end, one of those two might have killed the other, and the one that's still alive definitely killed one of them. Instead of lifting them up from their circumstances to a higher purpose, it makes their problems even worse.
Chronicle would be the same if you had substituted "telekinesis" with "guns". Three teenagers come across a cache of guns and start practicing in them middle of nowhere. One of them shoots and kills another in something that was maybe an accident, maybe a murder. That one also has a shitty home life where he's routinely physically and verbally abused by his stepfather. His home life gets worse and worse until he ends up robbing a convenience store and nearly dies. Once he gets out of the hospital, he goes full-on school shooter, only to be taken out at the last moment by the third teenager.
Is this the kind of movie you want?

It would work if you did the same thing Chronicle did, which was that it wasn't all the same camera - it was any camera nearby. So there'd be cockpit cameras, exterior zord cameras, maybe a bystander is filming. The parts in Chronicle that would most definitely translate to a found footage PR movie were the scenes of the MC trio testing out their new powers and goofing around in equal measure. Like one of them shows off how much is telekinesis has grown by moving a car without any kind of gesture other than moving his head - but he's moving the car to play a prank on someone.
But maybe then it wouldn't. I don't know.

Well Dragon Shield could always be transferred to others, right? It's a way for audiences to recognize that it's not something that's a permanent attachment to the suit while still having it be a cohesive piece because it still flows with the design.

Landis' script also has Zack as the Pink Ranger, and Kim as the Black Ranger.
Rita Repulsa seems way too monstrous, physically speaking. Do like the reference to Zedd, which I'm guessing would be the only place it would be in.
But since Landis himself has said that the only involvement he's had with the movie has been this initial script used as a pitch, it's very likely none of this will appear in the movie.

That said, for modern sentai the closest you're gonna get is Go-Busters. Then maybe anything before Jetman(depending on how much toy shilling bothers you).

They are pretty fun. Sledge has some great lines, Poisandra is great vain villain and Fury...is pretty much less competent Dogold. Wrench is also pretty fun. Curio is kinda boring, mostly because Sledge and Heckyl don't use him to enlarge monsters.
Heckyl is fun in a creepy way. Kinda like Mesagog, but with a sense of humor.

They are very different and I wouldnt call them fun. Poisandra is a bit more fleshed out than Candelira, and there's an original one that's pretty cool, but he appears on the second seasons. As for the rest, I'd say the Kyoryuger counterparts are better.
