At the risk of being called a Gundamfag, if that's your complaint then you have autism. Only when the mecha gets to Valvrave-tier bits and pointy parts hanging out every which way is it hard to see a robot, especially if it's cell animation, as a single entity. I would go as far as to say that it isn't even something you have to aim for unless you fucked up and ended with 3 backpacks, 12 arms and shit coming out every direction.
That bring said, I love Getter designs. Just defend them better.

The manga actually utilizes the pupils effectively, and the characters actually notice it. In Armageddon they're squandered and used in pretty much every cut because SO GAR
Maybe lousy was the wrong choice of words since Armageddon Shin Getter is still cool, but I really prefer the subtlety of other designs.
