What made the Z gundam stand out so much that Anaheim Electronics and others kept trying to mass produce it for over a million times?

Extremely maneuverable and powerful
No other transforming MS in UC could match it in functionality

What's up with the second one? Is it the one from Define with the weird transformation that made everyone sperg out or something else?
>>
>>13704807
it's the wav shooter variant, my fave.

per the wiki:
>The Wave Shooter equipment was originally created because replicating the rotation of Zeta Gundam's wing binders in a transforming kit was beyond the capabilities of plastic models at the time, so Bandai borrowed ideas from their previous Gundam Sentinel MSZ-006C1 Ζeta Plus C1 kit, whose wings were more manageable.

Oh, I see. Thanks!

The 1985 1/100 Zeta Gundam model could transform into Wave Rider, though.

It's THE Gundam of its time period, of course you'd want a GM equivalent. Even up to the 0110s they're basically stuck with MkII based grunts though.
>>
>>13704600
Why are there 4 MSZ-006s?
>>
>>13705793
each is a subgroup or variant
>>
>>13705793
In Origin the appearance of the Gundam changes over time, mostly because Yas is an indecisive shit, but also to show the late series upgrade.

Z Define poorly imitates Origin so aside from bringing in the Waveshooter for the second Earth arc for shits and giggles, it has all these totally nonsensical evolutions, the last of which's dating corresponds with ZZ.
>>
>>13704600

Cause they want a variable fighter.
>>
>>13706737
This. In terms of exposure, longevity and popularity, Zeta is the best offering Sunrise has comparable to a Valkyrie in the "real robot" transforming jet genre of mecha. (Sorry Wing fans)

the context of that was supposed to be for 1/144 scale kits....which actually still hasn't been done right yet since the RG zeta is extremely fragile.
>>
>>13706873
>the context of that was supposed to be for 1/144 scale kits.

1/144 kits are never mentioned in the original article, so you are just making that up.
>>
>>13706899
I'm not making it up for the sake of it, that's just my assertion based on the history of the plamo.

actually, looks like I missed the first part of what I wanted to write

>it seems the context of that was supposed to be for 1/144 scale kits...
>>
What is the difference among these 5? Beside power output and such stats
>>
>>13707003
1. Regular
2. Wave Shooter
3. The little thing on the cockpit is on the other side now and the shield is less detailed.
4. Now there's some white on the shoulders! Also another slight edit to the shield.
5. Strike Zeta
>>
>>13707169
I like how it vaguel ties to justify the missing yellow on the RG's shield but foes it at the same time it drops fugly RG style knees.

Anyways third one has rounder and thicker cockpit hatch and knees, fourth changes the entire chest for some fucking reason.

No, it's the same Zeta Gundam, just shown throughout it's entire service/development. Takegawa has a boner for showing iconic mobile suits with occasional differences resulting from new parts over time.

>>13706734
This has nothing to do with Z Gundam Define.
>>
>>13705125
what made the Zeta stand out so much more than say the Nu, or ZZ or those from Stardust Memories, etc.

Only the Zeta had multiple attempts at mass production.
>>
>>13706737

That's more or less true.

Even Nagano said that transforming robots all suffer from the "Curse of the Valkyrie".

ZZ gundam stands for Zeta Zaku
>>
>>13707520
The Stardust Memory stuff was all conveniently wiped from the records, and since nobody in UC keeps backups that was that. (Though the Nightingale's thruster layout may have been based off of the GP-01fb's)

The Nu was considered for mass production, but aside from being super expensive, it was based off the ~spooky~ psycoframe so all plans were halted.

Anyway Zeta Gundam was pretty much one big arms race in development. First the Movable Frame shat over everything before it, then wing binders were the hot thing, and then transformable mobile suits were all the rage.

Zeta combined every single one of those, so it was the perfect thing to work off of.

Also for all intents and purposes the ZZ /did/ enter mass production, it was just folded into the MP Zeta project. The ReZEL Type C's two packs are pretty clearly ZZ inspired.

Non gundam color schemes on gundams makes me hard.
>>
>>13706753
Wing's transformation is absolutely retarded, it doesn't compare to Zeta's smooth transformation and much less to a VF's
>>
>>13704600
OP, i'll tell you the secret.

it's because it doesn't have the red beard thing.

Kamile's lost schematic specifically says: "Also Anaheim shitbirds? Let's try not having a red thing on the chin! What is that even supposed to be? I want Z to be just all white, cold as fuck."

then they lost that part
>>
It sold a lo of toys. Sunrise/Bandai found it to be popular. Stop being autistic

Zeta can be accurate, it can be 1/144, or it can be stable, pick two.

There's a reason most transformable MS that aren't based off the Zeta are basically "have the MS lie down", and it's because that way the whole thing isn't just an explodey mess or a partsformer where you replace the whole torso with a single solid piece in the transformed state.
>>
>>13704600
Personal preference.
I can't stand it.
