I think that's why they were so great. Wajima was simple sure, and Koyomi was a literal doll so it didn't make any sense to give her any actual development since it was clear from the get-go she was gonna be the mcguffin at the end.
Rinko and Shunpei were always involved, always running around "doing things". Even if those things were useless or used for comedic relief they still had structure. Look at a show like Fourze that tries to sell this whole thing about Frienship but after the first 10 eps characters like JK, Miu and Shun are made completely irrelevant until their 2ep "Closure" arcs later in the show, but once those are done they blast back to nothingness. Rinko and Shunpei had consistent screentime and consistent character interaction from start to finish. They didn't get dissolved into the clusterfuck of the plot and they didn't get lost in the shuffle when the other wizards started popping up.
Wizard just goes to show that nothing really needs to happen to make a good show. I mean why was OOO so great? Story? Fuck no, it was the character interactions that made OOO the best heisei phase 2 show.

Blade looks the same, it's a shame they didn't show off if they made Jack Form better or not.
Garren looks pretty bad, the backward shot is the only reliable move they've shown.
Looks like they buffed the drums by giving them those fire finishers but otherwise it's the same.

Fair point about Rinko and Shunpei, I just felt like they should have been more. I know that they were involved, and Rinko was usually around to help make sense of things. It just felt like they just sort of followed Haruto around at best being cheerleaders, with Shunpei occasionally playing him up or explaining things to the Gates.
I never really liked them as characters, and though Shunpei got somewhat better at the end Rinko never really did in my opinion.

But it didn't make sense to leave Wajima or Koyomi as simple as they did. We never knew a single thing about Wajima outside of him knowing Fueki for a bit, and the only thing he does in the show at all is make rings and then near the end of the show teaches Shunpei. They never explain why he can do this, anything of his past, why he chose to just take Haruto and Koyomi in, anything at all. Hell, he was basically just a guy who talked some sense into Haruto once or twice , handed him rings, and gave him some lodging. He didn't even really have a character despite being a pretty big part of the show.
The biggest fault lies with Koyomi though. Yes, she's a doll, and yes, she's supposed to be this nonchalant person, but they want us to like her, they want us to feel sad when she's gone or when she's made as a reason for Haruto to do something. They even drop the crystal ball thing really early on so her scenes are basically just standing in the background not doing anything, and then maybe saying a single line until six episodes later when she does it again. The only bit of character she even had during the entire show was during that episode where she doles out the rice and then pouts about there not being enough, and during the final episode where she tells Haruto to respect her wishes as a human and let her die. She was still a human in that doll, she could smile and love, so it doesn't make sense to make her such a disconnected character.

I can acknowledge your complaints. They are very real. Wizard suffered from absolutely terrible writing and next to no character development for even the most major characters.
I loved Rinko(like seriously shes a 10/10 easy) and I thought Shunpei was easily the least annoying rider groupie i've ever seen. Wajima was a decent father figure who made rings and said stuff occasionally. Koyomi is also super cute so I found it hard not to like her. These characters were never expanded upon much at all but I think that's better than expanding them in stupid ways to make them seem more vital than they actually are. I literally thanked my lucky stars they didn't have one of those "rider tells his friends to leave him alone because he's afraid they will get hurt" moments because that shit has became a massive pet peeve of mine.
My viewing of Wizard wasn't an easy one, and I definitely think it could be my least favorite to date, but what kept me going was these 4 characters and their tiny insignificant interactions with each other and with the riders. It was so amusing to me that I forgot about all of the plot holes and all of the predictability. I loaded up episode after episode because I wanted to see Rinko make more funny faces and wanted to see Koyomi's perfect smile as she whispers "Haruto" while rubbing her ball.

Masked Form was for defense and was able to dispatch lower Worms with ease. The point of doing the cast off was a defense mechanism against Worms that molted. It flew in all directions with massive force that could kill lower worms and damage the higher worms giving the riders a chance to not only clock up but get in offense.

I have no problem with liking them for the sake of liking them, I was the same way with ToQger for example and loaded up episode after episode enjoying their interactions. I just felt like more should have been done to make us like the characters and make them more relatable. The reason for Hongo to be the Rider of "skills" is because he is good at all kind of sports, and from there he got himself tons of moves.

But then the 2 are not that different in spec, while one have slightly better agility and can jump 5m higher, and the other has like 5t more power in punching and kicking.

This brings up a question of mine, assuming that leaked on set photo was really Rider 3, and if somehow Rider 4 comes back on the side of good.
Do you think they'll phase out V3 and Riderman and have 3 and 4 take their place? As in, if they need additional faces beyond 1 and 2 to advertise something they will use them instead, with Toei/Bandai's logic being that they are all Shocker Riders and "woohoo go original origin Riders!"?
All this Shocker Rider focus and buildup makes me feel so. Though that would make me worry about V3 since Hiroshi Miyauchi seems cool with his tokusatsu career (as far as I know). Unless in one of the other anniversary movies V3 gets a movie where he gets fucked up and then rebuilt, this time based on 4 Shocker Riders. Thus he evolves into V5 and his movie is a grand allusion to his show, essentially. Then we will have a Sentai's team worth of Riders.
Wouldn't have to worry about Kamen Rider X either because luckily he isn't actually named V/5/Five/etc..Don't know what they would do about Riderman, since his original actor is dead.
